That was the first mistake…read morebecause we paid double price for them in advance and when we got on the ferry, they were offering everyone to upgrade to first class for about $5. The boat goes at a modest, safe speed, but they refused to let anyone go out on deck.... "it's forbidden". No openable windows, either. This made photography through the glass windows really challenging. There were zero amenities provided to First Class at all. Just seats. You could go down to the regular deck and buy pricey snacks or a beverage if you wanted them. So, the extra value of first class is essentially zero.... don't waste your money on that, and don't expect friendly service, either. The overall vibe of this company was rushing people around for no reason and a lack of politeness. There was a sign on the boat that foreigners should fill out a Chinese immigration card before arrival. And they had ZERO of those cards available on board! The ride was smooth and you can see some pretty buildings and a few other boats during the trip. Overall, if you have to get from HK to mainland China, you might as well take a train or plane, or maybe there is a nicer ferry than this one. CKS was the low point of a wonderful first visit to HK and China.

But I'll be happy to accept the FTR for this MTR station! Lo Wu isn't my favorite station but it is when it involves going shopping in Shenzhen! My husband and I have now been here a couple of times via MTR and city bus. And while it's much quicker to get on the city bus for us, I still prefer just riding the rail up to Lo Wo. You may not always get a seat but standing can still beats sitting in traffic and not going anywhere...I haven't had an issue yet. Don't mind all the men and women with suitcases...they aren't going to the airport....They are SERIOUS SHOPPERS!!! So, wave that Octopus card like you just don't care and board this MTR you will either be engaged in your phone so much that the time will fly by or you can gaze out the window and see what the other side starts to look like. If you have perfected that Asian nap, well then go for it! Once you jump on...you can not get lost. AND if you do...follow the ones with suitcases. Pay attention to what line you are going to after deboarding from the MTR.

Bathrooms are clean, which is always appreciated, and the signage is clear and straightforward, especially when it comes to directions for entering China via the pedestrian bridge. For travelers visiting Hong Kong who want to do a day trip to China, or those coming from China and planning a quick day trip to Hong Kong, this station makes the process very convenient and stress free. Overall, it's a practical and efficient transit point for cross border travel. Please note that we are going to Futian hence we pick this stop.

Fun fact that the name means "dismount island" ;)…read more Its very ideal if you're heading into Futian (i.e. Coco Park a.k.a the Lan Kwai Fong of Shenzhen), or Hi-Tech park or Nanshan as you skip a few stops in the Shenzhen metro. Also if you're entering Hong Kong from this port of entry, don't forget to scan your MTR Octopus card at the MTR faresaver.

Ask anyone for a place to park your car at Lok Ma Chau and this is the one that most people will…read morerecommend. The reason for this is quite clear- its the cheapest considering its location being right next to the Huanggang bus station. Situated right on the side of the main road, the car park is easily accessible and much preferable to the section "B" which requires another car ride to pick up your car. Given that they are charging you for 70 HKD per day there is nothing much to talk about in terms of the location- its not covered, its not paved and the staff there are seem to think that they own you because you are parking your car here. The spaces are vaguely drawn out and on busy weekends you always have to play the game whereby everyone seems to park closer to each other until someone does hit someone else. Not sure whether anyone has collected any parking dents here but I wouldn't be surprised at all. The other thing to note is that this place has a strange ability to cover your car in grit after a day. It is next to the main road which could account for the dust but there is nothing around that could explain the spots of "gunk" that seems to collect on your car. Maybe its from the trees nearby but I cannot confirm this. I think the main thing to decide is what car you drive: if you drive a ferrari then no, don't come here. If you are like the rest of us driving something normal then you can give it a try before you just think its too dirty and packed and you will park next door.
