Since 1984, the bakery focuses on traditional treats. Loved the banana cake which is light and addictively delicious. The pan fried mochi with sesame seeds is so unique. The shop has a decent line that moves quickly. No surprise that it has been Michelin recommended and featured on Netflix. Next time, I'll try the wife cake.

If you enjoy tofu in general, you must try this place. You can probably guess based on the name that they make all their tofu products, including soybean milk which is also very popular. Fun fact! I have lived in Sham Shui Po until I was about 10 years old. Kung Wo is about 5 minute walk from our old apartment and I have no recollection of ever having the tofu here. It's my older sister's favorite tofu place so we had to stop by to grab a bowl of good old hot tofu, which is like a dessert. Be aware the dining area is small and cramped. You will likely have to sit next to a stranger in close proximity. It is street food style and casual dining. Folks order, eat and go! The tofu without a doubt was smooth, silky and fresh. I'm not a huge fan but my sister really enjoyed it. I was feeling something savory and got a mix plate of Cheung Fun (rice noodle rolls), fish balls, and fish shui mai. It was alright. Average - nothing mind blowing. Nevertheless, places like this is what makes Hong Kong - Hong Kong! Cash only

It's a Bib Gourmand so we thought it would be busy but it was pretty empty on a Saturday morning. There appears to be two storefronts but only one has actual tables and chairs to dine-in. I didn't look too hard at the other but it seems like take-out. Once seated, there's a ton of paper menus to mark down your order. We handed it off to the workers and the food came out in less than 5 minutes. So fast! Tofu Pudding: Choose either hot or cold, sugar or sugar-free. We ordered one to share so we couldn't stuff ourselves and it was just the right amount. Super silky! Maybe it's just me but if we each had our own, I would've gotten tired of the texture real fast. The sugar version wasn't that sweet too and we ended up adding the orange/yellow sugar, which is provided at each table. Mix Deep Fried (6 pieces): If you want to try a bit of everything, you can order this sampler of various deep fried snacks. It comes with two pieces each of deep fried tofu, tofu puffs, and golden fish and soya cakes. Pretty good snack but it's made a little better with the various sauces at the table. It's not like crispy, deep fried but a little soggy already. Overall, not bad but it didn't stand out for me. If you're in the area, it's worth trying it out once but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way. Cash only!

FOOD Silky smooth tofu, you really can't ask for more. I chose the hot tau fu fa and I was blown away. It was only $9. I had the tau fu fa at Lamma Island and I must say that this store blew those ones out of the water. The tofu would just melt in your mouth. I want another bowl just thinking about it. You can add more brown sugar or ginger sugar water if you like your tau fu fa to be a bit sweeter. The ginger infused sugar water gives the dish a bit of a kick - you can barely taste the ginger but it adds some spice to the tofu. They also sell bottled soy milk so you can get one for the road. SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE Quick turnaround and service. They served the tofu before I even got a chance to pay. Efficiency at its finest. There is limited seating so don't expect this to be a place where you can sit and chat. The guys were friendly and were helpful when I asked for recommendations. Will definitely go again - this time I'll be sure to bring a few bowls back home.

I honestly wish all bakeries could operate the way they do. There are no English signs and the workers do not speak much English at all. (#1) The place is old school and super local. Instead of grabbing a tray and serving yourself, in this setup the items are out on display in tubs and you point to each one that you want the worker to package for you. There is always a crowd here, so items run out quick. I love their version of the egg tart (蛋撻) and the wife cake (老婆餅) is one of the best I've had. A popular pastry is their hot dog pastry (腸仔包), which is fluffy and almost buttery with every bite. They have an awesome variety of shao bing (燒餅), which they bake and grill almost looking like stuffed pancakes, but they're usually filled with a sweeter ingredient such as bean paste (豆沙), sweetened custard (奶黃), azuki / red bean (紅豆), just to name a few. Everything ranges from $3-7 HKD, which in my book is extremely affordable. Try to target the items you want ahead of time and be sure to bring cash. I wouldn't bother calling ahead of time and I would suggest being patient with the staff when the crowds are fierce. ___________ (#1) If you can't rock the 廣東話, be prepared to point.

Although still absolutely the best grocery store in proximity to me, this fusion is now more of a strong 4 than a 5 to me in my eyes. The shiny patina of a clean, organized grocery store with international labels to a new hungry expat has worn just a touch in light of time, options and exposure. The booze moved to the back and they got rid of the flax seed bread I like so much over the year, but the consistency of everything else that I said before remains the same. The produce section is still pretty good (lots of veggie options coming from food sources that are clearly identifiable versus the unknown food chain coming from some stores). The dairy section is still pretty big. The creme de la creme and what would change it all for me is if that sushi counter went away. It is still there and I happily am eating sashimi from them a few days a week. The check-out lines can still wrap around the corner and be long and you might encounter a unfriendly/non-English speaking checkout person on occasion, but that would be the exception and not the rule. Also, either I am getting wider or those tiny aisles are getting smaller, because there remains the delicate dance when shifting around people at any given time while shopping because there is limited space in the shopping aisles. I am still a fan and will remain shopping a Fusion. Again, I personally find it to be the best option in the area.
