This is the most ghetto dim sum spot I've been. The food is great. I like the contrast where there are two Lamborghinis parked outside. The staff is friendly toward regulars and Hong Kongers. Not so much for foreigners. There aren't traditional dim sum carts. You fetch your own dim sum from the chef. The ordering system is, you tell the people working there how many people. They will seat you next to strangers. Then they will ask you what type of tea and give you silverware. You have to rinse your own bowls and cups in tea. Then you walk up to the dim sum chef and tell them what you want. You get a piece of paper from the cashier lady inside first. If you order too much, you have to come back as the steamers are pretty hot. I saw two Korean tourists got yelled at ask they didn't know how the system worked. My recommendations are pork dim sum, shrimp rolls and egg rolls. Sadly, 新龍城茶樓 will close soon. Ngau Chi Wan Village is under redevelopment and the restaurant will close as a result of that. Kam Wah Cafe is also famous for their freshly baked Pineapple Bun and Butter. Can't start your day without some HK Milk Tea and Iced Ovaltine. My son said it's a good thing the nai cha in the states are not as good because he was starting to develop an addiction. Lol. For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. Aside from the classic breakfast items, they also offer many delicious rice and noodle dishes in the afternoon.

The fried pumpkin didn't taste much like pumpkin if that's what it was. Could have been any melon as far as I could tell. Summary: This place is in the Nan Lian Garden Park and is part of a nunnery. To access this park, you must enter the park and best to make a reservation, but can accept walk ins if they are not busy. I'm not sure what the reason is for the $150 (HK dollars) minimum, but that could be a deterrent for those not sure about the food or for a smaller party of 3 or less. I'm guessing this is also to minimize waste as the ladies here will frown upon any wastage of dishes not eaten. The service was helpful and there is a beautiful view of dining behind a waterfall. Just keep in mind you are dining at a vegetarian spot so expect a variety of vegetables you may not have ever seen before and try before you say "no." There are a variety of options for drinks, but no alcohol. A bit pricey from what I've been told so be prepared for that. The pretense is non-existent and locals (including myself!) seem to love it here. So like many noodle spots in HK, this place is fairly small. No big tables for 5+ but quite a few small'ish round tables that are good for solo eats or the invaluable food companion. The aroma coming from the semi-open kitchen should be enough inspiration for folks to know what they want upon arrival, but just in case they have the menus outlined along the wall. An easy way to start? Try a wonton and beef brisket with your choice of noodles. The wontons are somewhat pillowy in texture and full of flavor while the beef brisket is braised well while maintaining a perfectly chewy bite. The noodle variety is good, with egg / rice noodles winning over the crowd though I feel the e-fu noodles take the cake. Lastly, do not sleep on the beef tendon. It's practically butter when done right. Chui Hing does fancy itself as a HK style cafe, so other dishes like congee, fried fish skin, fried rice, may appear on the menu, focus on what to stack in your bowl instead. I didn't ask to have the noodles separate, but they still retained a good amount of chew by the time I got back up top the hotel. You can pay a little extra anywhere to ask them pack separate. The wontons are ok, beef balls are good, noodles are good, soup okay. The milk tea wasn't very strong but has a nice authentic back flavor. Everything was ready in under 5 minutes. Very good for takeout!
