    Another view from our table...

Lunch here was the highlight of our stop in Portofino. We wanted a break from the cruise ship food and people. We walked along the water until we found this wonderful place. Owned and operated by a husband and wife, the service is friendly. The couple are attentive. The atmosphere is relaxing because it's right on the water. It's next door to a water taxi so we got to see boats going in and out. The food...I think that's why you're reading this...extremely fresh! They've got an extensive lunch menu. We started with mixed green salads . The size was ample but not big enough to share so get your own. We followed up with paparadelle pasta in a light tomato sauce. It was obvious that the pasta was homemade! The sauce was light, which is my preference. Of course there was lots of bread. I had a white wine from that region of Italy. The show stopper was the dessert! It was a tart with cream and fresh berries. The crust was like shortbread. The cream was sort of like thick pudding. The fruit and drizzle were so perfectly sweet, naturally sweet. I have two reasons for wanting to return to Portofino: this restaurant and the shopping!

Literally the best tiramisu we've ever had, and the pappardelle de portofino was to die for. Adorable views and great service, we also had the mussels and we liked them for not being big seafood lovers. A must try for a reasonably priced lunch in portofino!

Location is great! In beautiful Portofino, right by the marina where you'd totally enjoy the view. Of course you'd expect to pay premium to dine here. It's not about food, it's about the view!

Nice seaside lunch in a beautiful setting, wait staff responsive. My husband had pasta with clams...except. The pesto pasta...not so much.

My bro & I were promptly seated w/o a reservation. Reservations are not stressed too much unless you're dining in exclusivity. We split an octopus salad with softened potatoes and parsley, excellent, 12€. I ordered Bronzino alla Genovese with pine nuts, and olives. Excellent +. 18,50€. Staff was very friendly and spoke English quite well. The nicest restaurant we've been to in three days here in SML.

This was a delight to find. I and my 4 tour pals took a cab and walked a few doors up to the most quaint restaurant with outdoor seating. As Americans, we were excited to find meatballs and french fries, and several ordered just that. I went for the meatballs as well, with a side of roasted vegetables that were tender and full of flavor. The meatballs were seasoned well and perfectly cooked with a rich tomato sauce that reminded me of my late gramma's. Our waiter was a delight, full of humor, good conversation and recommendations. We all had gelato at the end of the meal which was also delicious. The quiet alleyway was enjoyable even though we were likely the biggest noise as we ate and laughed and talked as if we were family, despite having met mere days before. Wonderful place to eat! If I find my photos I will post them.

As we discussed food plans, our driver suggested eating in Santa Margherita as the food was better quality and better priced. We took his advice and stopped by a row of restaurants. When we asked for recommendations, he simply said "all are good." Pressed for time My brother made the quick decision for this place and we crossed our fingers and hoped it would be good. BOY, was the food BETTER than GOOD!! We tried the gnocchi w/ pesto, another pasta with pesto, two different spaghetti dishes, and the ravioli. Some of my family is vegan and vegetarian, and the food fit their needs. The ingredients were simple, yet fresh and flavorful. We ordered the house wine, and beer for my dad. We walked away paying 20€ a piece (4 people) and I was very pleased. Customer service was great. Although their was a language barrier, our server spoke English, and was very personable. He was even kind enough to give me a mini lesson on Speaking Italian. We dined al fresco and the view of the parks and ocean was beautiful. I've been home for weeks now, and we still have not stopped talking about this dining experience. Definitely one of the best food experiences of my trip. I would definitely recommend.
