Came here for the Empanadas, was not disappointed at all. It really is a little hole in the wall place, and to be honest, being near the counter actually hurt my eyes from the cooking right behind it. Oh it was worth it. I don't speak Spanish, but the owner was nice, and 4 Empanadas were on it's way to me.
I've been having Empanadas from a few different places, Tango venues, pizza places, and where ever, they are usually cheap ($~1.50 USD, ~20-25 pesos), but nothing has impressed me until now. The price is cheaper than anywhere else at ~17 pesos, and deals if you get 12+ empanadas. Other than the awesome price, the quality!
These Empanadas use fresh dough, and it's better than anywhere else I've tried, really couldn't imagine something better, I'm sure it's simple, but other places it's been dry or weird overall but here, it was nice, fluffy, fresh, and golden. This is just the bread. I got two Carne and two Pollo empanadas, and even on the menu they are shown as being wrapped differently so you can order a bunch and always know what is what. The filling was very generous and VERY flavorful. Most place talk about not having any spice in anything, this had some added flavor, that worked PERFECTLY with each empanada. There is little seating, but I took my order for carry out "para llevar". It's only a block from where I'm staying... and I know i'll be back, most likely trying other items on the menu. read more
