An electric car charger is located in the garage for a small extra charge. The room was too warm for me so slept with only the sheet. Everything from the hosts and food to the furniture and decorations sum up to a first class experience that simply surpasses that at every hotel I have stayed at. I contemplated posting photos of the delightful interior of the Gingerbread Manor, but in doing so, I would simply be ruining the surprise for the handful of people who might stumble upon this review. We booked a room with a private bath (de Maisonneuve) which was equipped with all the amenities one needs. The bed was comfortable to the point where it was hard to simply get out it each morning during the days we were there. Every morning, we were served breakfast by Ephraim. Each meal was complemented by a parfait starter and mini-desserts. It must be said that the coffee was excellent. But besides the quality of the food, the experience would not be the same without Yves and Ephraim. While we were out and about every day, we didn't have much of a chance to see Yves. Yves was the first to greet us upon arrival to make us feel at home. We spent most of our days chatting with Ephraim, who was a terrific host that I would liken to be a "walking Wikipedia" for everything Montreal. Our morning conversations were long and engaging covering topics from culinary arts and political science to music and technology. His restaurant recommendations were refreshingly honest and we never made a bad choice. He has my heartfelt gratitude for the introduction to the heart-attack inducing Canadian dish of poutine! The lovely Gingerbread Manor is a five-star experience. The hosts run a first-class operation, which is reflected in their personality and ability to make their guests feel right at home. I have no need to try any other B&B or any hotel the next time I return to Montreal. I might not even go back to Montreal if a room at Gingerbread Manor is not available.

It's not…read morequite so homey -- the proprietors aren't living on-site -- so it has more in common with boutique hotels than true auberge or B&Bs, but the service was exquisite and incredibly attentive, albeit only there for a limited window in the afternoon, and that was true to the name. The 1860's building is a bit of a warren, but that added to its charm in our opinion; you'll never stay in a place quite like this one. The rooms themselves are quite up to date, and other than a few eccentricities (the toilet lid kept sliding off, and one of the wall outlets without a lamp on it turned out to be on a wall switch, so our phones didn't charge overnight!) quite comfortable. We did have a short problem with somebody blasting music so loudly it came in through our interior-room window around 11 PM, so the sound proofing could use a little help, but we otherwise didn't hear any city sounds at all. The air was not controllable; part and parcel of being in an old place. Fortunately we were visiting when the weather outside was comfortable and the air circulation was good enough that despite our inability to control the temperature, it was fine and relatively fresh. We heard not a peep from other guests at night. As noted, there are no elevators, and if Canada had a Canadians-with-Disabilities Act like the US ADA, this place would probably have to shut down; there's just no way to make a lot of the rooms here accessible and you have to go up and down the short stairs yourself with your gear (although plenty of help was offered by the staff). Parking is also, well, city parking. We found street parking on the side but the instructions about how to get a billet at the parking kiosk needed some improvement. The only fault I have with the location is it's quite a haul to the nearest metro station; otherwise it's fantastic, in the heart of Plateau Mont Royal, across from the park of the same name as the Inn, easy to get to a lot of things if you're car or bike mobile. I neglected to ask if they had a place to put bikes; if you can bring a bike, this would be a great spot for a bike-based visit to our favorite city. The breakfast is extra (included with some packages) and was a lovely classic continental, with fantastic Montréal bagels and pastries. There was also what looked like a nice selection of smoked meats / cold cuts that looked very tempting, but we keep vegetarian these days; sigh. So tasty looking. We had a fab little time in the small lobby/breakfast area, and honestly, that was the part that really was reminiscent of our younger days staying in country auberges. One small quibble idiosyncratic to us: at the management's request, we downgraded from a room with two beds to one with one to accommodate a family with younger children who needed the extra space, in exchange for one with a King bed and a rollaway for our teen. Unfortunately the rollaway was terrible and he had a terrible night's sleep, while we snoozed away blissfully on our incredibly comfortable big bed. But note I'm still posting five stars: it was that pleasant.

Good stay overall with helpful staff and a convenient area. The room was tidy, but soundproofing…read morewasn't great as hallway noise could be heard. Still a relaxing spot for a short visit.

Breakfast is included, and is an informal, made to order, affair. The kitchen is vegetarian, so don't expect bacon. But the scrambled eggs are better than I can make at home and the company is delightful. You can bring take away here and eat at the big dining table, or cook dinner, just be respectful of their no-meat kitchen. While mont royal is my favourite room I've had the chance to sneak a look at almost all of the other rooms and each has its own unique charm. It's an old house, so expect creaks, and walk lightly. A beautiful old home…read morewith gorgeous (if very squeaky) wood floors and great architectural detail, but with lots of white paint and minimalist furnishings to keep the feel modern. It reminded us of home since we live in New Orleans, yet felt just more luxurious. The Marie-Anne suite downstairs is particularly wonderful. We were lucky to receive an upgrade for our first 2 nights and stayed there before moving into the small upstairs room that we had booked (the St. Laurent) for the remainder of our stay. The claw foot tubs in both rooms were great for relaxing after long days exploring the city on foot!! Breakfast was a delight: fresh fruit & croissants, yogurt & granola, delicious juices, even eggs cooked perfectly to order. That definitely exceeded our expectations for what would be available in the mornings.. The location is another of Casa Bianca's best aspects. It faces the park of course, and then it's surrounded by streets full of interesting shops & restaurants, which makes for days full of fun walks and great shopping. We ended up having to buy a duffel bag for everything we picked up along the way, and we didn't come here to shop much! Public transit is pretty easy to deal with too, although it's on the high end at $3 a person (at least that includes a transfer or two). Sophie, the manager, is a great hostess and her assistants are very friendly as well. We got some great recommendations for nearby restaurants, jazz bars, etc. Check in here and let them take care of you!

It is an old set of residences that have been converted into a B & B. I have a Jetta, so I could get in and out fairly easily, but I wouldn't be sure of anything much larger than that. Also, whether from the street side or the parking lot side, you're going to have a hard time getting around with a large suitcase. And if you yourself are larger than average (even if you are simply tall), the bathroom may also be a struggle, as it is really smushed into a small space. All that being said, it is a beautiful building and you can't beat the location. It is right by a subway station and in easy walking distance to Bell Centre. I felt perfectly safe walking back after the Hab's game. And leaving was pretty convenient too, as it is really close to a highway ramp.

He claims to be the manager.I've met the owner and it's hard to believe he'd hire someone like that to be manager. It takes away from the charm of the place. He is especially rude to women and he acts like he knows me well. But I don't even know him. The location is good being close to a nice part of downtown all within walking distance. The shower in the room was cool plus there was a bathtub next to it. If anyone has a problem with front desk guy his name is Sami El Hassani. e

My friend and I went to montreal for labor day weekend and stayed at this diamond in the rough!…read more This place is located walking distance to ste catherine where all the tourist traps are and the metro so its conveniently located. Its a condo style place and you rent out the rooms and share the "communal place" which you dont really need anyway. There is a kitchen and a living room and a balcony but we rarely used it unless we were eating Patryck's fantastic 3 course breakfast! So, if you stay here, every morning he prepares a gourmet 3 course breakfast, hence the name bed&breakfast. You can request anything, and he will make it. The first morning we had a bowl of fruits in the shape of a happy face! It had oranges, pinapples, canteloupe, and kiwis! I'll update photos (I think they will be the first on yelp?). the second course was caramalized cinnimon apple crepes with sweet syrup, and the last course was chilled yogurt with bluberry topping. The second morning for first course we had fresh figs, grapes, canteloupe and grapefruit. the second course was spinach ommelette with balsamic tomatoes and wheat toast. The third course I forget because I didnt take a photo and I forgot. Sorry patryck, but I am sure it was delicious! The rooms are spacious with a window, ac/heater, huge bed, tv and closet. the complex has wifi and a very nice and clean bathroom. The beds are comfy and Patryck is such a sweetheart and so nice! He can guide you anywhere to music festivals, kinky adventures, bar hopping or clubbing. He's from France but his English is cute. A+! I'll be coming back again :)

When we arrived Patryck explained shoes must be removed when going into your room. I don't have a problem with that since I take my shoes off when I walk in the front door of my home. I was amazed how CLEAN my feet stayed while I was there. (I wish I could say the same for my own home lol). I stayed in the Inspiration room which is the smallest room. I originally planned to travel solo but ended up traveling with a friend. The room was still big enough for both of us. I was a bit concerned about not having a private bathroom, but never had a problem...well once...but I didn't have to wait long :) otherwise the bathroom was always available. This was my first experience sharing a bathroom...but it was all good. Everyone raves about the breakfast and I understand why. THREE COURSES! Who can eat that much food? The breakfast was amazing and I felt bad because I could never finish everything! Patryk asks you what time you would like to have breakfast and BAM it's done. He cook everything himself with some help from a young man. The location was phenomenal. You're walking distance from Beaudry station (approx. 10 minutes of walking) so it's super convenient. We were so close to The Village - I liked they have the street blocked off for pedestrians only in the summer time. It was always crowded with different types of people. The Latin Quarter is an easy walk as well. There's also a bike rack/rental right in front of the B&B if you're so inclined. I didn't try the bikes but would love to next time I visit. It's a very bike friendly city. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Montreal!!! Thank you Patryck for a wonderful stay in Montreal!!!
