For a quick birthday getaway, my husband and I visited Montreal for a long weekend and stayed at Le Saint Sulpice Hotel. No self parking, only valet. All staff were very nice throughout our stay. The room was so spacious and comfortable, it was like a proper apartment style room with a separate living area. The nespresso was really nice. The biggest plus was the luxurious bathroom, just perfect. For a romantic getaway, totally recommend this hotel. It's worth a splurge. read more

This is my favorite hotel in Montréal; located in the heart of old port with great access to lots of dining and shopping options. They really care about providing top notch service and the staff make sure to accommodate their guests needs in a timely fashion. They have recently started renovating the hotel; rooms, restaurant & bar, event halls and lobby. And I believe they have done a great job so far. The rooms are spacious and very quiet. The garden view rooms provide a great view. Everything you need is either provided in the room or you can ask and it will be available in a short time. One of the great initiatives they have is to make a donation for every bight you don't request change of towels, which I believe it's a positive step towards helping the environment. read more

This is our final night in Canada and booked this hotel to see Old Montreal before leaving. The service was great upon arrival. Quick and kind. The room is huge. Lots of space. The bathrooms are so large and updated and very clean. You can move around and the room doesn't get all steamy while you shower. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows are as well. Nice and clean. I had the best night sleep from my entire stay in Canada here. The location is amazing. In the center of everything and you can walk around and use this as your main point. I'm so glad we picked this hotel. It was perfect. I wish we had a place like this the entire time we were here but we weren't in Montreal the rest of our trip. This was a wonderful ending for our stay. I recommend this hotel and will stay here again if we ever return. read more

My boyfriend and I were in Montréal for a few nights and chose to stay at Le Saint-Sulpice because of the location. Check-in was smooth, as the desk clerks speak both English and French. Our second-floor room was spacious and beautiful, with a small balcony (not much of a view, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway). I also liked that there were two carafes for water (there is an ice machine that also dispenses water near the elevators) in the room, an environmentally friendly touch I appreciated. My only complaint is that the bedroom doesn't have enough lighting. The only illumination comes from two lamps on the headboard. It's nice when you're trying to sleep but not so much when you're trying to get dressed. I really loved my visit to Montréal and would happily come back and stay again at Le Saint-Sulpice. If I do, my French will hopefully be much improved. read more

Located right next to the Balica Notre Dame, it's in the middle of all these great shops and restaurants. Rooms were a good size, we had a room with a living space. The staff is helpful, friendly and really made our stay pleasant. The breakfast and drinks is a must at the hotel! All the items on breakfast menu is delicious. Very friendly staff, including the concierge- and efficient valet parking. Great location, and large, comfortable rooms. Within walking distance to all Old Montreal sites, restaurants and attractions. The one thing they must do, however, is not allow their inner courtyard to be used for loud bands or DJs. It ruins the peace and tranquility for all guest whose rooms face the courtyard. Parties are ok. But no loud music, please. Otherwise, highly recommended. read more

The hotel has very expensive parking rates, which we didn't know in advance. They also had terrible client service. We needed the sheets on one of the hotel room beds changed and we asked twice for assistance. We were told both times that we would get help straight away and it never, ever came. The restaurant is also almost never open for lunch and dinner. Also, they offered to charge our EV overnight before we left for home. We gratefully accepted, but they brought our car back without having charged it. Saying one thing, doing another, and charging through the nose to do it. I won't be staying here again, which is a shame because we had such a good experience here a number of years prior and its location is excellent. Too bad. read more

Everything I could hope for. I decided to book a trip for my mother and I for MOther's Day weekend. We decided on a 6 day trip to Montreal and I chose this hotel from reviews and their ideal location. Walking distance to so many things; from Notre Dame to the boardwalk pier area. The staff at Le Saint-Sulpice were nothing short of amazing. Our room was lovely and it came with all the amentities I was seeking. We had maid service and she left such a sweet note. Overall, I would recommend this place. They made us feel like a million dollars. Such wonderful hospitality. I would book a different hotel next time I'm in Montreal. Le Crystal to be close to St. Catherine where there is a lot of food and shopping options, or the Nelligan or Place d'Arms for a better looking hotel. Somehow the fixtures in this hotel just seem flimsy. The electric kettle is flimsy, the bed sheets are flimsy, the robes are not flimsy but super scratchy. We booked a suite with a balcony and got a room on the first floor that opens to the court yard. There is also a public street right in front of the "balcony" door so anyone can see into your room. We were here celebrating a birthday and we got a small square of chocolate (the type you get from turndown service) from management wishing us a happy birthday. However, if you have a pet, the room we had (123) would be perfect. A pup will be able to go right outside to the courtyard. My doggies would have loved this place. Service is also pretty good in general. read more

Bar/restaurant is a just tad further down and lots of signs and people to help you navigate around. I enjoyed the nespresso machine in the room and appreciated the bottled water I received from the front desk. I didn't realize there is a mini kitchen with stove/fridge/dishes in the room-I didn't use it but it's great if you have a family or want to reheat any leftovers or food. The staff was warm and welcoming, the valets were on top of it - even though it is in a very busy area, and the rooms and view were lovely. The Saint-Sulpice is fantastically located. We used their valet parking which was very easy both to drop the car off and to retrieve. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. The room we had was very spacious and well equipped with a kitchenette which is great in Montreal because there are so many culinary delights that are great to bring back to the room for snacks, breakfast or lunch. Save room for dinner out in Montreal, there are so many fantastic restaurants to choose from. The only reason they lose a star is basic room maintenance. The walls shouldn't be banged up, the washroom needed a refresh. I am always surprised higher end hotels don't have a maintenance person just go room to room and give it an inspection for small jobs that can be quickly done. i.e. broken light switch covers, paint drops on the washroom floor, poorly patched walls etc. I know I'm being picky, but in comparison for one third of what we paid at Le Saint-Sulpice we stayed in Pointe Clare at a Comfort Inn and it was flawless. The location for this boutique hotel is unbeatable. Right in the heart of old Montreal. The service from the staff is five star. They upgraded our room upon arrival, which was a very nice surprise. We received a box of chocolates in the room. The toiletries were from L'Occitane, a high-end French beauty company. Very happy! read more

Checked in the hotel only to find out there was no running water due to a busted pipe. Although, the hotel staff knew there was no running water they failed to inform the guest. Imagine how exhausted I was after flying on a plane all day and I can't even use the bathroom in my expensive hotel room. I promptly ask to speak with a hotel manager and was given excuses and offered a small bottle of water. I asked her where could I use the bathroom? She said "another hotel in the area." I understand unexpected events happen, however the hotel staff is lacking in customer service and professionalism. Not informing guests upon check-in that there's no running water or offering alternatives is unacceptable. The hotel could've at least had water delivered to the rooms for hand washing. We are still in an pandemic!!!! read more

Our king room was very roomy and well equipped with small kitchen and work space. The bathroom was just okay. It was cold with no heat. This is important because I was there in winter. I suggest they put in a heat lamp or radiant heat in the floors. It would really help. Otherwise service was great and friendly, especially the night crew. read more

From the moment we walked in to the moment the valet put is in a cab to the airport, we had a wonderful experience at Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel. The room was spacious and clean. The in room kitchenette was wonderful and I loved the nespresso machine. Antoine the concierge helped us find our way via the metro to a neighborhood maple syrup festival and showed us where to find a small market for sodas and waters. After staying in a boutique hotel like the Saint Sulpice, it's hard to ever imagine staying in a Hilton/Marriot/Chain ever again! From the moment the valet took our car to the multitude of questions we asked during our stay, to genuinely polite service at every turn, this hotel made our visit to Montreal feel like home--with a maid, butler and ever-knowledgeable concierge. A word about the concierge. Being a yelper and a somewhat anal do-it-myself planning kind of person, I've never really utilized the help of the concierge during my vacations. I plan things myself and I find things to do on my own by conducting some pre-trip research. My boyfriend insisted that we "play it by ear" (a scary prospect) and so I did not look anything up. We simply asked the concierge for recommendations...and they were spot on every time!! They recommended dance clubs, fancy dinners and more casual local places for us to eat. They helped us plan our day of walking around, told us where all the touristy shopping was, as well as all of the cool townie shops. They greeted us with a big smile every time and always asked us how our day had been. The entire hotel is impeccably clean and smells delicious (like someone is constantly baking pie or mulling fresh cider). Our room was enormous! Bigger than most of my friend apartments in the city, the bedroom was separate from the living area, which had a flat-screen TV, a comfy couch, a desk (that we did not use once!) and a fire place! Though it was too cold to use it, there was also a balcony. The bathroom was huge! All tiled marble, with a separate tub (big enough for two) and shower (big enough for four--if you're into that kind of thing) and stocked with L'Occitane products...you can always tell how nice a hotel is by the products with which they stock their bathroom! Right in the heart of Old Montreal, we were surrounded by little shops, cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture in quiet, peaceful neighborhood. We were withing minutes of Rue St. Catherine, the waterfront and public transportation (which we did not use, but always good know). Return trips to Montreal will lead me right back to Le Saint Sulpice...with all of the amenities, amazing staff and location, I've no reason to look anywhere else! read more

Highly recommend this well located, high-touch, great hotel. Excellent location - just steps away from the Basilica de Notre Dame and in the other direction, from the main street in the old town, Rue St. Paul (restaurants, shops, galleries, watefront). About four blocks from an easy to access Metro that will get you anywhere you want to go. Very chic, peaceful and great attention to detail. Wonderful staff, attentive concierge, and always great smelling and looking candles burning. Our large suite had a murphy bed and a pull out couch (perfect for the kids) a small kitchen with fridge, dishes, espresso maker (great espresso), stove, a couch, two flat screen tvs and french doors that opened onto a view of a nice back patio. The lobby has one computer with a printer and a nice looking bar and comfortable couches to lounge in. Excellent hotel...reasonable price for what you get...highly recommend. read more

We'll have to give a special mention to Eimie at the Concierge - who is a shining human being. Honestly, the stay would have been worth it for meeting her alone. This was our first trip to montreal but I don't think you could ask for a better location, being that this hotel is a stone's throw from Notre Dame. We booked one of the suites so I'm not sure how the other rooms are but the suite was perfect, equipped with a full kitchen, and felt like a cozy small apartment. We loved our stay here. read more

I loved Montreal but this well regarded boutique hotel disappoints, especially for the high price point. The room was spacious but cheap looking cabinets, an electric fireplace that didn't work and the lighting and esthetics were questionable. The television wasn't in line with the bed so uncomfortably positioned. The shower had no place to put the soap and shampoo so you had to lean out to the sink vanity to put down the soap! The glass shower enclosure went only one third of the way causing the bathroom floor to get soaked each time. The hotel lobby is small with very limited seating. The hotel bar was practically non existent with not even a single bar stool. The emphasis was on convention guests and event guests and when we bought a drink, the few tables had reserved signs for some corporate entity and we told them we were hotel guests and a manager had to give us permission to sit. I'm fine staying at a clean less expensive hotel with limited amenities for the experience that this provided. read more

Great location in Old Town Montreal. We were on a cruise, off and actually walked with our luggage to the hotel. We were hoping that they would hold it until checkin time. They did one better. They upgraded us to a beautiful suite with a terrace that was all ready. It had a great view of the city. The staff was courteous and friendly. The bar was excellent and also where I got coffee the next morning. I'm never good at using the in room coffee makers. Great turndown service. Excellent all around. We'll definitely put this on our list of Montreal hotels. read more

This is a wonderful hotel in Old Montreal and located just right next to the Notre Dame Basilica. You're just half a block away from Rue St Paul where the restaurants and galleries are. Pluses: 1) Toiletries are L'Occitane! :) 2) All rooms are suites 3) Related to the point above, each room comes with at least a kitchenette (Tip: Walk to nearby Le Petit Dep which is an absolutely cute French-Canadian grocery-cum-coffee shop, get pastries and coffee, and enjoy it back at the hotel) The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that there were some signs of normal wear and tear in the hotel. When we left the hotel with our suitcase, the bellboy stood by the door and saw us leaving with our suitcases but did not attempt to assist even if it was just holding the door for us. These are items for management to improve. But other than that I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

This was our second trip to Montreal this year. In June, we got a really good rate at the Intercontinental for a one night stop over. This time we were spending the weekend. We wanted something centrally located in the Port, and this fit the bill. It is a cute, boutique hotel, and had easy access to everything we wanted to do. Staff was super friendly and helpful, very approachable and kind. Room was clean, well appointed. I loved the couch and the kitchenette complete with stove and pots and pans. I'm not sure why anyone would want to do their own cooking with so many amazing places to eat, but, if you go to Jean-Talon market and pick up some beautiful things your morning breakfast would be great (but the crepe store the block was great...) We loved the exposed rock walls from the building next door that were throughout the building, reminding us of the position close to the cathedral and the long history of these buildings in Montreal. Other people here have complained about the Murphy Beds that the rooms have, but we both slept perfectly those two nights. Maybe we were super wiped out from all the fun we had. Tons of pillows, and the robes were a great touch too. My only real issues were: In the fridge in the room there were creamers for coffee. I had to pay for coffee downstairs (thought it would be complimentary for hotel guests but I guess not), and when I got upstairs I realized I had forgotten cream so I used one from the fridge. It came out like a lump of butter. I informed the front desk... luckily, the crepe store waiter made up for the lack of coffee Friday morning. Another issue was the darkness. The room was so incredibly dark, that moving around at night to go to the bathroom was a challenge and I had to use the flashlight on my phone. We tried to keep the bathroom light on and allow the frosted glass that faced into the room to provide light but that was too incredibly bright. A nice, simple nightlight in the bathroom would have been super helpful. I agree with the woman who complained about the fragrance in the lobby - while very pretty, it is a little overwhelming. Also, the shampoo and soap are super fragrant so if you have allergies you'll want to avoid those and pack your own unscented personal hygiene products. All told - this was a darling spot. I greatly enjoyed it. read more

A lovely hotel in an ideal location. A couple of problems marred the perfection, though. 1) The bed in our room was a Murphy-style bed that could fold into the wall. Ideal for business meetings, not so ideal for us on our romantic child-free getaway. The mattress was like a futon to sleep on, really hard and uncomfortable. 2) The "free wi-fi" in the room did not work well at all, and the business center had only ONE computer, which meant that there was nearly always a wait for me to get on and see what Yelpers recommended. On the plus side, the complimentary breakfast buffet was great, I had croissants and brie every morning. Some of the desk staff was helpful, others either knew nothing or spoke little English. read more

Perfect location in Vieux Montreal. Wonderfully attentive bi-lingual service. Amazingly large rooms. A shower with water pressure forceful enough to blow you clear across the bathroom. In room kitchenette with Nespresso coffee makers. Free wifi. Dog-friendly. It's all here at Le Saint-Sulpice wrapped up in a tastefully decorated skin. The hotel is more 3.5 stars than 4. The hotel is easy to get to. It's right in the heart of Old Montreal and close to the Notre Dame, Metro and 10 minutes from the affordable airport bus. Checking in and out was a breeze and service was courteous. Rooms are spacious, large and well equipped. The room is large enough that the bed is sectioned off into its own area. There's not one, but two LCD TV's incase you want to watch in bed or in the main area. In addition to the usual hotel amenities, there was a Nespresso machine with 3 pods and a Bodum electric kettle. There was even a mini kitchen with two burners, pots, pans and dishes. Decor was classy - the pictures speak for themselves. Now on to a few things that weren't so great. For starters, we were staying on the 1st floor and faced the courtyard restaurant. The sheers weren't opaque enough such that anyone could stare into our rooms if the curtains were open - so the curtains stayed closed. Second, the bass from the music blaring in the courtyard was enough to cause an annoying enough thump thump thump. Fortunately, the music is turned off at night, but it's on for most of the day. Finally, I found that the water pressure in the shower was lacking. read more

Anyone with allergies should avoid. - Bartender did not know basic drinks, like an old-fashioned. - We had room service for dinner and breakfast - very slow, presentation was not on par with a "luxury" experience in ANY way. Could not have asked for a better hotel experience. This hotel is in a perfect location, within steps to St. Paul street where there are tons of restaurants, cafe's and bars. It's also walking distance one of the entrances which leads to the miles long underground mall. The staff was exceptional and was as to check us in two hours early as well as give some great recommendations of places to go. They were also great about having the car ready for us at a moments notice. The room was perfect. Clean, spacious, large windows and the perfect set up for two people to sleep in separate rooms. They came to the room rag night at 9pm to turn down the sofa bed and were as polite as could be when asking what time they should come. Being that I shared the room with a buddy, this set up was perfect. The rooms have a lot of character them and aren't your typical W type rooms. They're just as elegant, but in a more interesting way. Old mixed with new, and done perfectly. The bar in the hotel was also an awesome experience. The manager stopped by to strike up convo with me and the guys. Gave us great recommendations of places to go and even wrote down directions for us. This hotel is amazing. I can't get over how great everything about it is. The staff they have working there is phenomenal, from the bell hops, to the front desk, to the maids. I stayed for business for 3 days 2 nights, the staff made some great recommendations on where to eat (Poutineville) and even walked down the street with me a few blocks to guide me to a restaurant within walking distance!!! The rooms are awesome, very spacious and open, and the beds come with body pillows (nice little touch). My bathroom had both a bathtub and shower. The free Wi-Fi worked great too, I was not slowed down when I did have to do some work in the hotel room. Room service was very friendly and the food was tasty. (That Montreal yogurt is out of this world...). All in all, it's in a great location, with a great staff, and a great vibe. Get in or get out. read more

I like this place. The "SS" is a boutique hotel in Old Montreal right around the corner from Notre Dame Cathedral. The location is particularly good for tourists (business travelers might prefer something slightly more central). Services and amenities are very nicely considered. Decor is a nice mix of old world charm with contemporary flair. I particularly like the way most units are suite-like, offering minimal kitchen facilities and separate bedrooms. Units with fireplaces are especially nice during cold Montreal winters. The lobby smells like apples-and-heaven (how do they do that?) and often sees guests drinking wine in front of the cozy fire. The gym facility is well-considered with a a nice mix of cardio equipment, free weights and a few basic machines (with 24-hour access). There is a small business centre and free wi-fi. The restaurant is pleasant and would be a great place for cocktailing, and room service is accommodating (humouring my requests for health conscious entrees even while recommending great wine). Potential demerits - interior bedrooms in the suites may seem small, and we had some loud-ish street noise that I expect would be worse in summer months. Concierge did well with restaurant recommendations and staff was always on hand to offer guidance re: local attractions, general directions. If you prefer a boutique hotel to one of the major chains, this is a great option. I'm a Four Seasons girl, and the SS did OK for me. read more

Went up to Montreal for the G&L Film Festival last year and stayed here. They were one of the sponsoring hotels. This place is fabulous...a boutique hotel just down the street from Notre Dame in the Old City. The suite we had was beautiful and well-appointed, although the bedroom was a bit small. But this is a very old building that has been retrofitted. There are fire places in some of the rooms and we had a jacuzzi tub in ours. Parking for your car is about $25 US per night. The hotel is cheaper in the winter than it is in the summer...go figure. read more

Oh. My. Goodness. After our first visit to the wonderful Saint Sulpice in February of 2008, we had to return in March of 2009. This delicious boutique hotel lives along Rue Saint Sulpice, right down the street from Notre-Damn. When you walk into the lobby it smells of wonderful L'Occitane lotions and soaps (which they provide you with in your beautiful hotel room). Truly, I can't say enough good things about this place. The 'S' Restaurant is amazing from the food to the wine. It was here that my boyfriend and I discovered Torbreck Juveniles wine ... oh so good. They also had a complimentary breakfast bar every morning and they had a large selection to choose from. I cant wait to go back!!!! read more
