I'm an RN and was concerned about infection so I inquired if he would give me antibiotics and was told no. Before my two week follow up appointment I could see my toes were too red and swollen with a definite sign of infection so I called the office and explained to the receptionist the situation asking to speak to the Dr, she went to speak to him and said he just wanted me to do what he told me and NO ANTIBIOTICS. I immediately went to another DR and he took one look at me toes and ordered a course of broad spectrum antibiotics. I canceled my follow up appointment because obviously there was no point in seeing him again and I feel he was negligent with my care and definitely do not recommend him.

I don't know what he did inside those toes, but whatever it was ended in disaster, because now the second toe is almost on top of the big toe, causing a deformity, and the only solution is another surgery to put a pin inside that one and the next (and another year of recovery if all goes well, which is not guaranteed). To top it off, the surgery has completely altered my lifestyle, as I live with foot pain on my toes and metatarsal. I can't use the treadmill or the elliptical at the gym; can't do Tai Chi, Zumba or any of the classes I used to take. Can't wear normal shoes either (only extra wide sneakers) or walk long distances without pain. I have never regretted something so much as I have regretted this surgery.

I felt very welcomed. Dr. Bridges has a fantastic bedside manner and really listened to me. He took his time examining my MRI. I felt confident in what he explained to me. He ended up draining my knee and he was very gentle and explained everything he was doing and asked if I was doing ok throughout the procedure. The whole experience was as pleasant as it could be. I have been suffering in chronic pain for well over a decade, perhaps a bit closer to a decade and…read morea half. I have been to at least 10 surgeons in my home state of Missouri and one surgeon at Mayo Clinic, with none of them offering me a solution to my pain issues aside from taking opiates, which is not something I wanted to accept for a lifetime. I have tried NSAID's, occupational therapy, PRP, stem cells, prolozone therapy, and just about every other non-surgical modality you can think of without any success. One day when I decided to look up "best hand surgeon in America" after being severely frustrated from chronic pain, I came across Dr. Badia. He has a section on his website where you can reach out to him prior to making an appointment and describe your issues to him. He is big on ensuring patients can reach his clinic in search of hope where other physicians may have failed them. In my initial contact, I advised Dr. Badia of the issues I've been experiencing and he offered me a potential solution with a strong level of confidence that he could help me with my issues. I then came from St. Louis to Miami and had surgery three weeks later and now I can safely say I am pain free for the first time in well over a decade. I immediately woke up pain-free from surgery and could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the suffering was finally behind me. What no other surgeon could do or was willing to do, Dr. Badia was willing to do. He immediately wanted to listen to what I had to say and was willing to treat me as a human with thoughts and emotions, and not just as another patient he could profit off of. He wanted to ensure I was comfortable with everything that was going on at all times during the treatment process and genuinely cares about his patients and truly is passionate about what he does. Thanks to Dr. Badia, my personal relationships are getting better, I am no longer constantly fatigued and miserable physically and mentally, I have reduced my medications by at least 75%, I'm happier, and I wake up almost instantly on a daily basis where I used to take several hours to fully wake up daily just from being in so much pain. I never realized just how fatigued I was from being in so much pain all because no doctor was willing to take a chance with me. Dr. Badia's level of skill and expertise is unmatched and I have been to some of the top hand surgeons in Missouri - one of which was even world-renowned and wouldn't help me with my issues because he wasn't willing to take a chance when I was willing to take a chance. Dr. Badia never once made me feel like he was superior to me because he was the physician but wanted to work with me as a team to resolve my issues. Dr. Badia has the quintessential clinic setup. His office staff are like a well oiled machine and every bit of my experience went without hiccup, especially considering the COVID-19 pandemic. I will continue to use Dr. Badia for any hand to shoulder issues and would gladly go out to Miami again as opposed to taking any chances of not receiving top-notch service from a different physician. Dr. Badia sees the medical system for what it is and doesn't believe the insurance companies should dictate patient care, but rather believes that the patient should receive the care they need in a timely manner, and has been working on a solution to orthopedic issues in South Florida by starting his own orthopedic urgent care called OrthoNOW. His views on medicine made my treatment much simpler than I feel it would've been had I received similar care in Missouri. He also has an orthopedic rehabilitation clinic, which helped provide me with greater chances of having a successful treatment. I have never been so satisfied with a physician in my life and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of quality medical care. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful man. Thank you, Dr. Badia. You are a true godsend.

He is exceptionally skilled and has an impressive training resume/CV. Dr Badia was highly recommend to me by another hand surgeon about 2 hours north. I am a veterinarian and I need my hands to be 100% to allow me to perform surgery on my furry four legged patients. The other hand surgeon I initially went to see for my injury said that he would recommend I go to Dr Badia because of his skill level and high case load. The particular injury I had was not super common in the general population, and was associated more with athletes. Dr Badia is out of network for all health insurance policies. So you will likely end up paying more out of pocket than you would with other doctors. But in my opinion, it's worth investing in yourself to ensure the best possible outcome for your injury. I'm still in the recovery phase, so I can speak yet on the outcome...but so far so good. The staff is all very kind and helpful.

This review is directed to the office management staff…read more The doctor, his nurse practitioner, and medical staff are fantastic, but the administration office had never addressed my concerns in a timely manner. I write this review to warn those who may value the after-care process after having surgery and giving this review one star so it gets the eyes it deserves in hopes that it may change things. Regarding my experience, I had two requests that took weeks to get resolved. The first instance was a couple of weeks after my surgery when I was experiencing some stiffness. I made a quick call to settle my worries, but no one answered the phone. I called again the next day to the same result (the voicemail system was down so I was unable to leave a message). It took 6 work days and calling multiple times for the last two days to get an answer -- all the while my stiffening was not improving. I was put in for an appointment the following week and everything was sorted out then. Total time: 13 work days (17 actual days). My second experience was getting a prescription for my x-rays as my final follow-up (I had to the x-rays from a different state due to work). I called 5 work days before my scheduled appointment to notify the staff I will not be there in person and would like a prescription sent for me. The voicemail system was up by this time, so I was allowed the option to leave a message, which I did. The office did call me the next day, but I couldn't answer because of work. I called again that day when I was available but to no answer. I left another message. The phone-tag continued for 3 more work days. The messages the office had sent me did not address the two main points I asked: 1) send me my x-ray prescription, and 2) tell me a time that someone in the office will be available during working hours and I will make sure to call then, as we seem to be missing each other. It took 5 more additional work days to get the prescription sent to me. By that time, I was already a week over my scheduled follow-up date. I got the x-rays done and the next day was signed off with no further issues. Total time: 11 work days (15 actual days). I'm writing as unemotionally and factual I can because I believe after-care is important to everyone. I know there are some who may not be allowed the luxuries I had: I'm young and can find time during work to make needed phone calls. Also, I was fortunate enough to not have any major issues result from my surgery. However, I know that isn't the case for everyone, and I would hate that someone would have to wait actual weeks before their issues can be sorted. Again, the actual medical staff (i.e. doctor and nurses) are great; the office staff is not. The distinction should be made there. I would highly recommend Thomas Temple as your surgeon; but also, I will highly recommend you take the business cards of everyone in that office so that you have a back-up number to call should any serious issues arise.
