Zur alten Ulme actually has an old elm tree right in front of the bar (hence the name), and there are all kinds of kitschy decorations hung in the tree. When you go inside, there's much more in the same vein waiting for you, plus two levels of model trains that circle the dining room, both overhead and around the tables. This is your classic rural restaurant, with a reliable steak, great fries, decent schnitzel, and those great German salads. If they have Landbier on tap, order it. You'll be glad you did. There's a kegel lane in the backroom, and the service is excellent. If you are ever in Kürten, this is a great place to hang out into the wee hours! read more
