We of course ordered Kölsch, which they bring around to drop off full glasses as soon as you finish the last sip of your previous glass. I ordered a dish from their seasonal asparagus menu, which was very tasty. The schnitzel was fried well without being too dry and the asparagus was huge, but still delicious. My bf got the Jägerschnitzel mit Pommes frites. The fries were crispy and the mushroom sauce was a great addition. Our server was very friendly and kind and we really enjoyed our meal here!

The servers and, I believe, the owners seemed to know everyone. We speak only rudimentary German and only one young woman spoke a bit of English. But we were still treated great. We muddled through the menu with what we knew and some guesses and a bit of help with Google translator. My wife went with the white asparagus risotto while I ordered one of the specials which we paired with a bottle of Riesling. Now to be fair I knew I was ordering a meat per the German word "fleisch". But I didn't recognize the type. Well "sülzfleisch" it turns out was a type of headcheese, home made, with a sauce on the side and baked potatoes. I was surprised but dug in. Both dishes were excellent! Great food and relaxed atmosphere. Worth stopping by.

Kolsch was served on a small tall glass (probably 7-8 ounces). The server would keep pouring more to refill your glass when you finish. If you don't want a refill, be sure to cover it up with a coaster. That would signal the server that you don't want anymore beer. We ordered their lunch special for the day which was pork ribs served with a choice of potatoes or fava beans. We had the fava beans. The ribs had a good flavor. The ribs on my plate were a bit dry but the ribs on my husband's plate were not as dry. I liked the fava beans. I enjoyed Kolsch. I would come back for the beer.

I had the fresh chanterelles with pork, another ordered the salmon with saffron honey, and the third ordered the beef medallions special. We also ordered the cheese sampler for dessert. We went with our waiter's recommendations on wine, and it was perfect. The waitstaff was very nice and we enjoyed visiting with them. They also recommended a quick tour of the inside, which was fascinating. We pretty much licked our plates clean and went away with big smiles on our faces.

I was pretty hungry as well, and without even looking at the menu, I spotted a dish that another guy was eating so I just pointed to it and asked the server if I could have what that guy was eating. She was really nice and made sure I had a full, fresh glass at all times. My dish resembled a shake 'n bake pork chop, but the best shake 'n bake pork chop anyone has ever had. A side of potato salad and a tub of mustard complemented it just right. It was very low-key when I came in, but it looked like a great place to party.
