I have two criticisms - it's been a long time since I've been in an establishment that allows smoking indoors. This is not allowed anywhere that I know of in New York, so it was surprising to me that this is still allowed. And I don't enjoy that, so this would likely not be a place I would go regularly. But once in a while OK. Parking is also limited in their own lot - and I worried about being able to fit in and get out of the lot - so we parked next door which also had me worried even though it wasn't a big deal and I didn't get ticketed or towed. But I did think about it multiple times that night.

The security guard even admitted WE WEREN'T BANNED, but were being REMOVED BECAUSE THOSE MEN COMPLAINED.. This establishment clearly prioritizes the comfort of rude patrons over the safety and respect of others, especially during PRIDE which is meant for CELEBRATION and INCLUSIVITY. The physical contact from both a customer and security was very weird and a serious concern. ESPECIALLY being with two fun size girls who aren't even 5'5... Avoid if you expect to be treated with low standard decency...

Groovys is a fun place to go for a night out. It's great for any age (over 21). It's not too…read morecrazy but not boring either. I like that they have a throwback concept. It makes them more unique compared to other places, and in general just makes it more interesting than any other more plain or standard dance place/ bar. There's a small dance floor, a bar, and a good amount of seating. It's on the smaller side compared to similar places. One time I went and they were pretty busy. This was a Saturday night. Another time I went on a Thursday night and my group were the only ones there... so I guess it just really depends on timing with this place and how lively it will be. One good thing was that when I went on Thursday there wasn't a cover charge, which after reading other people's reviews I was expecting to have to pay. I'm not sure if this was because it was Thursday, or because it wasn't busy at all, but I was very happy about it (I really hate cover charges...)! So at Groovys, they'll more or less go through the decades each night, and when it gets to midnight, confetti rains down on the dance floor. It's really fun!!! Plus, I appreciated that they did the confetti for my group of about 7, even though we were the only ones there. They could have easily decided that that few people weren't worth wasting a night's worth of confetti on, but they did. Not only were the bartenders (and owner I assume) chill, but the patrons were friendly. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was amazing! We had our burger with fries and grilled jalapeños. Omg sooo good. We def recommend!!
