The food was good, prepared quick enough, and service was excellent. Portion sizing was large. The dining room is large and there is an outdoor seating area. The wine selection was a bit on the sweet side for me. The beer variety was good. If I stay in Honau again, I will eat and stay here on account of the service, good Wi-Fi, and overall ambiance of the restaurant.

They have table service in the back (indoor and outdoor), and counter service at the front facing the parking lot, but it's a fairly small place really. We split a schnitzel meal (included fries and a salad), and it was enough for us, although we were only ein bisschen hungrig. The salad was quite large, and like a good German salad, was actually made up mostly of things other than lettuce. In this case a scoop of lentil salad, a scoop of pasta salad, a scoop of potato salad, shredded carrots, and cabbage saw, topped with a bit of lettuce and a bit of dressing. The schnitzel was fairly typical, but cooked well and tender. If you're visiting the castle, don't be afraid to eat here if you're hungry!

The outdoor area was really nice, but figuring out how to order was confusing. Once we figured it out we realized that there wasn't an allergy menu we could use for two of our boys. They ended up eating fries. I got a schnitzel which was tasty. I forgot what my wife got, but she didn't really like it much. As for dessert, I got a cheesecake that was a cheesecake and not much to it. My wife got a pear cake and she enjoyed it. Would like to give this place more stars, but since it didn't have an allergy menu I can't.

Being in Schwabian country, I wanted to get my fix of the local cuisine, and I wasn't disappointed! Must haves are the Schwabian Pork Medallions over Spätzle and the Maultaschen (my fav was the cheese sauce...the sauce alone is good enough to just dip bread in and be content, but throw a German "Ravioli" or two in there = MIND BLOWN!).
