"The best pig, EVER!" -Anthony Bourdain, as proclaimed to Joel Binamira, the founder of Zubuchon, in a backyard, years before the restaurant was founded. With that same recipe, Zubuchon was born... and it's greatness, as declared by Bourdain, is one that I experienced... and have confirmed!
You can order the classic pig, or boneless, by the "platter". A small platter stated to serve 2 and was P340. The *Fast Meal* sounded grander though as it did come with lechon, plus monggo soup, plain rice, and a side of acharra (fermented veggies). The serving of lechon came with two EXTRA crispy skins and a grand helping of luscious, melt-in-your-mouth and tasty pork. The monggo soup was quite savory and delicious, the chicharron on top giving it a bit of a crunchy texture. The added funk on the side with the acharra added another depth of flavoring. Multiple thumbs up with this meal... the lechon definitely shining! To keep the lechon as fresh as possible, lechon deliveries are made 2-3 times throughout the day. The dinner time lechon does deliver at 5pm, so if you come just before there is a chance it might not be ready yet, so do plan wisely!
With our appetites sated, we had to round off the meal with dessert. The *Zubuchon Dessert Platter* for P250 had all of the works -- leche flan, biko, budbud kabug, and two mango. Their biko was especially delectable and they made sure to drown it in brown sugar, haha. Everything was warm and yummy. We did indulge quite grandly here! There are several locations of Zubuchon. This one in the One Mango plaza is near some bars and karaoke bars, so I don't see why you couldn't hop over to them afterward. read more
