No frills, no thrills, no recommendations: upgrade from 2.5 to a reluctant 3 to be fair because the standard fare was nicely cooked, but just about as boring as every other such grill house in the Philippines.
We walk in hoping for something outstanding, but sadly, it's just the same moderately-flavoured stuff: ordered the grilled boneless bangus (milk fish), lato beaded seaweed 'salad,' grilled pecho (breast/winged) chicken, and a green buko (coconut) juice drink with the usual wee bit of soft flesh. All was okay, but no being able to apply spices and herbs beyond the predictable raw onions, scattered raw semi-hot little peppers, soy sauce and whitish vinegar means that the relative tastelessness of it all lands flat as if into the swamp from where some of it sprang.
Too bad, but Neo Neo by Jing Jing at the J. Centre Mall - this specific venue - is in a bad location, and as per the food, wouldn't cut it at any chicken or seafood operation in the developed world. If you want better grilled chicken, try the tastier Jo's Inato in the Visayas (but not Manga Inasato).
Sorry readers, but if you dislike mediocrity, skip Neo Neo! read more
