Leticia handles the setting up of the project, payment, etc. I found her to always be gracious responsible and responsive. Thank you Leticia! Project was going off without a hitch when in the last room, one of their machines had a problem. This was unforeseeable and could happen to anyone of us. This malfunction caused a slight unevenness in the sanding of the floor. Cristiano, the owner, came to look at it and without hesitation, owned up to this and stated that this would be immediately fixed, which it was. The entire floor was re-sanded, sealed and 3 coats of poly were then applied. The job looks great and I award these guys five stars for the outcome of the project, their professionalism for matching the color of new floor to the preexisting floor and huge kudos for their integrity and honesty. They stood by their work and made sure all was handled efficiently and professionally. Thank you Cristiano!

Let me share with you my experience,…read more Walter their salesman came out to give me a bid Once he found out that Home Depot had done the estimate already, he just used the amount of boxes which was about 80 for the estimate. He did no measuring or anything else. He was gone in about 10 minutes. (I needed only labor as I was purchasing the material from Home Depot.) Once we agreed on Price to have all the existing solid wood baseboard, removed the new floor put down and the baseboard put back. I agreed to the job. Pricing; I agreed on 50% down and 50% when the job was completed to maintain some control of the final product I'm very glad I did this. Their policy is to get 100% upfront, which I never recommend anyone for any service, ever do. The very next day after agreeing on terms with Walter, I got a call asking for 100% of the money I told this lady that's not what we agreed to and she said well that's what we normally do and I said you better call Walter. I'm gonna cancel the job. She did came back excepted 50% Overall, the subcontractors that came out from a company called Sun sunshine floors did a pretty good job putting in the material But it's the follow up , putting doors back on , getting trim put back on that was a real headache and took me almost 30 days to get done and also a threat of a complaint to get what I considered to be a very reasonable discount about $370 off my bill In the end, I fixed the existing problems myself because it was too much of a headache after they finally agreed to give me the discount Finally, a reminder again if you use this company, do not pay 100% upfront you'll have no control over the job over anything that needs to get fixed and you'll be working on their timetable, while they have all your money ------- Part 2 It's smart that Kelly took down her first knee jerk response to my above comment since is was inaccurate and not well researched. "Telling me I agreed not to leave public comment in agreement for the discount" -that was true if you accepted my generous offer.... the first go round. I'm going to guess that she finally got around to actually reading.... the 2nd email with my threat to file a complaint with yelp. Poof.....gone and replaced with boiler plate sorry we messed up and we should have done better. " Kelly, I wish you would have taken seriously my first initial complaint to your company and really taken the time to call me and find out what happened, Sincerely apologize, accept my generous offer and maybe even go a bit farther to make me happy and satisfied, If you had done so, we wouldn't be having this stupid engagement in the first place. Even after all that, I do hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

I had a very disappointing experience with Collen of Contreras Builds when I hired the contractor…read morefor touch-up and painting work on part of my exterior walls. In the painting project, I provided high-quality paint and caulking, and Collen's quote was higher than another I received. I chose him expecting better-quality work, as he promised. Unfortunately, the opposite happened. The painting was done unprofessionally and resulted in extremely poor quality. The contractor rushed through the job, painting two colors simultaneously without taping, which caused colors to overlap along the dividing lines. He also skipped the sanding step entirely, leaving uneven surfaces with rough patches, missed spots, and areas overloaded with paint that formed drips and bulky textures. Many gaps between wood beams were left unsealed, as shown in the photos. The contractor also made a careless mistake on the entire west wall--staining the narrow sides of the beams with the wall color, ruining the intended original color pattern and making the beams look flat and mismatched compared to the rest of the exterior house walls. Yet, Collen refused to fix the mistake. I also had Collen quote $310 to replace a water-damaged wood beam at one damp exterior corner of my house with a composite board for better water resistance. After removing the original wood beam, the wood board behind it also showed some water damage with two soft, wet spots. Collen instructed his worker to cover the damage with the front beam. Proper repair steps should include either replacing the damaged part or removing loose wood, treating it with wood hardener, and filling holes with epoxy or wood putty. Collen refused to replace it, so I scraped out the soft wood and let it dry while his worker was on a break. Later, the worker said that Collen instructed him to only put thin tape over the damaged board, leaving the holes unfilled. Collen also used a cheaper OSB board, which has poor water resistance and was not the agreed-upon water-resistant composite material--essential for this moisture-prone spot. During the two days they worked here, I provided boxes of water, baked a pizza, and asked if anyone needed a snack. I was friendly with the workers and thanked everyone throughout. However, Collen was often rude, disrespectful, and insulting--sending messages such as, "you wanted cheap work on a pile of shit house." He wanted me to replace all the exterior trims and parts (so he could make a bigger profit). On the second day (their last day on site), he repeatedly pressed for payment before the project was finished, even though I had already paid a deposit before work began. In the middle of painting that morning, Collen suddenly pulled the crew off the site. He then texted me a series of unprofessional and intimidating messages, including: "If the invoice can't be paid at 3 p.m. being reasonable, we will leave then do what we need to do." "I will take this to court which will cost a lot of money and my invoice will be out the door new pricing." Despite my assurance that he would receive the remaining balance once the project was completed, he continued to threaten me: "You can pay your remaining invoice right now but we are not doing anything more. If it's not paid then I will pursue with my report with my lawyer." "I will have my lawyer reach out and worse comes to worse we will file a lien with the city." Three hours later, Collen sent two workers back to rush through finishing the painting. I paid the invoice in full at 5 p.m. They left without the promised walk-through and did not complete the contracted work, including painting the soffit. The painting project only involved the west side and part of the north side of the house exterior. Although it was originally agreed to complete the north wall up to the garage door, Collen had his worker stop two-thirds through and demanded an extra $750--on top of the $1,870 already paid--to finish the job. This demonstrates his manipulative tactics and lack of integrity. Collen's claim that I was "hostile" is completely false. During the less-than-two-day project, despite Collen's unprofessional, rude, and bullying behavior, I remained friendly with the workers, thanked them throughout, and reminded Collen to be positive and constructive. After I posted my honest review, Collen retaliated by posting a false and defamatory review on my business site, claiming my home is "completely rotting"--which is untrue, as I regularly maintain and repair it. His statement that "Your neighbors did in fact reach out to us to let us know you cause problems with almost everybody" is entirely fabricated and clearly intended to damage my reputation. The above examples reflect only part of the unprofessional conduct and poor workmanship I experienced in this case with Collen. I hope no other customer has to experience the disappointing service I did.

We then met with several...ultimately choosing Cummings Hardwood Flooring. As I begin to write this review, I glance back over the earlier reviews (2020-2023) we originally found for this company...and can honestly say...NOTHING HAS CHANGED since those earlier postings. Our original meeting with Andy to obtain an estimate was refreshing (inclusive, respectful and knowledge-sharing). His team, as promised, arrived when he said they would. They were exceedingly respectful of the fact that I work from home (and wore earbuds rather than blaring a boom box and shouting). They seemed very organized, worked well together, and cleaned as they went. They completed the project in less time than estimated ("because Mike was on the job..."). Their style and workmanship are clearly deserving of a 5* rating...and we would highly recommend Andy and his team at Cummings Hardwood Flooring and use them again. The only thing we would encourage folks embarking on this type of project to do is invest the time to learn as much as you can about wood, textures, styles, colors, etc. The end product on our floors was much lighter - both in color and in finish - than anticipated. From our perspective it would have been helpful to have seen some type of color/finish samples to better understand the nature and results of the work being proposed. Clearly our bad...not theirs!! :)liz and alan

Their staff of workers are so knowledgeable about all the servivces and products they offer. After getting several quotes we had no doubt they were who we were going with, not only were they the most reasonable but also the most knowledgeable with over 18 years experience. They showed us the many choices we could make after the floors were sanded, the different color stains and finishes available that we could choose from. We loved being able to see just how the floor would look when finished. Bob the owner and wood floor craftsman, Eric the lead estimator and general manager, and Andrew and Brian the men who did the floors were great to work with. They were very conscientious of what work was needed and they answered all of the questions we had about the products they offered and how to care for our finished floors. The floors turned out better than we could imagine, Their work has brought an incredible beautiful new finish to these old floors that we never could have imagined was possible. Their dust free vacuum system is truly amazing! We can't thank you enough Magnus Anderson, we feel so fortunate to have your expertise on this job. Charles and Yvette

I would leave zero stars if I could. I'm not trying to be dramatic- DO NOT CALL USE THESE PEOPLE…read more OH that I could have a redo. For starters, Eric (the salesman) is very nice. He seemed to know what he was talking about and listened well. Here is what I wanted done: My kitchen floor, entry way, and matching hardwood window seat refinished, multiple destroyed boards replaced, a new threshold built between kitchen and living room, and everything stained a nice dark brown "Espresso"-type finish. He assured me that this would not be a problem. I told him we would be removing the baseboards and replacing them after the job was completed (baseboards were nasty and beat-up). I called Eric and Bob three days before work was to begin to ask if they could do anything about the squeakiness of the floors, just add that to my quote or something. I never heard back. I have 6 people in my family. We booked a hotel (very expensive for 6 people, since it was the largest room they had and only rarely unreserved). We moved everything out of the kitchen and just ate out the night before. Work was to begin at 9am. Bob (the OWNER OF THE COMPANY), called at 8 am and asked if he could begin work the next day, or maybe the next week because he had someone call out sick. I said that I was sorry but no- we had the kitchen torn apart, hotels booked, etc. He was very rude about it but agreed that he would start at noon. He didn't show up until almost two with no phone call and no apology. He came into my house in a rush, very rude, just running about shoving stuff here and there, almost running me over in his hurry. He asked me what color I wanted- I reminded him that I had asked for espresso. He said they didn't have a color like that. I hated all four colors he showed me, but didn't know what to do. He finally decided that he could mix one color with some black and that would do it. I reluctantly agreed (I'm not very good at standing up to bullies, and he is definitely a bully). When my husband and I came home the next day we were appalled at the horrible workmanship. Here's the list: - NONE of the boards had been replaced in any of the three areas we had work performed. - Stain all over my walls, laminate flooring, BRAND NEW KITCHEN CABINETS (note: we were planning on removing the laminate for carpet, but giving it away as it was still good) - Sealant running down my walls under the window seat - the new threshold boards were not cut to the same size as the other boards, preventing baseboard from fitting back into the space (most of the time, baseboard sits on top of the hardwood, but in our house it did not.) - multiple places on the landing and the window seat that were not sanded or stained. - the window seat was rough, like it hadn't been given a finish sanding. - several spots in the kitchen where the original clear-coat had not been removed, so the old floor color was still visible as the new stain wouldn't stick to clear-coat. My husband called Bob and he was EXTREMELY rude and kept making excuses for everything. Elliot asked him to just come to the house and discuss what would be done there. When he got to our house he was super angry, defensive, and RUDE. -He didn't fix ANYTHING. - He said it was my fault that they hadn't replaced the boards in any of the areas because I didn't tell him they were supposed to. (That's what a work order is for!?) - He said it was Eric's fault that the window seat wasn't finished properly because they don't have the right tools to do the window seat so Eric shouldn't have sold it in the first place. - He said that Elliot obviously didn't know anything about home building because baseboards go on top of hardwood floors. Elliot said yeah, maybe in most houses but not ours! - He said it wasn't their fault that stain had gotten on our cabinets because they taped them off. - When Elliot brought up the missing stain in all three areas and the stain coating our walls and laminate flooring, Bob had the audacity to tell Elliot that "I just don't feel like you appreciate the hard work I did for you! This floor looks a lot better now than it did!". He said he would take off the cost of the entire window seat and all of the not-placed boards.... When I got my final bill he had taken off $65.... off of over $1000. YES, it looks better, however that doesn't mean we need to "appreciate the job he did". Magnus Anderson/ Bob did a crappy, rushed, half-butted job and didn't care enough to fix it, or even apologize. Great company. *sarcasm*
