We decided to call Darrell's Air Coinditioning and spoke to Tam. We told him what the unit was doing, and he didn't believe that the issue was with the valve. He came out a few days later and added 1 lb of freon. There was no issue with the tvx valve, just a misdiagnosis from the other a/c company. The problem was fixed for 1/10 of the cost of the quote from the other company. We are now enjoying cold air again in the house. Tam was friendly, professional and knowledgeable with 16 yrs in the a/c business. He cares about his customers. I would highly recommend Darell's for your air conditioning needs!

In their defense, they did come back and replace it with a larger unit. But it is a giant square box hanging down from our ceiling. Wires and mechanics are all exposed. Even the larger unit cannot cool the space. The evaporater pump has failed 4 times, meaning that water pours out on our floor. Our electric bills have gone up a lot. Vortex will no longer come to service the mess they installed. We have been paying other vendors to try to fix the mess, but so far no luck. We'll be facing a total reinstall this fall.
