I greatly suggest reservations, we went early and had a reservation so it was perfect but when we left people with reservations were online outside. They are adhering to capacity guidelines so only a few can go up at a time and only a certain amount allowed in the restaurant at a time. Bring your mask! I went to Zona de Cuba on a Saturday night and the energy was electric. I was initially greeted by the general manager, Alexander. , and he set the tone for an amazing night. We were a party of 4 we were all-disappointed! Why make reservations to have your guest by the kitchen. Dress code: women can dress nice no sneakers. Jeans is ok. Men no hats or ripped jeans .. my bf were a pair of black sneakers and got away with it. Drinks: drinks were good. I had my wedding dinner here on 11/4 and I have no words to express how beautiful it all turned out. Amy family is still talking about how beautiful it all was and how amazing the service was. First, thank you to the most amazing manager Ricardo who is the best of the best. He understood my concept from the beginning and he truly accommodated my every needs. I even thought I would become a bridezilla but he was so patient with me. From the minute I walked in to meet him, it was amazing. The entire process was great and I recommend 100%. The service was beyond expectations. Everything was just flowing. People were drinking, appetizers came out on time, salads and the dinner was delicious. I was recently taken to Zona de Cuba for my birthday celebration with my family. From the entrance to the rooftop restaurant, I felt transported to a Havana nightclub! The decor is full of visual draws, from the trees to the lights, to the wall of multicolored champagne bottles, to the dancefloor which filled in waves of diners that couldn't sit in our seats for long because the music from the band that Saturday was amazing! My waitstaff were true professionals, and downright cool people! Franklin was our main waiter and he was dynamic, courteous, and hilarious. Giselle worked with Franklin and she too was very nice, professional and ensured that my table was taken care of (both of them actually). The Food: OMG! My husband had the ropa vieja. It was so good, he had to order another to take home and have the next day. I had a seafood platter with mussels, shrimp, and scallops. It was in this creole sauce that I wanted to drink by itself! This food was seasoned so well. I also tried a delicious seasoned fried rice that I too ordered on the side to take home with my leftover seafood dish. This is a diamond in the ruff. Not perfect, but cute for date night. After being in the house for months on end Zona De Cuba was the first place my boyfriend and I visited for an outside reintroduction. The ambience is absolutely beautiful! Both indoors and out! Now, I will say... it's a bit overpriced. However, the food is pretty good. I didn't love what I ordered (I think it was shredded Beef and rice). The concept was there but the sauce didn't do it for me. I can't remember what my boyfriend ordered. This review is a few months late. However, he enjoyed his meal. Portions are pretty huge too. The drinks are pretty! I ordered Sangria so I can't comment on strength. Sangria is just that... Sangria! But... definitely tasty! The waiter wasn't overly attentive but he wasn't negligent. It annoyed me a bit that gratuity was already included, but in these times I understand. Although, I really believe it makes wait staff care a bit less. Regardless, they get paid. A restaurant on a roof top in the south Bronx ? Who would have thought right ? Well change is a coming to the south Bronx and this staple of excellence is exactly what the south Bronx needed. Beautiful views (even in the winter) and amazing Decor inside really makes one feel as if they are in Cuba. You get that nostalgic feeling when entering. From the chairs, to the music, to walls. The theme is incredible, but enough about the restaurant itself let's dig into the food. I went around 5pm on a Wednesday right when "dinner" starts and it was not crowded at all. Not sure about how it is during the night, especially on a Friday or weekend day, but what I can tell you is, when you are walking passed the restaurant on ground level you can hear the music and see crowds of people walking down 150th street to go around the back to enter the building. So I would assume it's amazing. And to my understanding they have live bands later at night ! Me and my date enjoyed a chicken dish. We had the "MIS LINDAS PECHUGAS". We started off with the empanadas appetizers, which tasted amazing. A little on the pricey side for only three. Of them, but they do not disappoint. From the crust to the meat on the inside, it's amazing. The dish chicken was very tasty and flavorful, the avocado that was presented on the plate was very fresh. The rice, black beans and plantains were perfect. Now I didn't have any drinks or desert this time around so I can't give my opinion on that, but I could bet that it is also A1 as well. I was invited to a birthday party here and was excited to see what they've done to the old post office that once owned this building. On arrival it's a beautiful place once inside. Outside parking is a mess though but inside makes up for it. On the right is the restaurant and the left is the bar and lounge. It's all an open floor plan decorated with banana plants and windows that open to the outside wrap around patio. This alone is five stars just for the beautiful ambiance. Unfortunately the food is mediocre and the prices are outrageous. I was most disappointed by being turned away from the restaurant and being told we needed a reservation for dinner even though we had a birthday reservation in the lounge and sent over $2000. We weren't allowed to order dinner at all. Fortunately our cocktail server who was working our party was flirty with the birthday girl and allowed us to order dinner in the lounge but not without great hesitation first. I ordered a mixed seafood dish which was shellfish in a tomato sauce for $45 and it was okay not great. My hubby had the traditional Cuban dish for $38 and wasn't impressed at all. I may come back to enjoy the outdoor patio and drinks but not for the overpriced mediocre food. The restaurant features a spacious top floor dining area alongside a furnished balcony with a nice view of the city (Harlem/Bronx) The food was exceptional and the staff was attentive. Our large birthday party was accommodated well and had a great time jamming to the live DJ. The food service was quick even for our large order. I say save your money and book an actual flight to cuba. We waited 45 mins to be seated this evening due to lack of communication between staff. They provided us with a "free" champagne for the trouble but still added it to the bill had to request for it to be removed. Despite an unsuccessful attempt in June, I was finally able to check out Zona de Cuba this past Friday around 4PM with a group of colleagues. This time the doors WERE open with the bouncer we were told to expect. It was 100 degrees out and he was sweating profusely in his suit, we were all sweating. He thoroughly checked our IDs after asking if we had a reservation (we did but once upstairs they couldn't find it... that's a different story) and immediately imposed a ton of rules on us. He informed the only male in our party that there were no hats or cargo pants allowed (he had both) but he would let it slide because we had a reservation. I immediately wanted to leave because wtf? I cannot stand places with dress codes that are typically enforced on black and brown people and STRICTLY enforced in neighborhoods like the one Zona de Cuba is in. We are then led to an elevator because the restaurant is on the roof. The elevator are like elevators at Home Depot: it opened on both sides, was orange and silver and had no ventilation. Super industrial but not in a cool Bushwick, BK way. We continued sweating. We arrive to speak to the hostess who had a stank attitude and informed us that we in fact did NOT have a rez so we had to sit at the bar until 5 to wait to be seated. No problem. We head to the bar. I immediately notice lots of dudes in too-tight suits, a lounge area enclosed by velvet ropes, lots of natural light, an outdoor area, and overbearing Cuban decor. The place is beautiful but the layout is awkward. We settle at the bar. Everyone is super uptight in this restaurant. LOTS of staff everywhere. It's a whole production in a super uncomfortable way. There are no prices on the drink menu and once you get your check you quickly realize why. These ladies were not mixologists and my cocktail was so basic it did not warrant the $20 price with 18% automatic gratuity I later saw on my bill. There was NO flair. And the mojitos did not have sugarcane. We are informed a table is ready for us and Ms. Stank Attitude starts to lead us to our table. We are trying to settle our bills at the bar and she impatiently waits for us because she refuses to seat us until our whole party is together. What? You see us settling our bar tabs don't you? The woman with the stank attitude and big curly hair leads us to a table OUTSIDE. Mind you, it's like 100 degrees out. She says she has to sit us outside because we didn't have a rez and all the tables are booked. The lounge area is appetizers only. Had it been up to me I would've stayed at the bar but the rest of my party didn't mind sitting outside so I just sat in my sweat for the next 2 hours. My party is determined to order food while I complain about the heat (we were under an umbrella that shaded us for the most part but still...). They order pork chops. I wait to order, I can't eat when I'm hot. I finally cool down and decide to order the mofonguitos, an appetizer consisting of three little mofongos with shrimp. Our food arrives together and I quickly notice the mofonguitos are laughably small as are the shrimp but I start eating them (each can be eaten in 1-2 bites) and I'm immediately disappointed in the complete lack of flavor. Literally NO FLAVOR. The texture was fine but NO FLAVOR. And for $16?! My friend's porkchop dish came with a side of garlic sauce so I stole some to make my dish better except the garlic sauce didn't even taste like garlic! WHERE IS THE GARLIC FLAVOR?!. I still doused the mofonguitos in the "garlic" sauce for lubrication I guess. Kind of like a competitive eater. I quickly finish my three bites and my friends are still eating. I try a piece of pork. Again, great texture but NO FLAVOR, not even salt to elevate the porkiness. I was still hungry so I decide to order the "lambi," conch, salad. I love conch but only when it's nice and soft NOT chewy. I ask the server about the conch & she says it's very popular but can't speak on the texture because she hadn't tried it. How do you serve food your servers haven't tried? Isn't this fine dining? I order it against my better judgement. I was surprised the conch was pretty soft to the bite, but again, NO FLAVOR! I ask for hot sauce to remedy the lack of flavor. They give me Tabasco. No house made hot sauce in an establishment of this caliber?! Also can someone explain to me why my tomatoes were unevenly chopped and the stem part of the tomatoes were in my salad? Shouldn't you be discarding that? Isn't this fine dining? I am gravely disappointed in Zona de Cuba and I doubt I will be back. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars and hoped that the previous reviews I read were not accurate. Well here is my experience... First, to even get to this place is confusing. The address states on Grand Concourse, however, entrance is on Anthony Griffin Place behind the post office. They offer valet parking which is great, because you don't want to have to walk far when you leave... I don't venture into the Bronx much, but my friend is familiar with this area. So they check your ID and and then take the elevator up to the rooftop floor and you are transported into a beautiful restaurant that has a Miami/Cuban vibe. We went right to the bar to wait for our friends. When my friend walked in with her son, hostess stated we could only sit in the dining area and not couches ( their lounge area) understandable... We all sat down, ordered drinks and waitress came around maybe once or twice to take an order. When my friend left with her son, we moved to the lounge area which was so nice and cozy and we had such a nice view.....we ordered appetizers which were way over priced. I mean Manhattan prices... 3 empanadas for $16, thats way too much. Considering the area, amount of food.. way.too.much. Mofongitos $14. My friend ordered french fries for her son, $8! Why? Whoever came up with these prices for food needs to take a closer look at that and revise. Empanadas -were good but overpriced Mofongitos- I've had better, overpriced Drinks- okay, way too sweet ( red sangria) Service-NEEDS WORK, took over 30 minutes for my drink to come, it was not even that busy. Also, I noticed a young child, similar age to my friend's son in the lounge area later that evening. Now why we were told we could not sit in the lounge area, not really sure. It appears as if all rules don't apply to everyone. Not acceptable. Did not appreciate that. I would just come back to have drinks during happy hour and thats about it. Maybe brunch. I heard a lot of buzz about this new rooftop in the BX that had recently opened so naturally when I got invited, I was like yes let's go! Based on the pictures I had seen from their Instagram page, I didn't expect this spot to be located in the heart of the Bronx above the post office but there it was. Parking can be extremely difficult to find so I highly recommend you do valet which is only $20 and well worth it. We waited online and luckily we had a 8pm dinner reservation so the wait outside was not too long. You had to take an elevator up which looked a little sketchy not going to lie and the crowd was extremely diverse. It was clear this place really did not have a dress code so I was hesitant and anxious to see what waited for us once those elevator doors opened but I was pleasantly surprised! The décor is gorgeous and there was a different vibe depending what part of the restaurant you were in. Since we got there early, we decided to get some mojitos by the bar. We wanted to seat by the lounge area but apparently that area is only for parties of 5 or more and just for appetizers. We took a walk outside and the view as the sunset was breath taking. Not what you expect in the Bronx but the vibe was super chill and plenty of areas for that perfect postable social media pic! When we were finally seated, we started with a pitcher of red sangria which was a whopping $45 but it was good. We got a kick from the menu item names because you could tell there was a lot of thought put into them. Names like "Mis Lindas Pechugas", "Y La Cola Pa Cuando" and "Temblo El Mar Y Tierra" lol so creative right?! For starters, we got the "Chef Segundo Sampler En Su Jula",which literally had all your typical fried appetizer items as it well should for $35. This included queso frito, empanada, chicharron, tostones, longaniza, yuca frita,etc. and was quite popular amongst the other patrons. I had no idea what to get for my entrée and since we were seated right next to the Chef's kitchen, I asked what the Chef what he recommended. He said without a doubt try the "Rellename El Pescado, Amor" which was a whole snapper filled with coconut rice, lobster, clams, shrimp and scallops. I was like wow that sounds good but my friend decided to order it so I got the second best thing since I did want seafood which was the "Lambete Mi Cazuela Cubana". This was a casserole of shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari and lobster in this amazing creole cream sauce topped with tostones. Both dishes were amazingly flavored and the portions were huge! They did not skimp on the amounts of seafood which I thought was a big plus. The couple that we were with opted for more traditional Cuban dishes which were the "Me Comi La Vieja Con Ropa", which is typical shredded skirt steak with rice and maduros and "Comete Mi Falda" which was their 12 oz skirt steak. Overall, the vibes here were amazing!! Yes, it's a little pricey but definitely worth it. This restaurant is in the middle of the hood, where I'm from and they had the audacity to tell my husband and I that we could not enter because my husband had athletic wear. He had one a luxury brand suit. Mind you there were people in dingy jeans and boots. Not sure what they are trying to accomplish other than an empty business. We only wanted to support the business as native Bronxites, even though the food is honestly just average. Below is a picture of my husband and I, we looked more elegant than everyone there. So sad. Came here for dinner with friends on Sunday and it was just amazing. My sister and I had arrived earlier than my other friends but we were seated right away. We ordered a bottle of their house champagne, which in fact was nice and bubbly and more on the dry side (Definitely a brut which is my fav). We shared the plátano relleno whichever was stuffed with ground beef. Delicious. I had the fried snapper with Moro negro as an entree which I found really tasty. It came with a mojo creamer sauce in the cutest little bottle! The fish was fresh, but it needed a little more flavor. This place has a live band on Sundays and Wednesday's, would definitely be back for drinks soon. The service was pretty decent, I have no complaints. The restaurant has a Latino vibe to it, which makes you feel right at home (all Latinos please visit soon). Again I'll definitely be back! read more

This place was AMAZING but with a fault... This place hands down is stunning... we came her for my friend's 30th birthday day, 17 people in total and we brought our own cake... first off, it on a street on its own, that's kind of hidden (so drive slow when your GOS tells you, you will be approaching soon) but they have valet as soon as you pull up and two doormen to check to see if you have a red and if majority of your party is here (80%) so they can direct you to the elevator that will take you directly to the restaurant. The elevator doors open up to the hostess table and already you can here the live band and see the fake palm trees everywhere. The main dining room is large, with all tables seated inches away from each other, boots are outlining the sides of it and there is a photo wall in the middle of what looks like a dance floor. You can see the kitchen as it is open to the restaurant and the bar is magnificently huge; all the while the entirety of the restaurant has a jungle/ tropical them to it (they even have flowers coming down from the ceiling). The service was quick, prompt, on top of every request, had suggestions ready, kept our drinks flowing... I mean there is nothing negative to say about this wait staff... I mean our waiter, Eduardo, in particular, that on top of everything I listed, was so friendly and courteous... The drinks and food. Was spectacular. We had several pitchers of original minutos and passion fruit mojitos... the passion fruit barely had alcohol, so we mixed it with the original and it was great! I had some of the best Spanish food I have eaten at a restaurant (nothing comes close to my family's cooking lol). It was a large party, a party of 17people so unfortunately I could not take all the pictures I wanted, but I took enough for you guys to get the gist. We had cheese empanadas, ropa vieja (about 5 were ordered in total) monfongitos, and maduros with shrimp.... I mean the flavor alone is enough to give this restaurant 5 stars..... BUT and it's a big one...And this is why 3-stars and not 5 They are charging... $3 a slice to cut a cake that, not only you buy and bring yourself, but willing to cut yourself.... Now why on earth would you charge on something like that? Honestly that ruined the entire night for us because everyone was looking forward to cake... and I am sorry... we were not going to pay an extra $51 (17people x $3 per cake slice) on a cake that we already paid $70 to get it made.... That literally blew any fun that we was having and it just looked cheap on the restaurant... is your rent that high, because your plate prices are high for what the food is... you can go to Havana Cafe on East Tremont, get the same amount of food and drinks, but not pay over $1,000 like how we did... I would never come back here for a party.. especially a birthday party that most people will bring their own cake regardless.... With the rooftop ambiance, this restaurant has the potential to be a 5 star experience. If you are just going to hang out with friends or mingle over a few drinks, while dancing, it works. The production, however, needs improvement. First, the security to enter might be off putting to some. A restaurant + security enforcing subjective dress codes before club hours are a bad mix. Something as simple as signage helps so that people dont have the weird or embarrassing experience of being turned away at the door. And that happened when I visited, which is unpleasant for all involved. Second, the menu is somewhat confusing and definitely over priced. $16 for 3 small empanadas is weird and then you have to choose a combination...meaning you cant get 3 beef, but have to mix 2 beef and 1 cheese or 1 seafood and 2 cheese...etc. weird. The price point for that appetizer seemed like $10-$12 would be more appropriate. I ordered a pulled chicken dish simmered in saffron rice with tomatoes, avacodos, and peppers. You do get a lot for $25. My wife's dish, consisting of white rice, seared chicken breast strips, and tasteless black beans came out to $24. The salmon, ordered by some in the party, looked good, but the only sides were veggies and that dish was $29. You question the menu when it seems like the prices were determined arbitrarily. We came with a big party and got seated outside due to this allegedly being the only tables to accommodate us. It was sunny and hot at 7pm and it cooled off in about 25 minutes. One issue is that the shades that are available seem ineffective and that kills the rooftop experience if some in your party are burning to death while trying to enjoy a meal. I would hope this would be an area of investment so that on sunny, hot days, the experience can be improved. Overall, we enjoyed our time. However, the food was unimpressive for the price point. I would recommend a visit if you want to down a drink on a nice day after work, enjoy some convo on a rooftop, and rub shoulders with a trendy crowd [hint, if you're single and looking, this would be a good place for you]. This place is a mirage because it promises so much more, you come away feeling somewhat disappointed. And that's a shame. The view and uniqueness of the spot in the area, however, is where this place shines. Hope they are reading these reviews and taking this feedback seriously. Improve the quality of the food and some of the operational quirks and you will have an absolute winner on your hands ! This would have been 2 stars but the ambiance saves it. read more

I came here on a date. My first time being here. And the whole experience was just dope. It was pouring down raining outside but inside was indeed beautiful. The food, the drinks, the service , the scenery was perfect. I will definitely go back again. Very pricy but worth it. My meal was nice & fresh. read more

I've been here for brunch (better experience) & last night for dinner. The decor is spectacular bc it makes you feel like you're on a tropical vacation. It's a little pricey but the food is good & the drinks are ok. Love that they have a live salsa band. Not sure if this happens every night but it's definitely nice. I had the cazuela cubana, which is a seafood dish served w/ crispy tostones...tasty! The dish on top was lindas pechugas (chicken breasts) served w/ black beans, white rice, sweet plantains & avocado...yum! The other dish was el rabo (oxtail) served w/ pigeon pea rice. The oxtail was nicely seasoned! I only have 2 cons. One, they definitely need more waiters. Tracking our waiter, Victor who was very nice, seemed like mission impossible. Two, they need a better hostess with less attitude & who is more personable. Angela was very rude & nasty. She has NO people skills what so ever. Even the table next to me agreed. read more

I heard about this place on Instagram. It's absolutely beautiful starting with the red carpet outside. You have to show proof of Covid vaccine at the entrance. You then take an elevator upstairs where the decor is beautiful with flower walls, mirrors and lots of lights perfect for Instagram worthy pictures. You can sit outside or indoor, if outside they provide you with blankets to shelter from the cold. The outdoor rooftop is very beautiful and spacious with tables or lounge chairs setting. I had a Rosé sangria, it was delicious and strong. My friend had the salmon and I had the red snapper, both dishes were tasty and delicious. The waitress was attentive, too attentive every 5 minutes coming to the table asking if were okay. I think it was because they have a 1 hour 30 minutes timeframe to dine in. Overall, great place to visit. Valet parking was $20.. a bit pricey, but everything is expensive due the pandemic. read more

Here's the sitch! Long line outside but that's for the elevator - if you go to plenty of rooftops downtown this is always the case, do not get discouraged! The place is absolutely gorgeous! Kudos to the decorator and developers. The staff is kind and attentive. There were fresh utensils between meals, plates were retired and our appetizers were brought out quickly! We are starting at 5 stars, right?! Okay minus one! Cocktails~ I'm a cocktail snob. I would gladly pay $20 for a basic drink because it has popcorn in it. I've done it before. So you come to a Cuban restaurant and you promptly order a mojito ( but not an original, you want the passion fruit one!). So imagine when you get it and it's passion fruit cocktail, not nectar. You know the Goya Brand that's shaped like coconut water box? Ewww- artificial flavors. Charge $1 extra and don't skimp- Minus 1 Food~ Blake's Vaca Frita was unavailable. I guess to be expected considering I've never met a Blake that was Cuban! Okay, terrible joke. But seriously, if something is a staple in your menu 1) you should always have it available especially if you arrive at 5:45 and they opened at 5pm. Shit happens, so the server should explain the menu. Minus 1 Bar~ the bartenders try; however I suspect they water down their liquor - sat at the bar for 5 minutes 4 people complained about their drinks. Finally got to try out Zona De Cuba , after following them on Instagram and loving all their posts. I am so glad I did. Place is a little hidden , neighborhood not so great , but if u drive there it's not that bad - they have valet parking. It's a rooftop restaurant- very spacious, beautiful decor, live band, amazing atmosphere, and great vibes. Everyone was wearing masks, the whole place , bathrooms, everything looked very clean. All employees were very polite , including the chef who personally came to our table to introduce herself. Sunset was amazing ! Food was Very, Very delicious!! I had the salmon with grilled veggies , but I'm dying to go back to try that stuffed fish with seafood. Cocktails were very good too! Had the passion fruit Mojito. Definitely recommend this place ! I was welcomed by four security guards who, one of them checked my ID and the others complimented me and said i look like a bouquet of flowers... I loved almost everything about this place! OMG I loved the Live band!! They just add to the wonderful experience! Its beautiful, from the decor to the people! You feel like your in an island... away from the Bronx! I just wanted to dance salsa, wear my curly hair and just be awesome! The sky view adds a special touch! I must say, I never even seen the TYPE of women that attended.... anywhere! Plastic surgery central! Good sight for the men... big booty gals just walking around with short dresses! My eyes were crawling waiting to see whose ass cheek was gonna come out first, or whose boob was gonna bust out they dress. Some males were dressed soooo awesomely with fedoras and boat shoes! I loved some of the outfits! Lmao anyways, I loved it. The music was awesome! The food was great! The experience overall was awesome!
