And I can really see why. Marietta, the owner, really takes pride in the hand-dipped ice cream and frozen custard she sells. She even has a breakdown of how 'thickly' her main ingredients are mixed into her custard on the counter, to assure hungry customers that they are receiving nothing but the best, and not some watered-down, overpriced mainstream chain fare. There is always a vast variety of ice cream flavours to please even the pickiest of frozen fare eaters, and the custard is truly to die for! Every time I end up back in Michigan, this place is on my must-go list, and this visit, I tried the chocolate chip almond coconut ice cream. I'm not even a huge fan of ice cream in the summer months, but this was AMAZING!! Just the right amount of everything, with little melt-in-your-mouth mini chocolate chips to offset the sweetness of the coconut. My husband had some sort of double Dutch chocolate concoction, which despite being a double scoop in a waffle cone -- and despite his skinny build -- was literally obliterated in seconds. It's mildly deceiving as it's located in a gas station parking lot.... but a fabulous find!!! I was initially told that they had unique flavor offerings, but that is a tasty understatement. In my current third of five days in Saginaw Twp., I've tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter and completely devourer their Tri-Carmel and Copper Country... the Tri-Carmel an obvious medley of carmel ice cream, carmel ribbons and chocolate covered carmels, and the Copper Country a delicious mix of HOMEMADE brownies and carmel in vanilla ice cream. Additional offerings include Troll Mint (chocolate with Andes mints), Peanut Butter Banana (self-explanatory), and Dog Puke ("colored cookie dough in a colorful base") .... and a barrage of flavors including ingredients like coffee, dark chocolate flakes, toasted coconut, and other awesomeness.
