I had a pair of turquoise hearts (small) that needed grommets to put in French backs. I took them here and had them made into earrings for $16.00. They ordered the grommets and when they came in they called and I went back and they put the grommets and French backs in. I am so pleased and wanted to share. They do repairs and have a lovely selection of beads and lots of other things. read more

The store has so many beautiful beads and other great items to buy. The young man who helped me was fantastic. He is the owner's son who is taking time off from college due to Covid. Beware of the store policy. Members of my family have been to Sugarbeads at different times over the years. We never felt very welcome - the store seemed to cater to their regulars and we often felt like a nuisance. Nevertheless, my teenage daughter and a friend of hers went to Sugarbeads recently to have some fun creating jewelry together as they also wanted to use a gift certificate the friend had received as a gift. Despite having made beaded jewelry in the past, the staff made my daughter and her friend feel like they needed to take a "lesson" before doing any work. Too intimidated, and perhaps too naïve, to say no, they agreed to a lesson. I asked my daughter if it was an actual class where they learned some new beading techniques and she described it as the staff person measuring their wrist, providing some wire, telling them to lay out their beads in the order they wanted them and then advising them to use a crimp bead at the end. None of these instructions were new to my daughter and yet it cost the kids $35...each! I would have thought Sugarbeads might provide some basic instruction to get more people involved in beading at their store, but instead they use their "lesson" as a profit center and it appears that, to get their ridiculous fee, they prey upon those easily intimidated. My daughter was visibly upset when she came home. She showed me the simple bracelet she had made with $6 worth of beads - all she could afford after paying for the "lesson" - and told me what had happened at the store. She was ashamed about losing the money - as if it was her fault. Thank you Sugarbeads for taking what was meant to be a fun experience for these two teen girls and changing it into an outing they will always remember - but not for any positive reason. Two days later, the mother of my daughter's friend went to the store to talk to the staff about what happened. The store personnel indicated what had taken place was "policy" but eventually offered a credit to help offset some of the more than $70 they had taken from the kids. While you can be assured no one from my family will ever go near Sugarbeads again, I wanted to post this to hopefully prevent Sugarbeads from using their "policy" against you or your family. The only "lesson" Sugarbeads offers to its customers is for the buyer to beware. read more

This shop is great for kids as well as adults that want to create their own higher end looks. There is a great selection of unique and semi-precious beads to choose from and the owners are great at helping out (i.e. tying clasps on) when you need it. read more

I had so much fun at Sugarbeads yesterday. I stopped in here on the way home from a vacation, and am I ever glad I found this shop! It has such unusual and beautiful treasures...I was gazing at them all afternoon, wondering what I should create first once I got home. I'm already plotting another trip to Connecticut, and this time we'll have lunch in the beautiful little town of Ridgefield on the way.
