Zips Lanham location did an excellent job ! Very professional and timely . will use them again.

This review is definitely long, but if you are thinking about using Zips Cleaners for any service, I Highly suggest you read this review first. My ordeal started on 5/4/26 and it is now 6/5/26. They burned my suit pants, and left a black mark on my vest and they still have not compensated me for it. In fact they are ignoring my complaints and not responding to my emails. Please read my timeline below and view the pictures as well. This review will definitely help you make a decision of whether you want to take a RISKY chance using Zips Cleaners services. Monday - 5/4/26 - 7am - Took 25 items to be dry cleaned at the Lanham MD location 8805 Annapolis Rd Lanham, MD 20706. These garments consisted of full 2 and 3 piece suits. Tuesday - 5/5/26 - 7am - Picked all the items back up. Later in the day I inspected the suits. During so I discover several burn looking pattern marks on my brownish/ dark gold pants. I discovered almost the same burn mark on my gray pants but it wasn't as noticeable as the dark gold pants. I discovered a dark black mark on the gold vest and also some white marks on another suit. The main issue was the burn marks though especially on the dark gold suit pants. If an item is defective Zips will put a blue tag on it labeling it as defective or it has some type of issue. This was not the case with my damaged items so obviously my garments were in tip top shape when I left them in Zips care. Wednesday - 5/6/26 - 8:50am - I contacted zips through their website and let them know what was going on with my pants. I also sent pictures after the General Manager Lori responded to the complaint. Through email the General Manager instructed me to take the items back to the Lanham store and ask for the store manager Ana and she would help me. Thursday - 5/7/26 - Took all the damaged garments back. Friday - 5/8/26 - Called Zips they told me my garments would be ready at 5pm Saturday 5/9/26. I asked her if I could just pick them up Monday and she said that's fine as well. Monday 5/11/26 - 7:30am - I get to zips to pick up my items. I let the cashier know about my situation. I even showed her pictures of the damage. She looked up my account and immediately brought all the items over to me. They were all pressed and on hangers and in the plastic suit bags ready to go. The white marks on the dark brown suit were gone so it looked like they dry cleaned them again. I inspect the items and before I could even say anything the cashier saw the burns still on the pants. She said it looked damaged by the iron. That's what I thought all this entire time. Monday 5/11/26 - 2:20pm - I called Zips and talked to Ana the store manager. She informed me that she knows it's not stains but its ACTUAL BURNS. She said that she's waiting on Lori the General Manager to see what she wants to do. I emailed the General Manager the same day and explained all this. Lori Madero (The General Manager) emailed back and basically was saying how my logic was flawed and I guess her Store Manager's logic was flawed as well and pretty much on the defense of the company. She also seemed like she had an egotistical superiority complex. She said "the cashiers shouldn't be giving their opinion on garments"... like we are in a country with no Freedom of Speech. The cashier just said what it looked like, she wasn't giving a professional opinion so why be upset at that? Then the General Manager Lori continued by saying that only she makes the decisions and not the cashier nor the store manager. She said only she can inspect the garments and make her own assessment before a decision is made. Yet I was not told any of this beforehand. I was led to believe that the store manager who works at that location full time would handle everything. I responded in kind and the last thing I asked was for her to have better communication going forward and I will need to know when she is coming to that Zips location so that I can bring the garments back for a 5th time beforehand. She ignored my email and never responded. 5-19-26 I sent physical printed letters to their corporate office. 5/31/26 I submitted more complaints on their website and still no response. It is now 6-7-26 and still no response. I have not even been offered a refund on the damaged items. I hope this gives people a better idea of what happens if Zips Cleaners damages your items. They will take no responsibility for it and they will stop contacting you intentionally. read more

I came in to have my pants re-creased because they were double creased the first time. Unfortunately, they're still double creased after the redo. This has now happened twice. I asked for a manager and they looked at me like I was speaking French. I finally just walked out. I guess I expected more from them. read more

I ask for my sweater with hoods to be folded over the hanger and it's not difficult to do. I keep getting my clothes back with the hanger through the neck of the sweater or sweatshirt. Then I have hanger marks in the shoulder of the clothes. Then this is the 3rd time I say no creases in my pant and the pants have creases in them. Refuse to give me a refund and I don't want a credit to the account. read more

This location is hidden off 450 in back of the dollar tree; you literally have to drive to the far right of the shopping centre and go to the back. It was off putting to me as this location will have ample people working but only one assisting customers, this location does not accept cash which for me I use cash to maintain my budget. Seemed off to me that I was required to use my card for a $22 purchase. Also when I was notified my clothes were ready for pick up I arrived a day later and they still needed to bag them. read more

They lost my clothing - admitted it and then spent the next 2 months arguing with me about reimbursement. Save your money and your time and find another quality local dry cleaners. I will NEVER spend another dime with a Zips. I finally got reimbursed when I threatened to go to the state's attorney general. Absolutely ridiculous. They should get negative stars. read more

I come here often to get my clothes tailored and the guy they have is the best ! I've tried other zips seamstress and none of them are as good as him. I do wish the price went down for everything by 5-$10 it's a bit pricey to keep coming back but he's so good so I will stick with him. read more

I would give this business less than 1 star if possible. I took a dress with a stain to them on a Thursday. They said it would be ready by Monday after 5pm. I went early Tuesday to pick it up. It comes out on the carousel slung haphazardly on a hanger - dragging on the floor. I was told by the manager that they were unable to dry clean the dress because they tag inside said professional dry clean only. I asked the manager weren't they professional dry cleaners. I received some bogus, ridiculous answer. I asked why wasn't I notified. They said it wasn't their policy. They offered to do a do over. I took my dress and left the store with a refund. I needed it to wear by Thursday so it was no time to go to another cleaners. I ended up hand washing the dress and treating the stain myself. I believe they washed my dress as it was way tighter than it was before I took it to them. I won't be back. Another customer had the same problem with a coat. Terrible service I dropped off my dresses and they promise they could dry clean it. I arrive the day of and the day my dress is not cleaned as they refused and I was refunded. After standing in a long line (temperature was about 94 degrees) I realize there were fans for the workers but none pointing in the direction for the customers. I dropped items off to Zips Cleaners on November 9th, almost over 10 items . However, when I went to go pick up my items on November 19th and got home to examine my items. I noticed what looked to be bleach stains on my knit dress. Once I noticed the stain, I called the store immediately at 11:34am to report what I've seen to a manager. The employee I spoke to explained to me that a manager was not in at the time and wouldn't be in till after 12:30pm and they would call me back. However, I did not receive a call. Instead I went back to the store around 4:45pm and asked to speak to the manager. She was not rude, however, the response provided to my complaint was unsatisfactory. She explained that the stains were already on my dress from the store video she watched. She did provide screenshot views from the video and the pictures that were provided to me does not show any clear stain on my dress. I was given another managers number and they will not respond or answer my call. It's sad I have to make this review as I've used this location before. And when there have been stains on other items I've taken, I point them out and they add tape to mark off the stain. This dress is quite expensive and I'll be will be filing a claim with small claims court as the owner explained he will not be satisfying this issue. I have been to this dry cleaners before and had no issues. But on my last visit with a down comforter, which the zip's website says they do clean, they refused to take my comforter. The manager said that they don't do anything with down feathers, which is ridiculous because last winter I had it cleaned at the exact same place. Since I've never had this problem before I'm shocked and there's no signage anywhere saying that they don't take down comforters. Next time I will go to a different dry cleaner. read more

RIDICULOUS/ABSURD service...I spent nearly $50 on 6 items that I continuously returned to them twice after leaving and once again at the counter, because they DIDN'T even ATTEMPT to CLEAN or deodorize my clothes. What's worst is that 4 of the items were 100% cotton after telling me that polyester stains can't be cleaned. Perhaps they thought that I was IGNORANT after bringing them back so many times. What is the purpose of a clothing cleaning company if you don't specialize in "cleaning"? I left messages and emailed the manager, Justin, and also the franchise owner (who is not the lady pictured, BTW); however, I've received no feedback. ZERO STARS....The Manager Debbie Hernandez is a terrible manager, had to wait 30 minutes to get my clothes (5 shirts and (2 pair of pants which the could not locate) While Ms. Hernandez was on break in front of store with her friend I nicely asked if she could come help her new employees if should could assist them finding my clothing and she actually waived me off saying I'm on break, the assistant Mgr was also on break leaving 2 new employees to run the front, so I ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes for the assistant Mgr to come off her break to help the new employees, I think that is very unprofessional for the manager to waive off a paying customer of over 10 years instead of helping solve the problem, she the manager she can finish her later on after the problem is solved, this is my second run in with this Mgr, please something needs to be done, more customer service training or something.....UNACCEPTABLE, Please someone needs to reach out and have a discussion about who ZIPS allows to manage there establishments, VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER read more

General Manager Justin Downs is negligent, and this business will continue to do whatever it wants until it's held accountable. The owner of this franchise cannot be reached and so the only recourse I have is to report to the community. Zips put a hole in my knit skirt. The manager watched the camera and confirmed the skirt came in without one. She asked me to provide my receipts for reimbursement. After emailing Justin for months, my reimbursement was declined. He told the manager to tell me "if my skirt had a lose string the hole could've formed" and this is not their fault. They are speculating and assuming this hole is a result of a loose string, instead of recognizing the evidence their management provided. I've been seeking reimbursement for months and after one phone call with Justin who told me he would look into this, he ghosted me and has not returned a message. His poor business ethics are the reason I will never patronize them again. Don't use this location out of convenience like I did for years because it WILL cost you. read more

I definitely recommend Zips just DON'T GO TO THIS ONE on Annapolis Road. I have an ez drop bag which allows me to drop my order off at any time. When I sent my nephew to this location, he didn't see the box so he inquired inside. The very "rude" clerk wouldn't answer his questions about the bag they kept insisting on a phone number. Worst service ever !!!! I have never had as horrible of an experience as I've had at this location. First of all I left 3 coats with the understanding that one may not be able to serviced, but I'd be notified if it couldn't. Only to never be called or updated. To go to pick up all coats thinking they had all been cleaned and not one of them had been. I tried to call the manager only to be met with hostility, assumptions and disrespect. The two coats that were suppose to be cleaned with your question returned with fort and hair all over them as well as a very foul odor. I will never ever ever use this location if any zips again. The worst cleaners ever. I should have read the reviews first. I bought a brand new bridesmaid dress here just to get the wrinkles out. I got my dress back with wrinkles and stains.They said we'll do it over. I said ok...just get the stains out I'll walk down the isle with wrinkles if I have to. They seem to have replaced my clasp with a raggedy one. They stitched places that I didn't ask to be stitched. Edit: another find. These effers sowed my zipper. Why? I didn't ask for it. The customer service is horrible. They said my comforter set would be ready at 5p Friday April 30. I get there about 430 and they have lost my comforter. I want my set or the 100.00 I paid for it. They could only find the pillow shams. This location is awful and needs to be closed for customer service training. Reply to comment: You are lying I was still on the highway driving until after 4p. I was not there until close to 430p. You told the cashier to tell me to come back the next day. So you are lying and it was lost and you needed time to locate it. So stop lying. If I could give less then one star I would. The last two photos provided shows my jacket before Zips damages. I always look at my clothes before leaving this establishment. Upon my inspection the manager, advised she had to go look at video of the cleaning process upon her return she had spoken with the owner, Bart Cassillo who informed her there's nothing that can be done. No, can we give you a refund for the damage NOTHING! I call Justine Downs who I guess is the area manager who hung up on me!!!! Nothing was rectified. I dropped off a dress to be taken out in the bust area, which was not done. Instead another area of the dress was let out. The employees were both sitting on their phones when I came in to pick it up and the man who rung me out (rude African man mentioned in numerous other posts) was having a full blown conversation on speaker phone. When I was trying to ask him questions, he seemed annoyed that I was doing so. I've pointed out to the clerk when my clothes have stains that I'd like them to attempt to remove. It's only until I get back and home when I notice that those stains are still there (minor* stains) , without any notice from zips staff. Also, after picking up my black slacks, they have white stains on them which weren't there prior to dropping them off to get cleaned. This location and possibly franchise lacks attention to detail and quality customer service. This dry cleaners is so unprofessional. I walked in for alterations and no one spoke to me or anything. After standing for about 15 minutes, I asked is the alterations person here today. They said yes but he's on lunch. He's only in from 8-1pm 3 days out the week so I didn't expect him to be on lunch and if he was why did they just let me stand there without saying anything. It is 11:40am and you leave at 1pm. Doesn't make sense to me but being ignored while I'm clearly waiting for a service doesn't make sense either. read more

Never again!!! I brought a dress and a cotton scarf with makeup on it. They didn't even bother dry cleaning it. They literally flattened out the scarf (not ironed nor steamed) and put it on the hanger. The dress still had something on it. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

This Zips actually does not clean anything. I used to use one in DC regularly and never had an issue. But if there is anyone, franchisee or franchisor, who cares about this business they may want to consider doing a quality control check or just cleaning house and starting over. I took a garment back that was given to me with deoderant still on it and when I picked it up the second time it still had deoderant on it. My collared shirts are never cleaned and it appears the only thing this place is good at is breaking buttons. I agree with everyone who hated having to give this place 1 star. I am posting this comment because of the assistance I rec'd from Ti Nele McCalvin a few days ago. I am a regular weekly customer, and I request that my clothes don't have safety pins in them. There is a miscommunication with what you request and what the employees see, so I have been having this issue all summer when I send my shorts. She spoke the mgr Annetta who was also very helpful in explaining the process. She was kind enough to give me # so I can reach out to her and she will take care of the problem before I come in to get my items. I bought my family's dry cleaning in on this past Monday......when my husband picked it up yesterday evening, my daughter notice a burn spot at the bottom of her short sleeved ROTC uniform shirt and she was very upset as I was. I know for a fact that before dropping our clothes off that there wasn't any spots on those clothes especially that uniform shirt - I checked everything as I always do. Then what really got me was you had the nerve to attached a special ticket to the shirt saying that the stain was already there and y'all tried to get it out. That is a ball face lie that you told and I don't appreciate it at all. It is time for my daughter to turn in her uniform for the school year and she is very upset that we have to pay for damages done by ZIPS. My daughter was having a conversation in her ROTC class last week and they were discussing who was the best dry cleaners......her teacher didn't have anything nice to say about ZIPS......she said that don't do good work and the customer service really sucks.......she hit the nail right on the head and all the other bad reviews I read so far. Once I submitted the necessary paperwork, stuff like type of coat, how much I paid for the coat, when did I buy the coat, I am happy to say that Zips in Lanham cut me a check for what it would cost to replace the coat, no haggling or questions asked. The unfortunate thing about a mistake is that they can't be reversed. Needless to say, I haven't been back this particular Zips location because I don't want to go through this again. read more

Damn, if only I had read the reviews on this place FIRST before I had gone, man. Damn. Let me tell you, I agree with the prior reviews, this place doesn't even deserve ONE star. I wish there were an option to give the place a ZERO. I brought my sweatpants here for cleaning and sewing of a small hole in the pocket. I paid the nearly $10 for the service and was told to come back in approximately a week later. A week and a day later I come in and they give me my gym pants uncleaned and the hole was not sewn. They had no explanation and even demanded I show them my receipt PROVING I paid for sewing. Like REALLY??? They finally verified I was telling the truth and PAID for sewing and asked me to come back in three days. I told them to "kiss my @$$ and give me my motherf---ing money back." What a terrible place, man. They give Zips a bad name. The General Manager Justin seems to be a decent guy, but why does he hire such crap employees?! Does he even read all these negative reviews?? So I decided to give zips a second try as I needed some dresses cleaned for next week (first time they over-charged me and stapled a tag through a fine-fabric shirt I had which effectively ruined the back). As I walk in I noticed that the place has gone downhill since my last visit over a year ago. The store is dirty, there is trash everywhere, tv doesn't work, signs are dangling off the wall, and the doors/windows look like they need a good wipe/dusting (I leaned vs. window and my hand came back with smudge). Whatever as I'm still half-zombie from a long day at work. I approach the front (after a ridiculous wait time). I give my garments to guy behind counter who begins to quickly count my garments. I asked about the cost of laundry per pound and he doesn't know (seriously?). I proceed to pre-pay and he tells me they don't take cash. We stare at each other and I begin to come out of my zombie state. I tell the guy I don't have a credit card on me so to give me my clothes back. I begin to go around to better grab the bag which is when I realize my clothes is on the ground and he must of been stepping on then while he processed my transaction. I was shocked as I assumed he had a bucket or bag near his feet where the clothes was being placed. I leave so pissed that a place would so carelessly treat my clothes. I really tried to give this place a second chance but the quality of their service is intolerable. I'm going to continue using the place near my job even though it's far but at least I know the place is clean, will care for my clothes and do just about anything to make me feel good about using their services. If only I could give this place a zero.... I just picked up my garments and am sitting in the car as I write this review because I am DISGUSTED by what I just encountered. Let me preface this by stating that I've never had an issue with the actual dry cleaning services. Employees are generally fairly pleasant and my clothes are acceptable. Now, with that, I went to pick up my garments today around 6pm and walked into an All-American sweatshop. The high today was 92 degrees and ZIPS has its employees working in a warehouse with absolutely no air conditioning. The only means of "cooling" were two box fans placed at the front entrance. These fans were doing nothing but circulating the disgusting, hot air throughout the establishment. I have never experienced such a total disregard for employees in such a cruel and brutal way. I questioned if this had been the case all day, and an employee told me that this is how it is everyday- no air conditioning. My 10 minutes there was beyond unbearable so I can only imagine what 10 hours would look like. I will NEVER in this life or the next, return to this excuse of a business. I know that ZIPS can be franchised so whomever owns this location, I hope one day you experience the type of literal hell you have your employees working in. I will definitely be following up with a report to ZIPS corporate following this review. read more
