We had eat there before and drove from Columbia 41 miles to meet our friends who came from Jackson. We had planned to order chicken livers but they were out and we opted for the fish plate. It was the worst we had ever had. 2 little hard filets, a very small little bowl with a big spoon of slaw. The hush puppies were frozen and heated up. I love hush puppies but these I could not eat. But just as we started to eat the asst manager came to the table and said whoever was in the white van they had to move it. It was taking up 2 spaces. So Linda gets her keys and goes and moves it but said it was on the line not taking up another space. The front parking is reserved for pickup orders. My husband had asked special permission for them to park there because Tom is in bad health and on a walker and they have no handicap parking. Most of the guest parking is over on the side of the building and he could not have walked that far. We needed handicap but made do. The reason the van was over the line was because the truck beside them was over in their space. We will not be going back. Our waitress was nice, but the food we ordered was not good. My husband ordered a ham and cheese po-boy and it was good he said. The business needs some updating and as we were getting sit a roach was running under the table. Yum!! We were driving through Mississippi to New Orleans and stopped at this little cafe for lunch. We had the Zip burger and the fried chicken special. My family was passing through on our way back home from vacation. It was busy so I'm hopeful it was good food. The burgers were delicious, fries were ice cold and half raw. This is obviously a local spot because our waitress completed ignored us to talk to the locals. She passed by our table 10 times as we sat there waiting for our check. After 20 minutes, we finally got up to walk to the register just to ask for our check so we could pay and leave. Be patient with the wait staff during this crazy time. They had tons of curbside orders as well as several of us waiting for tables in our cars. Once at the table we were served Saltines and their famous Zip sauce. It was a nice little treat to sample while we waited. Y'all. Y'ALL!! Stop here! My husband and I just had an awesome lunch on the way from DFW to Gulf Shores. They have this magical Zip sauce that was good with just saltines dipped in it. Was great on the burger, with the fries, on a salad. Amazing! I had the chicken and dressing with rice and gravy, yams, butter beans and cornbread. Really enjoyed this lunch stop on our road trip from Texas to Florida. We were nervous when we pulled up that it would be a long wait because the parking was full of cars and then we realized quite a few were there for curbside pickup. Our waitress was extremely friendly and the bathroom was clean and nicely renovated. We each ordered the Zip burger but we are looking forward to coming back for the minute steak which looked really great also. We also had the battered fries, sweet potato fries and chili fries which were also tasty as well. My only hesitation in writing this review is that it will make the restaurant too crowded the next time we are passing through town. read more

Stopped at this little cafe on our way back to Dallas. You have to be looking or you're going to miss it. Although a little hesitant initially, when we entered, as we were the only people of color there and no one came out to greet us, we reviewed the menu and decided to stay. The dining area is small, but has a flat screen TV for viewing. There is only only one unisex bathroom. The menu offered a lot of variety. Daily lunch plate specials are available. My husband had the fried chicken special with rice and gravy (it's brown gravy), sweet potatoes and corn bread (choice of roll or both available). The sweet potatoes are served fried and they were delicious. This place is known to have the best burger in Mississippi. So I ordered the Zip burger with bacon and a combo of hand battered onion rings and fries. It is served with their signature Zip sauce that they are very proud of, Lol. My husband enjoyed his food. I sampled his chicken and it could have used more seasoning for me. He said that the rice and gravy was good. My burger was good, it was fresh and not a frozen patty. It wasn't the best I have ever had, but it was good nonetheless. The fries come battered and the onion rings were light and crispy. Over all I would give the food a strong 3.5 stars but with them giving such a large and continuous serving of sweet tea and our waitress being very attentive, and the total cost of both meals being only $16.94, I gave them the other half star! read more

Driving through Mississippi from Destin and needed a place to stop in and eat for lunch. This cafe had a lot of good reviews so we stopped and both hubby and I tried the zip burger, which is voted most famous in Mississippi. Waitress said the homestyle fries with batter are the most popular, so we tried those and they were good! Not greasy like you would think they would be for being doubled fried. Zip sauce was good, on the sweeter side, went well with burger and fries. Tomatoes tasted fresh on burger, however was messy and a little soggy towards the end from lettuce and sauce if that matter to you. It came with rice and gravy and a roll. The fried chicken was very crispy and juicy and he could have drank a bowl of the gravy. I ordered the Zip's burger that was supposed to be the best in MS. It's the only burger I've ever had in the state and it was flavorful and everything they advertised. I had home style fries and my son had crinkle fries with his grilled cheese. The fries could have been cooked to be more crunchy. It appeared other diners were having the crispy batter fries. Overall a very good place to stop for lunch and be one with the locals. Made a stop here on the way to Dauphin Island from Dallas. Our visit was on Monday afternoon at 1:00. Our waitress, Baritt was very friendly and accommodating to my unfortunate dietary requests. My husband and daughter both ate burgers and their claim as the best burger in Mississippi measures up! My picky teenager loved the fried chicken tenders and most especially their homemade ranch dressing. I am currently in the middle of my Whole 30 diet and their grilled pork chop salad and baked potato hit the spot and kept me in compliance! The pork chop was tender and tasty! All of that being said the portions were generous and the price was more than reasonable! All four of us ate and spent only $36. A final note, they served fresh brewed iced tea- not the instant kind!
