It's been a great place. My mom and grandma used to eat here all the time but now that we've moved we rarely get to eat. But when we're in Magee we are always sure to stop by Zip's. read more

We had eat there before and drove from Columbia 41 miles to meet our friends who came from Jackson. We had planned to order chicken livers but they were out and we opted for the fish plate. It was the worst we had ever had. 2 little hard filets, a very small little bowl with a big spoon of slaw. The hush puppies were frozen and heated up. I love hush puppies but these I could not eat. But just as we started to eat the asst manager came to the table and said whoever was in the white van they had to move it. It was taking up 2 spaces. So Linda gets her keys and goes and moves it but said it was on the line not taking up another space. The front parking is reserved for pickup orders. My husband had asked special permission for them to park there because Tom is in bad health and on a walker and they have no handicap parking. Most of the guest parking is over on the side of the building and he could not have walked that far. We needed handicap but made do. The reason the van was over the line was because the truck beside them was over in their space. We will not be going back. Our waitress was nice, but the food we ordered was not good. My husband ordered a ham and cheese po-boy and it was good he said. The business needs some updating and as we were getting sit a roach was running under the table. Sort gives a bad impression. read more

Very slow. Waited an hour for a burger and fries chicken. Food was good, if you have time to wait.

On the way to Gulf Shores. Found this little restaurant with big food. Husband had zip burger and I had the fried chicken. Delish. They were extremely busy but Rachel treated us as though we were the only people there. Will try to time our trip back so we can stop in again. read more

Great food and friendly service. I had the vegetable plate which was ok but seemed to be canned veggies - hush puppies were really good. Hubs had shrimp poboy which was excellent. If you are worried about covid and social distancing you should prob skip this place ‍some people wearing masks but most weren't. Waitress was super nice ! read more

Yum!! We were driving through Mississippi to New Orleans and stopped at this little cafe for lunch. We had the Zip burger and the fried chicken special. The burger is big, juicy and never been some preformed frozen patty, the onion rings are hand breaded and delicious. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection and the sweet potatoes-yum!!! The waitress was nice, the restaurant was clean but it was very cold. read more

Stopped here for breakfast and had a wonderful meal. Service was perfect. Staff made this place standout. The food was pretty good also. We ended up having breakfast and lunch foods. My daughter said her fried pickles were the best she's ever had and the zip burger was pretty amazing. We loved this place! read more

My family was passing through on our way back home from vacation. It was busy so I'm hopeful it was good food. The burgers were delicious, fries were ice cold and half raw. This is obviously a local spot because our waitress completed ignored us to talk to the locals. She passed by our table 10 times as we sat there waiting for our check. After 20 minutes, we finally got up to walk to the register just to ask for our check so we could pay and leave. She finally got the hint and ended her conversation with another table and gave us our check. Definitely will not stop here again. read more

Slow, wrong orders, you name it. Food is inconsistent. Cracked a tooth on the hamburger meat so I never went back after that costly situation. Used to be good. Not worth the frustration to eat there even if it was going good. Don't even stop to eat anywhere in Magee. read more

Zips Cafe is the best burgers in magee ms and their famous zips sauce should be sold in stores!! highly recommend.

Better be Hungry if you order the Catfish dinner. Fish, fries, slaw, rolls and hush puppies. A generous portion of all. And worth it!

Be patient with the wait staff during this crazy time. They had tons of curbside orders as well as several of us waiting for tables in our cars. Once at the table we were served Saltines and their famous Zip sauce. It was a nice little treat to sample while we waited. We went with the Zip burgers and a variety of home style fries, battered fries, and onion rings! I would highly suggest the onion rings!! The Zip sauce didn't disappoint and was a great addition to a fresh, perfectly cooked cheeseburger. Our waitress was so sweet as well! Great little gem in Magee Mississippi!! read more

What a treat! We stopped in on a whim while on a roadtrip and we couldn't have picked any better! Great burger place, clean, and waitstaff were awesome. There were 11 of us and Zip's was very accommodating. The prices were super reasonable at $62 for all 11 of us. We're earmarking this place on an off chance we ever find ourselves in this area again. Wtg Zip's! read more

Great food & service. We got the lunch special...Fried Chicken or Smothered Steak with rice & gravy, Mac & Cheese, butter beans & corn bread. $8.39. My son had a burger & said it was very good. Fast, friendly service. Conveniently located close to HWY 49. It was freezing in there, though. read more

Y'all. Y'ALL!! Stop here! My husband and I just had an awesome lunch on the way from DFW to Gulf Shores. They have this magical Zip sauce that was good with just saltines dipped in it. Was great on the burger, with the fries, on a salad. Amazing! I had the chicken and dressing with rice and gravy, yams, butter beans and cornbread. It was complete with a slice of canned cranberry sauce. Seriously incredible comfort food. We are already planning on stopping again on the way back to Dallas. read more

One of the best hamburgers and battered fries I've tasted since moving my here from Texas. And we've been searching everywhere.

Really enjoyed this lunch stop on our road trip from Texas to Florida. We were nervous when we pulled up that it would be a long wait because the parking was full of cars and then we realized quite a few were there for curbside pickup. Our waitress was extremely friendly and the bathroom was clean and nicely renovated. We each ordered the Zip burger but we are looking forward to coming back for the minute steak which looked really great also. We also had the battered fries, sweet potato fries and chili fries which were also tasty as well. My only hesitation in writing this review is that it will make the restaurant too crowded the next time we are passing through town. read more

Definitely not the best burger in Mississippi. Food was cold. Fries were room temperature. Took an hour to get our food when burgers shouldn't take near that long. The service was slow and waitress only checked on us once. However I do have to say that the famous zips sauce was pretty good and the food was inexpensive. read more

I haven't eaten here in at least 12 years and I made it my business to stop by on my trip home this time. I've been all over the world serving my country and the Zip burger is still the best burger in the world. Highly recommended, you won't be sorry! read more

Stopped at this little cafe on our way back to Dallas. You have to be looking or you're going to miss it. Although a little hesitant initially, when we entered, as we were the only people of color there and no one came out to greet us, we reviewed the menu and decided to stay. The dining area is small, but has a flat screen TV for viewing. There is only only one unisex bathroom. The menu offered a lot of variety. Daily lunch plate specials are available. My husband had the fried chicken special with rice and gravy (it's brown gravy), sweet potatoes and corn bread (choice of roll or both available). The sweet potatoes are served fried and they were delicious. This place is known to have the best burger in Mississippi. So I ordered the Zip burger with bacon and a combo of hand battered onion rings and fries. It is served with their signature Zip sauce that they are very proud of, Lol. My husband enjoyed his food. I sampled his chicken and it could have used more seasoning for me. He said that the rice and gravy was good. My burger was good, it was fresh and not a frozen patty. It wasn't the best I have ever had, but it was good nonetheless. The fries come battered and the onion rings were light and crispy. Over all I would give the food a strong 3.5 stars but with them giving such a large and continuous serving of sweet tea and our waitress being very attentive, and the total cost of both meals being only $16.94, I gave them the other half star! read more

This place used to be amazing. Burger was still good but our last visit here was very disappointing. Staff barely spoke and I didn't see a single smile. Felt rushed out the door. Pork chop was tiny and very hard and onion rings had zero flavor. Not sure what happened but probably won't be back for a while. Just a word of advice, a smile goes a long way read more

Great southern Food for the soul! Wonderful "Zip" Burger, but I am always torn between the smothered steak and pork chop! Everything good and very reasonable. I can't pass it up unless its Sunday and they are closed! read more

Great burger and fish plate... loved the coleslaw. The place was packed, so service was a little slow, but friendly!

Driving through Mississippi from Destin and needed a place to stop in and eat for lunch. This cafe had a lot of good reviews so we stopped and both hubby and I tried the zip burger, which is voted most famous in Mississippi. Waitress said the homestyle fries with batter are the most popular, so we tried those and they were good! Not greasy like you would think they would be for being doubled fried. Zip sauce was good, on the sweeter side, went well with burger and fries. Tomatoes tasted fresh on burger, however was messy and a little soggy towards the end from lettuce and sauce if that matter to you. All in all was very good, not the best burger I've ever had, but defiantly not the worst. It was worth the stop for us! read more

A perfect hole in the wall burger joint. The food was amazing and staff was super friendly. We will definitely be back.

Get the fried chicken it was really good. Onion rings were good too! I liked the black-eyed peas. Yum! Yep. I would tell someone to stop. On a weekday from 11 to 1 they are busy! Still, the food was good. read more

Awesome restaurant that is kid friendly with great food and great service (thanks Ms Kimberly for being an awesome hostess). The sauce is also fantastic. One of my kids said they want to come back and get the BLT again. Definitely recommend! read more

Nice people who allowed me to order really close to closing time. Burger's were really good and I think I got the last batch of fries they made. Enough for three or four people. I couldn't let them go to waste so I had to eat all of them. read more

This little cafe recently had a facelift. It is a charming and friendly place. All of the locals around Magee eat at Zips. The owners are very kind and the staff are friendly and helpful. The burgers are the greatest. If you want a satisfying meal a Zip burger and fries is the answer. They have onion rings and pork chops etc.. Great down home food. This is a reliable meal. Trust the locals you can always count on Zips. read more

O! M! G! I mean really!!! This food was sooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooooooooo good!!! Wow! Passing thru on the way to Jackson and was starving so did a quick yelp search and came Across zips- it was only 0.5 mile of where was at at that very moment so we chose to give this lil "hole in the wall" a shot and woooow I was so glad we did! All four of us in our party was very pleased! The sides was even delicious! The service was good also. The inside seemed clean. The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Drove from Dallas to seaside FL and tried it based on reviews. Made it a point to go there again on the way back. That says it all. Everything is 100% on point. Zips burger, zips sauce, onion rings, fried pickles. Do it. read more

I am not sure what they put in their secret sauce, but it is unbelievably good. That sauce is what puts this place way above other burger joints I have been to in the area! Also the burgers come with a large side of fries which is welcomed. Also finally the patty's are HUGE!!! read more

We stopped at Zip's on our way through Mississippi. We wanted to try some local dishes that you can get anywhere else. My husband ordered the fried chicken lunch, special #3. It came with rice and gravy and a roll. The fried chicken was very crispy and juicy and he could have drank a bowl of the gravy. I ordered the Zip's burger that was supposed to be the best in MS. It's the only burger I've ever had in the state and it was flavorful and everything they advertised. I had home style fries and my son had crinkle fries with his grilled cheese. The fries could have been cooked to be more crunchy. It appeared other diners were having the crispy batter fries. Overall a very good place to stop for lunch and be one with the locals. Reminded me of being back home in Missouri. read more

Made a stop here on the way to Dauphin Island from Dallas. Our visit was on Monday afternoon at 1:00. Our waitress, Baritt was very friendly and accommodating to my unfortunate dietary requests. My husband and daughter both ate burgers and their claim as the best burger in Mississippi measures up! My picky teenager loved the fried chicken tenders and most especially their homemade ranch dressing. I am currently in the middle of my Whole 30 diet and their grilled pork chop salad and baked potato hit the spot and kept me in compliance! The pork chop was tender and tasty! All of that being said the portions were generous and the price was more than reasonable! All four of us ate and spent only $36. A final note, they served fresh brewed iced tea- not the instant kind! Wonderful staff and great little stop! One note- Yelp list shows is as Wyndam family restaurant but the actual name is Zips cafe. Providing a picture to help future travelers locate it! read more

Great home cooking excellent deep fried chop steak with a gravy. So good. Great vegetables. We had the Mac and cheese. Lima beans. Rice and gravy and peas. Sweet cornbread. Sooo tasty. Wow what a plate. The brown gravy with onions. Was so good. Service by summer was perfect. Almost forgot. The chef salad was great. The cumback dressing perfect. Enough of an appetizer for 2. A little bit out of Jackson but so worth it. We are coming back. read more
