When I booked my move on the phone, I explained that we were moving from a two bedroom condo in Brooklyn to a house upstate and that I had a small child and only two days to pack up our 2bd/2bath 950 sq foot apartment to prepare for the next tenants, so I would need full service move, including packing. While on the phone we went through every item in my home: furniture, closets, books, etc. On the day of the move, a crew of 3 young men arrived, including Andrew, the driver and head mover. After going through the house and explaining what needed to be done, I signed the paperwork, and he said he and his crew would grab the materials and be right back. After 45 minutes when they had still not returned, I got worried and called. He explained that the two young men did not want to do the packing and didn't realize it would be an all day job. The company asked if we could reschedule the move for the following day. I agreed and was very understanding, in spite of the inconvenience this caused my family. When I spoke to Jennifer on the phone she said that they would not charge me for the day and would try to add an additional mover to the team for the next day's move at no charge to make up for the inconvenience. Andrew had been on the phone with Kate and told me that since he had already driven all the way down they agreed that he should pack for a few hours while he was here to make the next day's move run smoothly and the company would pay his hourly fee, but I would not be charged to make up for the inconvenience of what had happened. He worked very hard for 4 hours and then left. There was some miscommunication on the administrative end and I was initially charged for Andrew's services on Sunday which was very upsetting. However, the owner Jake reached out to me and refunded me for that first day. I really appreciate his working to make things right.

    We used this company as they advertised that they move out of state. It was a total disaster and I…read moreblame the owner 100 percent as the staff was very kind. They took our entire contents of our house and said they would have it to us in about a week out of state. Well, turns out they emptied all of our stuff into their warehouse (I have photos from someone who sent them to me) and then used the truck for other moves...keeping our entire lives for a MONTH before we begged them to please bring it. Trucks broke down, can't find help...one line after another. Then, when it arrived they upped the price, asked for a cashier check or cash or wouldn't release..we were desperate and heart broken. Finally, we got our lives back and a broken large screen Mac Computer. It was one of the most disrespectful, unprofessional, lying business I have ever experienced. STAY AWAY! I was also harassed with emails when I posted this on Yelp to take down my honesty. Not okay. Never called to apologize help...nothing. A CON GAME FOR SURE. I stand by my words here. I am also noticing a bogus response from the owner that we can contact their "claims" department for refunds. Lies. Not true. Doesn't happen. Saving face on poor reviews. TERRIBLE. Share

    This was my first time moving and using a moving company, and overall I had a very good experience…read more From the operator I spoke with on day one, to the origin service center in New York, to the customer service center in California, everyone I dealt with was professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. The truck drivers who loaded and unloaded my container were excellent--they answered all of my questions, provided clear timelines, and kept me updated with calls when they left the unit and when they arrived at my home. Their communication was always on point. The only downside was that my container was extremely dirty, almost as if it had been used to transport charcoal. Because of this, I strongly recommend wrapping items in blankets and stretch wrap to prevent them from getting stained. Unfortunately, my mattress cover was ripped during the move and ended up with black marks. Overall, the professionalism and communication stood out, but I do wish the container had been in better condition.

This company is much less expensive and better rated than PODS for long distance, non-storage moves. Apparently for good reason! The drivers, both in NY snd FL, were friendly and efficient, protecting our driveway in placing and pickup. Flawless!

    BEWARE pick-ups aren't guaranteed, even if you pay extra for a certain date…read more We booked and pre-paid for McCollisters to transport our classic car. No one lived at the house where the pickup would be happening so we had to arrange for people to fly in to meet at the pick-up location. I called McCollisters to ask how the process worked, they told me I could pay extra to have it picked up on a specific day vs a window time. I booked the 1-day pickup about 2 weeks out on a date they said was available in the calendar. 2 days before pick-up we hadn't heard anything from them so I reached out and asked if we will receive an approximate time for pick-up. They told me that I would get a time range once a driver was booked. The day before the pick-up they informed me that they were still looking for a driver and would be unlikely able to find one for the next day. We were left scrambling to try to find a way to get our car transported by someone else because they couldn't tell us when they would find a driver. The customer service rep was hard to get a hold of since her voicemail was full and was not responsive to email, including trying to get our money back when they didn't transport our car. After waiting for more than 10 days I had to finally call to get someone in Billing to issue a refund. I wanted to trust a big national brand to be more on top of it than a local with a trailer but in the end we found someone who was able to help us the next day and so communicative.

    Last June we had McCollister's come move my daughter's boxes and refrigerator out of her dorm room…read moreto storage then back again in the Fall. Now just last month, since my daughter chose to stay home for her final semester I hired Joe Ianucci again to go pack her dorm room up at her direction via facetime and ship it to us. This process was very efficient and time saving. Also the quote given was very accurate and less than traditional move vendors. I highly recommend working with Joe and the McCollister's team.
