JUST A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO " ZIPP E BIKES" 2311 MECHANIC AVE. Took my E Bike for service, no appointment...Needed a new crank arm and pedal Figured id have to leave the bike for a couple days which is tough because it's my only mode of transportation. Phillip came outside, took a look, grabbed some tools , a set of pedals and a luckily had a used Crank Arm and went to work immediately. He took extra care to lock down everything and I mentioned I had Brake issues, wondering how much a Brake change would cost, he again grabbed his tools and quicklt tightened my Brakes. He only charged me for the pedals and $ 10.00 for labor, clearly well below what was due, No Complaints....Was expecting $50-70 because of what other EBike shops on island quoted. ZIPP E BIKES HAS EARNED A LOYAL CUSTOMER. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL YOUR BIKE NEEDS, Electric or Not. read more

My bike went for service there with an obvious wobbly flat tire and brake issues. Picked it up 2 days later and paid the bill of $58 plus something . I asked what all was done to it and was told it's on the receipt. Receipt said quick tune. I asked what that consisted of and she didn't know but the young kid hesitated and told me gear adjustment and oil the chain, as he's putting air in my tires. I didn't ask for that I can do that myself , but when I asked about the leak in front tire he didn't know anything. I rolled my eyes and left. I still had no breaks, tire still wobbles and it went flat half way home. Not to mention I couldn't shift the gears . After looking at the chain it was not oiled . So I basically paid for a kid to put air in my tires and put on a plastic brake pad $58 dollar RIP OFF!!! Don't go there, they suck . I won't be back and will never recommend that anyone I know ever go there. read more

Took my 5 year old riding around the island and it was an amazing experience. The customer service was great and I was made to feel secure before heading off to our adventure. My son and I had a lot of fun on the two eBikes we rented. The guy who helped us (I can't remember his name) was very friendly and set us up with bike locks so we could lock up the bikes while visiting shops. The bikes were very fast and very nimble. We had a blast! I wouldn't select the same model of eBike next time since I prefer the more upright riding position and seat of a mountain bike style eBike. But, we will definitely rent from them again when we're in town. read more

Visited the Houston area for a triathlon. My road bike was first assembled and later disassembled and packaged by Zipp E Bikes. (1) - assembling I was in no hurry so I dropped the bike off one day and picked it up next morning. The guys were quick and did a great job - bolts/screws/nuts tightened, chain lubed, tires pumped, etc. I didn't even have to adjust the seat. One minor item that I had to adjust was the position of the handlebar. Needless to say, there was no way for the mechanics to know how high I needed it so that's expected. The same applies to the seat post if there are no markings. I did notice that the front rim brake had its quick release lever opened. When I closed it, the brakes touched the rim so I just kept it in the open position. Obviously no effect on the actual braking. To be fair, I came like 30 mins earlier to pick up the bike so the guys probably didn't get a chance to adjust it. (2) - disassembling and packaging The guys held my box for a couple of weeks, that was nice. Disassembled and packaged the bike in a few hours - got it back the same day. Attached is the pic, you can see for yourself that it's packaged well - lose parts are taped, the frame is protected by the foam, the crank arms are covered, the pedals are wrapped and taped separately. Overall, good experience, and on top of that I got a discount read more

Rented 5 ebiikes for Thanksgiving 4 broke down. Pedal came off one two batteries die and two chains came off Called for help "Sorry we can't come help you right now. We're too busy." " if you come back, will give you a refund." we limped back got there . They said "You rode in the sand we cant give you a refund." No one said anything about riding in the sand. " Oh I forgot to tell you." Immature kids poor social skills poorly maintain bicycles Really a disaster of a business stay away. All these good reviews have to be fake. read more

Zipp E Bikes continues to provide awesome customer service and a great ebike experience to the tourism sector in Galveston, while also providing quick professional service on bicycles and e-bikes for the citizens of the island. I have done business with Zipp E Bikes for several years now and have always been satisfied with all the work done on my bikes and the value of the service. Zipp E Bikes built my 2 favorite bicycles of all time. My custom ebike, and my custom oldschool ATB. I have built hundreds of bicycles and once upon a time had my own shop. I am very slow to trust anyone to build for me. The custom ebike Zipp E built is especially great. Custom work on motor mount and cable terminations made a huge difference in the quality of the build. Great shop. Great people. Competent technical skills. I see many 5 star reviews here for Zipp E, and a couple of complaints. Take the complaints with a grain of salt. Small shop with very limited personnel on maximum tourism days is a tough day for all of our small businesses in Galveston. Perfection of service and perfect communication, or time for either is not the same on max tourism days as the every day. Also, another comment about being told that some of the bikes folks are looking at are "pieces of sh*t". Hey! Be glad they told you the truth!! Ebikes are all over the map quality and durability and rideability wise. Truthfulness isn't a bad thing. I mean, language could be better, but it is a pirate island you know..... Cheers folks!! Ride On!!!! read more

OMG!!! Soooooo much fun. I rode a Rad Power Mini Step through for 2 hours and it seemed like 30 minutes. It's VERY zippy and brakes work very well. I even charged my phone on it too. I rode on the sea wall and all the way down the sand from east beach to past Pleasure Pier. If you want to be exhilarated, get a tan, feel free as can be, RENT ONE!! You wo t regret it. Seth, the owner dude, is pretty cool too. He is super helpful teaching how the bike works beforehand and the rental includes a mandatory helmet but the helmets are cool too. I'm new to cycling, and hubs and I are fairly new to the island. After reading reviews about other shops on the island, I had my doubts about timely local service for our less-than-high-end bikes (good solid bike & trike, but not high-end racers). We happened to spot this shop during our meander down to the Strand - and I am so glad we did! The tech on hand adjusted my husband's derailleur, making the rest of our ride much smoother for him, and did a quick replacement job on my brakes, completely eliminating the screech I'd been dealing with for several weeks. The tech was friendly, polite, and told us about various great biking routes through the island. Since we're recent transplants, hearing from someone more familiar was very much appreciated. We were never made to feel like anything other than honored customers; the work done was swift and helpful, and we will definitely be returning for more upgrades that we have planned over time. read more

I bought a new brand of electric bike and it came in with some damage to the gears. No problem for Zipp E! They took care of me in one day and could not have been nicer. This is a "go-to" shop for electric bike service. And what a great location!! read more

Thoughtful efficient staff, pretty old school besides e-bikes but does the trick and the prices seem fair

Here in Galveston we are fortunate to have 3 bicycle shops. All three are good, and are specialized to their niche. Zipp E-bikes is where the best bike I have ever owned will go for service now. My trophy bike. Seth did very good work, very quickly, and was extremely respectful of the bike I waited my lifetime to own. I have let Island Bicycle and Zipp E-bikes work on it now. Both did good work. Island Bicycle is so busy these days that I decided to try Zipp E. Seth turned it around in 24hrs and was super cool and careful. I really appreciate it. I recommend Seth and Zipp E-bikes for service for sure, and they have some particularly rad  SE bikes in the shop right now for new bikes. I always recommend Island Bicycle for Beach Cruisers. Best cruiser shop anywhere. Some neat city bikes too. And for just plain good cheap service on simple or low value bikes, West End Schwinn is good too. My special bike will go to Seth at Zipp E. --JB read more

We called to rent a couple ebikes during spring break. I expected the service to not be as good during this busier time. Our reservation, the bikes, and customer service was awesome. Phillip was extremely helpful with problems we were having with our e bikes, he was honest and very knowledgeable about the repairs we needed. Although he wasn't able to make the repairs since were from out of town and won't be here long enough to get the work done, he gave us a thorough diagnosis, and was even able to do a quick fix that will work until we get home. Very professional! I highly recommend. read more

Waited a bit to write this review because it took me awhile to get over my shock at how the man running this shop spoke to me. My husband told him that we were interested in buying an electric bike and which model this one was. He told us that these were all "Pieces of s***" and walked back into the store. We continued to look at the bike and we're trying to take measurements to see how different models would fit us. He came out of the store and yelled at us to quit touching the bikes. Just quit. He never offered to help us at all. I don't know how any store can expect to sell an item that costs thousands of dollars if they treat potential customers like this! read more

So much fun'! The bikes were awesome, such a great way to "zipp" around the island. We did the 24 hour rental and was able to keep them in our hotel room after a late dinner at The Tremont Hotel Rooftop Bar. Had a great tour with Aaron! He was super knowledgeable and accommodating. The bikes were great and a good price.

I stopped in to test drive a bike. I have been shopping fo an E Bike for some time. I got lucky. One of the brands in my favorites is Rad Power Bikes. They're is a place In Galveston that rents them. My daughter needed some "cockpit" time on the freeway so it was a "no brainer" to go early Sunday morning to Galveston to "kill 2 birds with one stone". Get in some needed miles and a test drive. We found Zipp E Bikes and met Seth. He was very nice and informative. A smooth talker. We ended up renting 2 bike for 1 hour. To make it short, it is easier than you would think, and it is " the most fun you can have with your clothes on" at a beach. A wonderful time with my teenage daughter. Cruises for about 10 miles. Had a blast. This fun is for everyone. Effortless entertainment. Thank you Seth. read more

Zipp E Bikes was amazing! I came here while in town for the Galveston 70.3 Ironman. This is a few weeks late, but...#momlife. My son and I brought our bikes to Galveston while we were there for spring break. We stopped by Zipp E-bikes to pick up some locks to use while we were riding around. Seth AND his daughter delivered the BEST customer service. I was having some trouble with one of the locks, so aforementioned daughter went out riding with my son and Seth let him borrow a bike (we had driven there as it was raining). They took care of us and got us hooked up with some new locks. My only complaint is about the dirt bike in the store my kid was eyeballing. Yeah...now he wants one. ;) read more

Over priced repairs. Seek other quotes before going to this place. Rude staff in the am.

Seth was so patient with us as we were trying out the E bikes for the first time for our whole family. He patiently helped us and our children with a matching helmets that fit. Showed us how the bikes work and how to lock our bike up when we're not using. This place has ethic and integrity. Seth is so kind and we will definitely come back to ride the ebikes again.
