horrible! Dr. zinnanti's wife is a miserable person. Today I called to make an app for my cat. Dr. Zinnanti's wife asked for my cat's last name, and I gave both my married and maiden last names because I wasn't sure which one was on file. While she stepped away to look up the account, I overheard her making comments to the other receptionists such as "this woman doesn't know her last name" "how does she not know her last name" "I don't even know what this woman said." Afew other comments were made about how she couldn't find my cat in the system. Not sure if she meant to put me on hold because I don't know why else she would make fun of me like that. She was acting as if I was an idiot for not knowing my cat's last name when in reality, I didn't know which last name it was under. The wife then told another receptionist to ask what my address was so another receptionist came on the phone and asked me for my address. I told her that I heard the woman's conversation and how she was rude and then I will not be returning. I've always dealt with her rudeness, but this was the final straw. My fiancé took our dog here three days ago because he was having a terrible allergic reaction and biting at his paws. Per my fiancé: "I have been taking my dog to Dr. Zinnanti since I first got him as a puppy- almost 10 years ago this May. My dog has always been in great health until this recent allergy scare and Dr. Zinnanti knew right away what the problem was and what to do. They are the most down to earth people and make you feel right at home and put your worries to rest. Three days later my dog is doing fantastic. He has no more signs of allergies. I have since moved away from Bethpage so the office is now a half hour drive from us, but I would never trust my pets to anyone else!" My dog ended up needing a shot and two different medications. The price for all of this was so reasonable, which is amazing to find because some places will take advantage and charge a crazy amount- when it comes to a pets health I'm sure most people would pay whatever it takes. I called and the girl asked me for the breed of my dog. I wasn't even done saying the word pitbull when she rudely cut me off and, "Oh, we don't accept that breed here." Very insensitive about it too. Said it as if almost proud they don't accept pits. No apology, nothing. This doctor should not be in the business of caring for dogs when he discriminated against the breed. Really a sad reality to know still exist. I've been Happily taking my two cats here for 14 years. I lost one 2 years ago & Dr Zinnanti took great care making sure we were the last appointment so that when we left destraught & in tears we wold not have to see anyone. He handled the last moments of our Babygirls' life beautifully. We continue to bring "Huggybear" routinely for his routine shots & lung disease / allergy meds . Huggy was also Neutered at Page Community. To keep things in perspective and honest I will say that this is a vet people. Again I will say a "VET"... Vets are not Animal hospitals. Vets are great for many things. Vaccines, spay/neuter, testing etc medication refills. If you think they are prepared for emergency medicine, MRI's , EKGS etc...don't go to a Vet. To complain on yelp about such things are outlandish. Veterinarians are quite different than Animal Hospitals. Another thing I'd like to mention is Dr Zinnanti spends time with each of my cats and is extremely involved with their routine care as well as health issues. I've been to Animal hospitals that cover more things for your pet but just don't spend the time. You will feel rushed like they're not even listening. In & out like a number That being said, I'm not blind to the fact that a Vet can only do so many things & I've have been referred to other places for more involved testing which Is totally ok with me, so that I can still get the family doctor feel of this Vet for routine matters. Worst vet ever. He never once used his stethoscope to listen to my dog's heart or breath sounds. I am an EMT and told him my dog's respiration rate was fast and much faster than normal and he completely blew me off. Never listened to his lungs. My dog ended up needing to be put down a month and a half later with his ability to breath worsening from our initial visit, meaning my concerns were correct yet ignored. He is extremely misogynistic, so if you have no other option and must use this vet, make sure a man is with you or he will ignore what you are saying. He needs to go out of business immediately! He will more than likey tranquilize your pet because he cannot handle anything. My mother and I went to his office to bring my dog in and he could not get the muzzle on him. I wonder why when he doesn't have any way to put the muzzle on the dog besides backing the dog into the corner and shoving it in his face (which obviously scared our dog). Even my groomer has a table equipped with a strap that latches onto the dog's collar so they are more immobilized to put the muzzle on. Instead, this outdated vet just hopes every dog who walk through his door is okay with a muzzle being shoved in it's face when their owners are not allowed in. Yes, the owners are not allowed into the same room with their pet to help comfort them! He then proceeded to tell me to put the muzzle on our dog as if I know how to do so, and then proceeded to rudely tell me I was doing it wrong (I wonder why). He then forced us to tranquilize our already sick dog or he would not see him. When my father came to bring back our tranquillized dog, they allowed him in the room and only listened to what my father would say, yet he undermined and ignored my mother and I. He also will not take certain breeds, like pitbulls, and other big dogs. Why become a vet if you are scared and cannot even handle my 25 pound dog when he is sick! Avoid him at all costs if you want the best care for your pet because he will certainly not provide that (if your dog isn't 'too scary' for him to take as a patient in the first place). read more

I have been coming here for awhile now, since recommended by a neighbor. The first vet we went to was the Bethpage Animal Hospital on Hempstead Tpke. We only went to the one on Hempstead Tpke a few times, since they made a HUGE mistake, and made my yellow lab April blew up in bumps! April I believe, like most dogs did not like going to the vet. She was always shaking, crying, and pulling not to go in to the room with the vets @ the Bethpage Animal Hospital on Hempstead Tpke. Since taking her to Dr Zinnanti @ Page Community, April actually looks forward to going to the vet!!!! As soon as we walk in she looks to get in to the exam room! Dr Zinnanti has been nothing but nice, and caring to my April. The staff there is nice, and cares as well! As soon as the exam room door opens up, and they call April, she takes off in to the exam room!!! She greets the assistant, and Dr. Zinnanti , and hops on to the scale! Dr. Zinnanti always takes the time to listen to our concerns, and worries. Which leads me to the bad news for April. Because of his concern, and listening to our worries, April was found to have a tumor the size of a softball in her lungs. Believe it or not April is still playing, eating, and acting like a nutty dog considering the condition, and she is going to be 12 years old in a few weeks, which we, and Dr. Zinnanti are happy about. Dr. Zinnanti is helping us to make sure April stays happy and content as long as we have her. I know April is just a dog but she is more to us than that as most pet owners know. The most touching thing happened yesterday with Dr. Zinnanti, and April. We were walking out of the exam room, and April turned back around and went over to Dr. Zinnanti and stared at him longingly with not only her tail, but her whole bottom wagging. He then got on his knees, pet her, kissed her, and told her to keep fighting. However difficult it is to type this with out crying, I needed this to be heard. I called this morning because my parents use this vet for our dog who is a chocolate lab but i just got a new puppy who is a lab,retriever, terrier, pitbull mix. The receptionist asked me what kind of dog i had, i said a pitbull mix ( when i adopted her from town of hempstead thats what was on her cage ) the receptionist then told me " we don't see pitbull mixes " i think that is ridiculous! Any dog can bite you / get aggressive at any given time but to discriminate against a breed is ridiculous! My pup is 4 months old and she is teething she nips but nothing serious. Either way that is crazy! And i would never recommend a place like that nor will i ever call again. Don't become a vet if your scared of a breed! Getting bit is part of your job! read more

Make sure you give your dog all it's recommended vaccinations EVEN if Dr. Zinnanti advises you not to. He advised me not to give one of my dogs the leptospirosis vaccine and in turn, my dog ended up getting the disease and dying. Very negligent on his part. As a dog owner, I did not know any better and took his poor advice to not give my dog the vaccine and will forever have guilt about it. I blame him for killing my dog. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I brought my cat in for a steroid shot he was giving her to relieve her pain. He didn't know what was wrong with her but I wanted to make her comfortable. While in the waiting room it was as if my poor cats insides just burst. She was vomiting and having bowel movements uncontrollably. It was one of the worse experiences of my life. She was a cat we had for about 14 yrs that my husband rescued in Harlem. The entire staff and Dr were totally un compassionate. As I was holding her and this was happening the receptionist was asking me to pay!!!! I had vomit all over me my cat was suffering and no one cared. I had her in my arms. My husband was rushing over, we live 5 minutes away to be there when we put her to sleep. My daughter was with me, only 10 years old. They told me to hurry up because the vet wanted to go to lunch. When he finally gave her the injection and we thought she was gone, she woke up vomiting again and he had to give her another shot. He is an incompetent uncaring Dr and I wish he would go out of business. No animal should be treated the way he treated my poor cat. He is a monster. My husband even tried to talk with him about how he treated us afterward and he said he closes for lunch at that time every day. If I could use foul Language on here to describe him, I would use every derogatory word to describe him. He should not be in the business of animal care. He is a monster. read more

He has cared for three of our dogs, one who has reached the ripe old age of 15. He is compassionate and gentle and treats each dog and their owners with respect.
