Horrible management, and the vet Dr Barlowe canceled my dog's prescription after telling me on the phone that they would get it done and it is not a problem, then I call back again to clarify what the problem was and the MANAGER HUNG UP ON ME! My Pets Vet in Huntington has a doctor there. Her name is Dr. Brooke. She was caring, incisive and through. With a special needs pet that few know how to treat, she reviewed everything, checked the animal from head to tail and gave a few thoughtful suggestions. The place is on Jericho Turnpike just into the Huntington area. The sign is a bit to the side and surrounded with trees and flowers. (see pix) It has a woods cabin feeling, is clean and colorful. There is a cat cage in the office for when cats are to be adopted (none in there at this visit) Many small rooms around from the counter and interesting pictures and accessories. The scale to weigh the animals is down one small hall way. This day brought a hand full of puppies. The associate lady there who has been there since February, was very good with the dogs. She did seem to have that knack and be at the right place to work. Upon reading other reviews, I am sorry others had poor experiences especially when animals are in need. As for my experience I am glad to say that it was a good for my pet and self. read more

Just wanted to leave a review for the greatest veterinary practice My Pets Vet. Dr Barlowe you are a shining example of supreme judgement, exptertise, experience and compassion. It just doesnt get any better. Our precious beagle Rosie was a patient here for her 12 year life. Rosie had very complex health issues for the majority of her life and Dr. Barlowe navigated them with precision. Thank you to the staff here who put up with me and my anxiety on the regular- a little shout out to Jill, Mary, Rita, Debbie, Melissa, Lulu, Sam and so many others. Sadly this week we had to say goodbye to our beloved Rosie. I do not think another pet is on the horizon for us but we cannot recommend this practice enough. It is the only one for us. read more

Truly sad to say the quality of care at My Pets Vet has really declined. Dr. Brooke was always my go to vet but when you stop having faith and trust in one. ..... She seems totally disinterested. My young dog ended up with a chronic lung condition because his pneumonia was not treated properly. In fact, instead of hospitalizing him, she sent him home when he could hardly breathe as she seemed afraid he had something contagious like influenza (which he was vaccinated for) and she didn't want it in her hospital. It was lucky he didn't die without oxygen. She didn't even do a simple trachea wash to determine what antibiotic was best. My complete stupidity for trusting her. My poor dog now has to live with this condition and be on medication for the rest of his life, which could very well be a lot shorter. I've only been using her for routine stuff like shots after that. He was there for something simple today and at first she didn't even bother to listen to his lungs until I asked, despite knowing he had a condition. After she listened to them, I was told his breathing was uneven but had no crackling and she sent him home. I called back to ask after thinking about it more and a receptionist called me back with a message saying it was normal. Hopefully it really is nothing, but I will get it checked. Awhile back, my dogs ear flap was bleeding and it was suggested by another vet in the practice after speaking with Dr. Brooke, that Dr. Brooke should cut off part of his ear. By keeping it contained so he couldn't flap it (nothing they suggested), I got it to heal just fine. While most of the support staff and receptionists are nice - some, such as Lauren, are beyond snotty and obnoxious. Really sad about this as I used Dr. Brooke even before she had her own practice. read more

There's so much I can say about this place who have taken care of my fur babies for 10+ years which my fur family have grew from two furkids to five today! (4 cats and a dog) All of the cats that I have came from My Pets Vet through their involvements with animal rescue group where I got my my kitties from over the years. They do more for animals other than than taking care of animals that goes in. They are involved with rescue groups and would take care of some animals that aren't adopted yet or will never be adopted. What I saw was their passion, love, and very caring of my fur kids. The vet is not like a factory/business trying to maximize profits and squeeze in as many appointments they could in one day. They would make an appointment for me that works for me and Dr. Barlowe often would bend backwards to make it possible for me to bring in my pet right away when needed. She won't be able to do this if not for all of support and caring by My Pet Vet. Not only that, I am Deaf so my communication needs are different than those who can hear. I never felt different and was treated the same way as other clients. The front office and Dr. Barlowe communicates with me through texting and note writing to make appointment or during the exam while I am there. Two of my cats are Deaf that I adopted through My Pet Vet that took care of them before I adopted them. The cats originally came from rescue group who saved them from some unfortunate situation. I will always recommend and proud to be associated with My Pet Vet to everyone I know. I will NEVER my furkids anywhere else but My Pet Vet!!!! This place is cozy and felt like 2nd home when I bring my pets there for their appointments. Once again, Dr. Barlowe knew exactly what to do for our kitty. She has been managing an ongoing health issue in our beloved 14-year-old kitty so expertly. Once in a while he has a flare-up, and because of Dr. Barlowe, gone are the days of 3 day hospitalizations that he experienced under other vets' care. She also diagnosed a heart condition and high bp in our other kitty, being very conservative with testing and procedures. We respect and appreciate that she treats very incrementally, and is also open to alternative and homeopathic therapies when appropriate. I'm Beamer a 16 year old Shih Tzu. I haven't been feeling well since 9/18/2020, today is 9/30/2020, I thought My Pets Vet cared about me. I went to My Pets Vet in Huntington regularly my entire life. My Dr. was Dr. Barlow she did all kinds of things for me. I think she works there and doesn't own the place? I have bad habits to act like a tough guy, I growl, I nip sometimes but I don't mean it I only do it because Im small and like to act like a big shot, LOL. My Dad says I will be around till I'm 25 years old despite all that nonsense talk of a Shih Tzu life span till 16 yrs old. Dr Barlow says I'm in great shape for my age too. I'm gonna let my Dad continue typing my thoughts from here since Im not feeling myself, Im not sure why I haven't seen Dr Barlow yet? Its been 12 days so far? I noticed Beamer not acting himself he never had tremors. Beamer is a feisty little guy so anyone can see if something isn't right. I called My Pets Vet to move Beamers regular checkup appointment up to hopefully to see him that day. The person answering the phone didn't seem to understand to accommodate a customer or patients needs. Having a long history at a Vet they should be accommodating and concerned to see Beamer the soonest possible. Even if no appointment was available that day I figured the next day or so. The tremors are only sometimes and if it was an Emergancy I would go to an ER Vet immediately but I felt it was important to rush an appointment with my regular Vet and expressed these concerns to them. The attendant speaking handled this issue in an INCOMPETENT manor and I told her she was INCOMPETENT because she was. She said she will check when my existing appointment can be moved up to see Dr Barlow and would call me back. She did call me back and gave Beamer an appointment for 9/28/20 @ 9AM earlier than the previously existing visit. 10 days was along time to accommodate Beamer while the girl was told he's having tremors. Being this didn't seem to be an immediate emergency but still uncomfortable to Beamer, I preferred Dr Barlow see Beamer so I chose to wait and not have a stranger Vet see him, the tremors aren't all the time. So I impatiently wait for the appointment. 10 days pass. They were called INCOMPETENT by me because it was justified and you should express your concerns when you are a customer/ patient and should be attended to when you have paid this vet for 2 dogs about $20,000 for services over the past 16 years. I have 2 SHIH TZU's one named Lucky too. I had a regular well visit appointments set up for both dogs previously but only pushed up Beamers appointment due to this issue. They called me back on 9/18 and gave me an appointment for 9/28. I had no further communications with my Pets Vet from the time they called me to provide Beamers new appointment date. Proof of INCOMPETENT and UNPROFESSIONALISM: Upon calling them from outside giving my parking spot # (Due to Covid) more INCOMPETENCE and UNPROFESSIONALISM occurred. I was asked repeatedly my name, last name, dogs name? I was Told she can't find my appointment or my name. Then told someone will be out to see me. The office manager Donna (INCOMPETENT and UNPROFESSIONAL) says multiple things; I thought you went to another Vet? Since they are too small to do any specialist service and previously recommended Beamer to an eye specialist and I took their advise at that time. Donna told me our dogs records were mailed back to me on 9/26, I had no appointment and Im not suppose to call them incompetent. Apparently at MY PETS VET customers aren't suppose to complain about anything when it's justified? The provider should be professional. Why did they give the appointment and make me wait 10 days? Treat customers like this?? I'm now waiting till 10/04 for the new Vets appointment. My Pets Vet is causing Beamer to be uncomfortable and wait 16 days for attention. Why? Wow...my last review for MPV was almost 5 years ago. Luckily, we don't visit too often. Partly because of the good care that we receive here and tips to keep our Chloe healthy. For instance, after a bout with frequent and costly ear infections, they recommended that we switch our ear cleaner to a different one. Since then, not a single problem !! This summer she had a little trouble with her hmmmmm....derrière and they were efficient , kind and the bill was extremely fair. When we visited this week to see the Vet Tech, I felt comfortable and Chloe was returned to me unscathed and was give a spritz of sweet pea cologne. The office itself remains darling. You would almost think that you were stepping into a Bed and Breakfast with the country decorations and manicured gardens. Located right on Jericho Turnpike as a free standing house, the office is comfortable and inviting. While the owner is still there, the other Vets are newer. Not sure if this is good or not, but we remain pleased with our care and don't mind the 20 minute drive from our home in Westbury. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a new Vet. read more

She wanted to have the full vinyard experience and in her forrest frolicking she picked up her first tick bite. She quickly became lethargic and running a very high fever. The woman at the front desk said an appointment wasn't available for a couple of hours but Robin overheard the conversation and leapt into action! She spoke with Dr Harris and was able to get me seen within 20 mins (thanks so much Robin, you are a great example of why we have always turned to MyPetsVet in emergency situations). My wife and two young daughters were besides themselves with concern. After a couple of weeks of kidney flushing, TLC from the staff, Pepper came home. I have been going there for the last 18 months or so for routine care. They pretty much run on time, the vet techs are very nice, and when I call to schedule an appointment, there's never a problem as their schedule is quite flexible. While I didn't love the veterinarian I'd been assigned, I called one day worried that my dog was sick and the front desk squeezed him in at the end of the day. Here I met Dr. Barlowe for the first time. She ran some tests, and ultimately she didn't think it was anything serious, but she called a day or two later to let me know that the blood tests were fine, and a few days after that she asked one of the vet techs to follow up and see how he was doing. I found Dr. Barlow to be a kind and caring vet. I give her 5 stars for her compassion and caring demeanor, as well as her people AND pet skills! She'll be our vet moving forward. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I have been using My Pets Ver for over 22 years. Not only does the entire staff at MPV care for my animals, they make sure to treat me well. We have 5 dogs, and we just lost our Yogi Bear, he was just shy of 15 . We never would have had that last 18 months with him, if it was not for the compassionate care he received. Dr. Gagliano, and the vet techs knew everything about him, even his funny walk. So did the receptionist, when we would call about Yogi, she knew who we meant. MPV is not the closest vet to us, but that is where we go. We don't go there because they are the most reasonably priced vet by far, although they are, we come back because they care, every person we have met, and I think we know everyone, with all our dogs. It seemed that every time I did an animal charity walk..there was Dr. Bridgette Brooke handing out info and donating her time & expertise. It was because of her that I switched from a more local but really incompetent vet to My Pet's Vet. I am so happy that I did. The very first thing I noticed & was impressed with was how Dr. Brooke spent the beginning of our appointment by ignoring me and completely winning over my dog. That was it! I was in love. I was also impressed with how Dr. Brooke would talk through her exam as if recording what she was doing & finding as she examined my dog. It really made me feel as if i was a part of the process. The practice is wonderfully state of the art and the hospital area is spotless. There is, I'm told, always someone there with the animals that are overnighters so that's one less thing to worry about. When Dr. Brooke became overly popular & really difficult to see I reluctantly switched to another vet. My reticence was quickly proven unfounded as I found Dr. Wulforst to be as dedicated and inclusive & caring as was Dr. Brooke. When one of my furkids became more & more ill, Dr. Wulforst made herself available almost 24/7. She would call almost daily just to see how my girl was doing. I cannot even count how many times I had to rush my dog to My Pet's Vet and Dr. Wolfurst always gave as much time to my girl as was necessary. When the worst day came and I had to say good-bye to my baby..Dr. Wulforst and the entire staff could not have been more sensitive and understanding. As long as I live on Long Island I will always use My Pet's Vet and will unconditionally recommend them to others. read more

When we moved to Huntington, we took our two Corgis to this vet center. Although I found the vets to be friendly and knowledgeable, and the front desk staff helpful, we stopped coming here. Why? The place has an... odor... All vets have a "pet smell" that's just always there, but My Pet's Vet suffers from a lack of cleanliness that made us uncomfortable. Although the outside areas and waiting room seem pleasant, the exam rooms suffer from a lack of attention to facilities... they are old, poorly maintained, and they just... have a stench about them. read more

The worst! I made an appt for my dog because she wasn't acting right. They almost killed her because they gave a wrong diagnosis. They put her on medication for the original diagnosis and 2 weeks later when there was no improvement, I took her back in, saw a different vet and found out she was in heart failure and had to be put on heart medicine. I also found the receptionists to be very rude and they act like you're bothering them. I would never go there again nor would I ever recommend them. read more

My dog (a 4 year old Havanese) was diagnosed by our local vet in Queens as having a luxating patella after coming up limping randomly one day. The cost of the surgery was going to be astronomical, we weren't sure of the quality of doctor we would get and we didn't know where to turn. Dr. Brooke (from MyPetsVet) was recommended to us and it changed everything. The cost for Dr. Brooke was less than half of what we were going to pay in Queens, they kept him all weekend to ensure he would recover from surgery and he recovered well ahead of schedule. Dr. Brooke was kind, funny, and honest throughout the process. They called me at least once a day during that weekend to tell me how he was doing. 6 months later my dog is 100% recovered and I had an amazing experience, better than any other vet I've been to and I recommend them to everyone. Earlier this month I was blessed to have the care from Dr. Tripoldi and her staff with a kitty I rescued and wanted to properly care for before placing her in a new home. I wish I could give negative stars........I would never go to my pets vet again. the only reason I ever started dealing with them was because the shelter I adopted my kitten from uses them. Some of the staff at the front desk are the nastiest women I have ever encountered. The only reason I continued to use them is because I liked Dr. Brooke and she had already seen my kitten a few times so I figured I would use them for him only. however, today was the last straw! I made a wellness check appt over 1 month ago for today at 2pm. I got there at 1:50 and watched 4 other people walk in well after me and get taken before me. I complained and was told "they are seeing other vets". I saw two of them get seen by Dr. Brooke (the vet I had an appt with)--I believe the other 2 were seen by her as well but cant be sure BUT I know at least 2 of them got there after 2:20 and were seen before me. finally at 2:55 I stormed out. my poor kitten had to be locked in a crate for almost 2 hours for no reason other than a poorly run vets office. I will stick with my regular vet--Peace Love Pets because not only are the vets amazing--the front end staff is so kind and sweet AND I've never waited for more than 10-15 min. read more

Misdiagnoses and over medication from My Pet's Vet doctors almost killed my dog. When our dog injured her leg, we called My Pet's Vet first to try to get her an emergency visit with one of the vets in the office and was refused service because it was on a Saturday and "too close to closing hours " by the receptionist and she casually told us to seek emergency care elsewhere. It was determined at the emergency facility that she had no tears or breaks, thankfully. We did bring her in the following week to MPV office because the knee was not getting better and she had a high fever. They were successful treating her leg injury and her fever was treated. However, due to negligence among the doctors themselves and lack of empathy for my dog's continuing decline in a week's timespan from her initial visit, charging us thousands of dollars, they sent us on a spiraling journey of misdiagnoses and almost death of our dog from unnecessary medications that were slowly poisoning her. After testing negative to Lyme's, Lepto et al, they still insisted she stay on all medications. When she continued to decline they said she had liver disease and they added more antibiotics onto her med schedule she was at this point up to 19 pills a day!! 3 different doctors saw her and offered 3 different prognoses but none could tell us what was wrong with our dog. More testing and bloodwork yielded an upsetting phone call to us from the vets office telling us she had a life threatening autoimmune disease that would kill her if we did not seek emergency care and/ or a blood transfusion. It was only after we admitted her to the Emergency Vet hospital that we finally found an answer. After extensive bloodwork, testing and pathologists' analysis, and comparing the results to the medications she was on, they found that our dog's declining condition was due to adverse reactions to all of the medications prescribed by Dr. Gagliano, Dr. Barlowe and Dr. Tripodi separately and together. There was no autoimmune disease, there was no liver disease, there was no Lyme's disease, there was no Leptospirosis infection yet they insisted she take medications for these infections just in case. We stopped all medications immediately. What she had was severe anemia and suffered a subsequent stroke from unnecessary medications that taxed her immune system and literally almost killed her. We were devastated to realize just how negligent the staff at My Pets Vet had been. And how shameful too that they never even called us after all of this to ask about my dog's condition. Sadly that was the final straw. Not sure when My Pet's Vet stopping caring about their patients and more about money for their business. I find it pretty egregious to say the least of their lack of empathy and communication. After almost 25 years of patronage with 2 pets with My Pets Vet, I have just collected the last of my dog's records and will be looking elsewhere for more reliable and safer healthcare for my pet. read more

Any vet office that will not give a rough estimate for services over the phone is not a vet that I will be able to see. For a routine surgery where I already have a complete diagnosis from another surgeon, another office should be able to provide an estimate. There is no way I can pay for 5 specialist visits just to hear exactly what I already heard without knowing if they are even in my price range. read more

First let me state that that the 1 star is for the front desk receptionist, all of them!!! Unfortunately I have to go through them first before I can get to Dr. Barlowe or any of the the Vets. 5+++ stars for Dr. Barlowe The receptionists are nasty, rude argumentative individuals. They make me feel like a constant bother. I am trying really hard with the Help of Dr. Barlowe to take care of my 14yr. old Whippet!! He takes approx 20 pills throughout the day and tends to have some gastrointestinal problems. Tylan powder helps but needs to be put into a capsule which I get from My Pets Vet. I was told the will no longer do it there. I asked Debbie if the reason is due to the fact that it's a pain to fill the capsules and she just repeated in her stern voice that they will not fill it there anymore and will be sent out for to a compounding pharmacy. I need to know the price so I can make sure that I can afford it. I am already laying out over $200.00 a month just on his medications. Debbie is the one who called to tell me this after I called in a refill for the Tyan powder. She told me that Dr. Barlowe put a note in my dog's chart to state the above. I should have been notified immediately if there was any kind of change in his medication including how or where it would be dispensed. I requested a call from Dr. Barlow so I can go over his medication with her and maybe come up with a different game plan. Of course Debbie gave me a problem with my request, three times I had to tell her that I wanted to speak with Dr. Barlow. I love my dog and I take care of him just like I take care of my child. I do not care whose toes I step on or who I have to inconvenience to make sure that he gets the best care that I can give him. I will not let some nasty, rude people stand in my way. I only stay there because of Dr. Barlowe. I started going to Dr. Brooke 20 years ago when her practice was in a store front. I was recommended to Dr. Brooke by an equine vet that my sister in law knows well. I no longer recommend My Pets Vet and not sure I will go back there after my sweet Hershey leaves me. Those people should be ashamed of themselves. I can't understand how Dr. Brooke does nothing about this ongoing problem. I guess that's why the front desk is the way it is. People will get away with whatever they can for as long as they can!! read more

Amazing, compassionate vets. Dr. Kim Barlowe always presents all of our options and pros & cons of each. Very thorough and very kind. Doesn't overtest for the sake of driving up the bill. Very patient. This vet was recommended to me from Forgotten Friends of Long Island animal rescue, who said that this practice is amazing in quality and compassion. read more
