I loved the cartoon adaptations of comics when I was a kid (like X-Men, Spiderman, and Fantastic Four), I bought the figurines, but I never actually read the comics. It was not until later in life that I started on a few graphic novels and comics. Now I am hooked. Ace Comics and Games is the perfect spot to indulge my new found love of comics. They do tend to stock more graphic novels and don't have the biggest range in their Queen Street store but the staff are awesomely knowledgeable and friendly and if they don't have something in stock they happily source it for you. You might not even notice Ace Comics unless you were specifically observant or were looking for it on purpose. From the Queen Street Mall all you see is a sign near a doorway next to Wallace Bishop. Walk up a few steps and you make your way into the kind of old looking shop but who really is looking at the paint work when the walls are lined with comics anyway. Ace comics really is a good shop to browse, buy or just generally stand in awe of the awesomeness that surrounds you.

I'll try to side-step the geek talk, except to say that it IS possible for an Alliance and a Horde player to be friendly in real life, even if they've unknowingly caused each other to punch their monitors in the heat of battle. The staff are very friendly and the store, though not big, crams in all the games you need. It's not an easy store to miss because of all the posters and ads everywhere - inside the store and out. If you want to pre-order a game from Indooroopilly EB, I've done this before (Rise of the Lich King - Warcraft) and had no problems whatsoever. The store is usually very busy, and during holidays it's hard to move. In this case you need to use crafty, diagonal, nudging movements to get to the counter. Once you get there, though, your experience will be as you want it to be - quick if you're in a hurry, languid if you want to chat. The sales staff are very good at following the ebb-and-flow vibe of their customers. If I had to work in the retail sector (I'm no salesperson), I'd work here.

I was there hunting for the best deals on Wii consoles. This EB Games was selling Wii consoles at the lowest price I heard of $169.00! Crazy, huh? I even compared it to other EB Games at Mt Ommaney and Chermside and even against bigger stores like Kmart, Big W and JB Hi Fi. The service was really good for a hectic pre-Christmas rush. I was looked after pretty much from the moment I walked in. The staff help out as many people as possible. Even if they're with another customer, they're quick to acknowledge the others who are waiting and come back to them as soon as they're done with current customer. They sell a really good range of the 'That's Not My ... ' books (mums will know this one) and they also have the Thomas the Tank train table set with all the over 200 acessories that go with it. Another really cool area of the shop sells all things Bobble Art. I bought my son's daycare school bag there with cars all over it. Bobble Art make cute drink bottles, school bags and school accessories for the little kids and they're all pretty good and waterproof too. Love this brand. You can also buy kitchen sets, sand and water tables, hop scotch platforms that play music when you hit a point on the mat and my personal favourite, magnet boards for your kids to take in the car or on the plane to keep themselves amused! We bought one and it was a lifesaver on the airplane. Kept my son busy and keeping him busy is good enough for me. They have a whole bunch of knick knacky toys as well as dolls and little prams and whatnot so definetely check this place out if you ever see it.
