The ambience here is quite nice and there is outdoor seating for warm days. The only drawback to the outdoor seating is that it's on a noisy main road. I have walked past this place a few times and we finally decided to give it a try. For what is a somewhat cool place I was totally disappointed at the push button coffee machines. The coffee was quite ordinary and lukewarm. I must admit I did not like the coffee here at all. We are so spoiled for choice for good coffee in the area. The menu is small but enough choices for lunch and breakfast. There is a daily specials board as well. I tried the chorizo omelette and it was ok. Without the chorizo this would have been a bland omelette. I also tried the Bircher muesli and I am afraid it was the worst Bircher muesli I have had since moving to Europe. It was tasteless and had soft overripe pear which tasted pretty ordinary. To be fair i would not rate the food more then 2.5 stars. The coffee would be a 1 star for me. Overall I would not rate it more than 2.5 but would be ok with a 3. In a suburb with so many great places for coffee and breakfast, I would have to be desperate to come back here again. As I always say no matter what the ambience is like, I come here to eat ;-) if the food is average no matter what else is great, it barely makes up for it.

The first thing that catches your eye is how cute the store is. Then you begin to notice that it is meant to be photographed. The food and decor are set up perfectly for instagramming. So much so that out of the row of 5 tables we were sitting in, at least two spent most of their time taking and posting pictures. Besides being beautiful, the food was also delicious. We had the oats and the yogurt, which looked very similar but did not taste the same. Both were light and the fruit was fresh. I had a latte with almond milk, which was so good and of course had some latte art. My husband had an americano. Great place if you're in the area and want some picturesque food and coffee.

I got the avocado toast with tofu scramble, and a couple people in our group got the avocado toast without it. We all got coffee, and some of us also got orange juice. I was jealous... ...from the moment I walked in. If I had this cafe below me, I'd be a happy camper (and perhaps a little rounder). Cafe Ruffini has two parts: it's split into a "take away" portion where you can point at a window and take cafe eats with you if you're on the go. OR you can grab a seat inside. I was here midday and it was packed! We had to wait around for a little bit. There was something for everyone whether you were sitting for a cappuccino & a cake or there for a whole meal. Upon entering, you'll see an enticing case of pastries. As a non-German speaker/ tourist, I was pretty reluctant to ask, but there was charming man, that spoke enough english to help me with my curious sweet tooth. I picked the walnut cake (see pic). It seemed like the popular thing. By the last bites of it, I saw 2-3 others had ordered the same. If you want to spruce up your normal coffee routine, get the amaretto latte. It's a bit sweet, but a treat to top off a meal along with that walnut cake. Ok...I think I've just convinced myself that I need to go back soon. Walnut cake + amaretto latte. One more thing, I think they screen films there at night and/or have live music too. This might be another excuse to go back. They have an extensive wine list available online. Good wine selection and good food (organic if you care), in the summertime the rooftop terrace is usually open (self-service though, but very nice for sundowns or breakfast). Often quite full, especially on weekends - if you want to come with 4+ people better to reserve a table. Be aware though, that the many good reviews received by this place not necessarily mean that this is a perfect cafe. If you see it from the outside or take a quick first impression look inside you may wonder if this is the right place - I think the reviews just show that people like to hang out here, the atmosphere is nice despite the dated interior. :-)
