Wow!! Stopped by Zia's biryani and decided to check it out. Oh my gosh, I've been searching everywhere in Philadelphia for amazing Indian / desi food. Let's just say I know where I will be going every week! The food was cooked perfectly and everything was so delicious!! We had the buffet food today, and I'm usually not a fan of buffets, but their food was cooked way better than Indian food I've had in the area. I can't wait to order a la carte and check it out. Chicken biryani was delicious, the chicken to rice ratio was perfect, and that rice was seasoned so beautifully, that I went back for more three times. I also had their chicken tikka which was cooked in such an amazing sauce that will have you licking the plate. Kheer was so yummy, I'm not a fan of kheer, but after having it today I think I just haven't had good kheer until now. The saag paneer was incredible and it really hit the spot! The owners were incredibly kind and hospitable and made sure we were happy! They kept checking on us and really made us feel like we were eating at home. The space had an open concept, and it was very clean. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought and care into this place. My advice seriously check this place out!! It's so worth it and extremely delicious and it's the most authentic Indian spot in town. I'm honestly ready to come back tomorrow to order more Indian food!!

We will be coming back! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and everything we ate was outstanding. We got the chicken samosas (my husband hadn't had samosas before, and I'm glad these were his first -- what a fantastic first impression!), shrimp curry, garlic naan, baingan bharta, and chai. The ambience in the restaurant was cozy and comfortable. Thank you for a great dinner experience!

26 dollars for curry chicken. Curry sauce watery and no flavor. Wouldn't have mind the price if the food was good. Very disappointing

An authentic Indian/Pakistani restaurant that delivers high quality food in a casual atmosphere…read more The lunch/afternoon buffet had all the right dishes to feed my soul. From Goat curry, Keema with kebab pieces, curry chicken, saag paneer, chole and much more. This place is sure to deliver. Chicken tikka masala/Butter chicken is just right for the American palate while the other dishes taste like momma's cooking. Roti and naan were pillowy soft and came out piping hot. Can't wait to come back again. This is my 4th time here and this place has never let me down. If you're in the mood for South Asian food you've got to give this place a try. Upon entering this small restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Although the buffet was the star of the show, if you will, I'm pretty sure that you could order from a menu as well. The buffet was small but every item that we tried was absolutely delicious! Believe it, or not, we both flipped for the basmati rice that was cooked perfectly. They also had a light yellow rice (I'm not sure what type this was). Naan came with our buffet - very good and fresh! Drinks weren't included- my only single ding. Yummmm :)

Both were delicious (everything was kind of swimming in grease though, I didn't love that). We asked for recommendations, and everything the owner recommended was great (he recommended the peri peri grilled chicken, which was our favorite, and the Lahori fried fish soups). Mango lassis were also good. The rooh-afza tasted like liquefied red hots, so if you like those you'll love this! (I don't like red hots so I didn't). The falafel wasn't great, but we ordered it for my grandma so she'd get something that was completely mild (no heat to it) and that and the hummus and plain rice/naan were the only things that fit the bill for her, so it definitely did its job. We won't be coming back because it's waaaaay too expensive for what you get, but we enjoyed the experience well enough. (Edit to add after reading previous reviews: the kid who was serving us didn't know what to do when we asked for glasses of water as well, so it sounds like that's a common thing here. There really wasn't any kind of service beyond just bringing us our food when it was ready, which we didn't mind but other people might.) Edit again: I'm taking another star off because I found a hair that doesn't belong to anyone in our household in the leftovers, which is grossing me out enough to throw them away.

The aloo tiki chat is amazing, will get this every time, tangy from the tamarind, crispy, fresh, doesn't get soggy in delivery. Vegetable biryani is so good, it doesn't take like a vegetable fried rice like a lot of places that make biryani without meat, it's deep spice flavors, generous portion, would get extra raita on the side bc that's great too. The fish tika masala was thick, rich sauce, lots of fish pieces, deeply flavorful, great with any naan dipped in. Would highly recommend if you like tikka masala or butter chicken but don't want meat. Naans, all great, we have had the garlic cheese naan and it's large, hot, cheesy, chunks of garlic on there, so good. The mint tea is very minty and VERY sweet. Not shown is the chili fish, another solid entree, large fish pieces, slightly spicy, in a less saucy preparation than a curry.

The eat-in experience was ok, but the inside felt more like a fast food environment. Plastic ware was available as well as serve yourself fountain drinks and water. (The self serve filtered water they have for customers was a nice option over bottled) The takeout experience wasn't great. The food was ready on time, but we ended up spending over $120 for four meals which is ridiculous for the entrees we ordered. The chicken tikka masala was below average, the sauce was too sweet and more like a bastardized tomato sauce. The rice lacked flavor and the lentils were sweet and not appetizing. I will admit that the dry chicken tikka was pretty good. They were skewered charred on the outside and had a decent charcoal flavor, but again the rice was boring as well as the chickpeas. My buddy had Kheer (aka rice pudding) for dessert and enjoyed it. My eat in experience was for lunch. The staff looked like they were gearing up for the day so wait times were a bit long. After talking to the guy up front about the various menu offerings and their indoor charcoal grill, I ordered a chicken kabob roll upon his recommendation. A kabob roll sounded intriguing - chicken kabob with lettuce and sauce rolled inside of naan bread with mint chutney on the side. While waiting for my order, I watched the front display slowly load up with various kabobs and lamb chops as the previous nights Sixers game was replaying on the single TV they have mounted on a wall. If you don't order something fresh off the menu they do have combo meal choices available for less of a wait. They consisted of several menu options in a warming station by the checkout counter that could be mixed with rice and naan. When my roll arrived I was digging the aroma. Two fresh kabobs wrapped inside of a soft warm naan bread had me drooling. Unfortunately, I wasn't blown away by the flavors, but It was still a pretty cool idea. I'd return to try their smokey wings, but other than that much better quality and cheaper options can be found in Bensalem.

Covid Takeout Review…read more Did a GrubHub takeout from Shagun Palace yesterday, and was very satisfied with the result. The restaurant is in the rear of a shopping center on Street Road, Bensalem, where there is a significant cluster of South Asian kitchens. Competition being severe, the quality is higher than in many more isolated Indian houses. Our order: Veggie Samosa for an appetizer; Chicken Korma, Chili Chicken - Dry, as entrees; and Baingan Bartha (curry eggplant), for a veggie side; and Garlic Naan to soak up the sauces. The foods were all very good to excellent, with kudos to the korma and dry chili chicken, which displayed spice skill with the sauces. The bird was perfectly cooked, and not at all dried out. If there was a weakness, it was the Naan, which appeared premade and merely heated in the oven before wrapping in foil. It was thicker and drier than normal, and not the least bit flakey, nor with expected air pockets. There was practically no garlic flavor. Next time, skip the naan. There are talented hands at Shagun Palace where they are allowed to perform their magic. They are masters of curry cream reductions, but make a mistake in not carrying the expertise through to their breads. If they lack a tandoor for BBQ and Indian oven breads, they really should invest in one. It would make Shagun a more complete 5 Star experience.

The chicken biryani tasted just like a mix and not a good taste at all. I'm definitely not returning back.
