Tanning, hot yoga, and towel service of course come at an additional cost of that is something you are considering. And the cost to drop in is steep enough. There is an international cost too(or something along those lines I think is what it's called) if you travel a lot and want to use Goodlife's around Canada, otherwise be prepared to pay $5 per visit. Who likes to work out alone? Have no fear group fitness is here! Personally I'm a super fan of group classes, they just help give me that extra kick in the butt that I need, plus the instructors are usually fantastic high energy, lots of options kind of people. I think I've tried pretty much every class here at least once. Of course you'll find those instructors whose style you love so don't be afraid to try the same class a second time with a different instructor. They have a great array, here are just a few off the top of my head: body pump(lots of reps with weights), spin (stationary bike), step( coordinated dance using a platform), body attack (combinations of bits of kickboxing, and other fighting styles), body flow (Pilates, yoga, tai chi combo). Of course check out the full descriptions online or outside the group fitness classroom to get a much better idea if what I'm trying to explain. Parking- so much parking here you never have to worry! Everything you need at a gym!…read more Hot yoga at this location has fabulous instructors who do a great job facilitating and leading the practice, it is not included with membership though. This newer gym has pretty decent layout and has all the basics - machines,free weights, squat racks, 3 bench press stations, and one of my favorite a turf section that has sleds to push/ pull. There is also a private section just for personal trainers so you don't have to worry about how busy the gym is when you got a personal training session. Tons of cardio machines The spin class and workout room both have a virtual function that has a drop-down projector screen and a select your own virtual trainer/workout just in case there is no trainer booked when you need your workout. They have massage therapy clinic and free to use massage chairs OMG ( they're very epic). I believe there's a health/ nutrition consultant as well. The vending machine there has protein bars and powder , pre workout, snacks and tanning oils for there two tanning rooms on site ( stand up and lie down) I would probably boost to a five star if there was an Olympic lift section...

Our dear friend Lorraine invited us to try it out and we had essentially a private free session as it was our first time- your first time is free to try! A great benefit if you've never tried cross ft before or are just getting into it. They have a great diversity of workout gear including kettle bells, foam rollers, lacrosse balls, bands, rowers, assault bike, dowel training bar, rings, barbells, medicine balls, and a rig. Their focus is you- because you are the machine. I really liked how they shared their view on crossfit and helped get us situated with not only a standard tour but they shared their story of how they got started in cross fit themselves and how they want to continue to have great vitality and health for themselves. The vibe here was AWESOME! Really relaxed and friendly, and then Jay and Anne were stellar coaches during our workout. They were clear and gave fantastic instruction on form and lots of healthy encouragement. To get started on your crossfit journey they recommend coming to 5 basic courses to get you feeling confident in your form and getting to know your body. I went to Travis initially because he believes in altruism and also because I needed help doing…read moresome stretches that I was hoping would heal my muscles faster from workouts. He started out with a 30 minute lecture on the anatomy his stretches would stretch out, and while the information was kind of interesting I could've done without it. Once we finished the session and I was doing the stretches at home I found they were doing nothing more than making another part of my body sore, so they were having the opposite effect of what they were supposed to, so I abandoned them. My body seems to have loosened up organically on it's own, so this problem seems to have solved itself. Overall I was disappointed in the value I got for my $85. The only thing that prevented the review from being a 1 star review is I found he was very patient in teaching me the stretches, so that's a point in his favor.

With smaller class sizes, you can get more personalized attention/help from the instructors during classes, and make sure you are completing the exercises in correct form so as to prevent injury. They offer a range of memberships and classes/exercises not usually seen in other gyms/workout studios, like the multitude of arrangements and heights for bars, rings, and ropes. For those looking to try it out, I'd suggest the kickstart program - a 4 week program (12x one-hour sessions) that goes over every movement they offer and how to progress from whatever level you're starting at, which means ALL levels are welcome! A drop-in/punch pass is also a great place to start if you're wanting to check it out and get a feel for the space and instructors :) Remember to bring a water bottle and SMILE!!

The Coaches - Each and every coach, from the 4 owners to the new Level 1 coaches, are very knowledgeable. Whether it's your first time at a crossfit gym or your an elite competitor, they will give you tips on how to improve. EVERYONE gets some 1 on 1 instruction from a coach throughout the class (often there are 2 coaches). If you are struggling with something, they will put the extra time and effort into either give you new verbal cues, demonstrate a lift, show video clips, or researh new ideas - trust me, there's no movement you can't conquer! I have found that many coaches at other gyms either don't care about helping you improve and would rather chat with their buddies, or they just don't know how to help you.These coaches LOVE crossfit, and it shows. The Gym - The gym is bigger and better after they moved one door down - a larger space, new rig, extra weights, and new toys (ie axle bars, tires, atlas stones, punching bag, you name it). Plenty of space for the class, plus personal training, plus athletes doing their own workouts. Sometimes the workout is in the back parking lot, and there's a good running loop with minimal traffic. The Schedule - Armoury has the BEST schedule out of all crossfit gyms. They are pretty well open 6am-10pm, and are even open for a few hours (not just 1 or 2 classes like most gyms) on Saturday AND Sunday. The WODS - The workouts are programmed weekly by one of the coaches (regional competitor). There is always a new focus but the workouts are always unique. I have found that many gyms stick to the basics and it seems you're doing a similar wod every week, but Armoury is very good at throwing in new movements and pushing your limits! There is always a strength portion and a wod, plus extra credit if you must! And of course there are always tons of scaling options - technique comes first, and you only push yourself as hard as you want to. The Atmosphere - Everyone at the gym is very friendly, male and females, age ranges from late teens to senior. Come for a workout a couple times a week, or become a regular and get competitive - they've got the tools and resources to send people to regionals if you so desire!
