I absolutely loved it! The teacher was incredibly supportive and encouraging. She got me to push my limits in ways other classes haven't. The class usually only had 3-4 of us so it almost felt like semi-private coaching. I ended up taking another Bootcamp class with a different teacher the next season and again, the teacher was great though this time the class was more full (not a bad thing). Unfortunately the next season, Bootcamp no longer fit my schedule so I decided to start using their fitness facilities by myself. The gym is fairly small but usually not too busy. I've never had to wait for my prefered cardio machines or for weights. It is clean and tidy and there is always a staff member available if you have any questions. While there are fancier gyms in Edmonton, the Saville Centre has everything you need for a basic workout and lots of opportunities for group fitness classes. Plus the membership fees are very reasonable, particularly if you are a U of A student or alumni.

For the noise and crowd: I plan my workout time around rush hours and I completely avoid the place when there is a tournament. The customer service is awesome and the staff is always nice and helpful! I haven't had any bad experiences related to customer service! If you plan it right, you can enjoy your workouts here! Shortly after joining this gym and signing up for…read more personal training, I decided to cancel my membership and my personal training sessions for a few reasons. Every time I visited either the steam room, dry sauna or hot tub were closed/out of commission. One reason I chose this gym is because they told me it is child free, however there were always kids running around in the change room as there were swimming lessons taking place. These points are the least of my concerns however. When I decided to cancel, I was directed to the general manager Justin Moxon. He had told me that he was disappointed to see me go, but he understood, he assured me my membership & personal training was to be cancelled and I would receive a refund for the personal training I had paid for. They were in fact not cancelled, I met with him on multiple occasions and he insisted that it would be cancelled and I would be issued a refund. That was back in the summer of 2025 and it is currently February 2026. The issues I had with the gym are one thing, but constantly being lied to is another issue altogether. They are currently being sued by The FTC in the US for this, so beware.

You get a few hours of fun and the game may seem complicated but if you check out the rules it is actually pretty simple. Each team has a Jammer indicated by a star on their helmet. Those players score points by passing people on the track. Only the Jammer in the lead gets the points. Games are quite exciting as it is faced paced and very active. These women and men are very athletic! The games are licensed so you can enjoy some bevvies. There is also food things to buy. They often do baked goods or canteen food. There are also merchandise tables to buy roller derby associated goods. At the last game we were at they even had a massage therapist doing free 5 minute chair massages. So come out and try something new and have some fun. Support some local athletes and have a unique date!

We mingled over wine at cocktail hour between 6 and 7, then settled in for our meal. The set-up was buffet style. The line-up can get a bit long, but personally I love buffet! I'm on a healthy-eating kick, so I was able to load up my place with salad and veggies and salmon, skipping the gravy and dinner rolls. And the best part? Everything is *super* tasty. You won't find anything very exotic here - it's the standard caesar, spinach salad, turkey, mashed potatoes - but it's all quite delicious. The room was fairly good acoustics although they could have turned the microphone up a little bit. It's also much warmer in the area where the food trays are - I was a little chilly sitting near the window. It is quite nice to be in a room with windows, though! Dessert is even better! OK, I know I said I'm on a healthy eating kick, but I just can't say no to cheesecake. Delicious! I hope the organization continues to hold their Christmas parties here - it's an awesome choice!
