Where is your proof that I was going to be 15 minutes late? I have uploaded and edited to my review the text messages, and also to your company's page to show your response was untrue. On April 26 you booked me for APRIL 27 @6:30pm. On April 27 at 6:08pm you asked if I could come a few minutes earlier, I said I could not since I lived 25 minutes away but that I would be there 6:31pm (on time, where is the 15 minutes you mentioned?). Anyhow - how do you provide a different service to someone in 30 minutes. You thought initially I was getting a full set, but luckily for you I was only getting a fill. Doesn't a full set take more time? That proves you were going to rush me because you had a dinner planned and tried to squeeze me in. Shows your inability to properly manage your own schedule and you literally cancelled on me when I was 3 minutes away all due to your poor communication. I had an important event that night so of course I still wanted to be seen since I was already in route. Also I have a text message on April 9 from you (also uploaded) when you told me that for a full set you take about 45 minutes. April 27 all of a sudden you condensed ALL OF your appointments to 30 minutes? So again, please plan accordingly, learn to be honest, and look up the definition of being courteous to your customers. Please DO NOT choose this place! I'm warning you save your natural lashes! I just went there a week ago got my lashes done by Shawna, first my eyes were glued top with bottom lashes, no big deal happens. But she pulled them so hard apart ripping my bottom lash. I kept my pain in me and smiled anyway but it's been a week and my natural lashes are falling!!! And each extension is glued to four natural eye lashes!! Who does that?! Omg! I've been getting lashes done from last 4 years and this is A NIGHTMARE!!! I was giving this place a go because they had a good deal but Jesus.. My eyes look bald now thanks shawna! Was in search of affordable mink full set of lashes & found a deal online that they offered to honor after I called regarding availability. Two hour free parking in underground garage, elevator & stairs (on 1st level) . Zen is on the second floor to the right once you exit the elevator/take the stairs. I sat in the waiting area, there was a sign in sheet and handmade jewelry for sale. My awesome lash artist Henwa came out and introduced herself she is friendly and answered my questions. The whole team was friendly and welcoming. She asked what style I wanted for my Classic full set mink lash she gave me two options I went with cat eye and she did an amazing job. It took about 1hr 30min and I love how they came out. She is skilled and patient made this a comfortable experience, one complaint was the smell of cigarette but aside from that I, a thousand times recommend Henwa, for her skill set, my lashes lasted me 3-4 weeks I'm on my 5th week now and definitely in need of a re-do too late for a fill with these few strays. Henwa's work is amazing however i do have a ton of lashes to work with so i did have a fuller look than a typical classic set. They text me after my second week to check in for a fill which was nice that they check in *Disclaimer: I am not the "careful" type when I have lash ext., I swam in these, showered, and even applied mascara so i definitely give Henwa a 10/10 for durability. I think my real disappointment is realizing that I really don't have value as a customer at Zen. I should have read the yelp reviews before I went to this place. What a bad experience. I was so excited to get lashes for my trip, I ended up going on the trip with less lashes than my natural ones. I got service here the day before I left for my trip. First off, they didn't even have my appoint on the right day on their schedule, I had to get my appointment an hour late, and I was on a tight schedule to get ready for traveling the next day. They took a very short amount of time to put on the lashes, when other places take at least an hour. They told me they actually spent extra time on me and gave me extra lashes when it really looked like they put almost nothing on. I felt like it looked like 10 pieces of spread out lashes, it was weird. An hour after I left I noticed the lashes falling, 24 hours later they were half gone, 36 hours later, there was a couple pieces left of each eye. I was so annoyed. I was on a trip with less lashes then my natural ones! I asked the owner to refund me and I sent her a picture but she said I probably did something to damage them. Why would I pay so much and then risk damaging them when I'm going on a trip!? Then she said I might be able to get a discount if I come in again. Are you serious? Why would I ever come back. I have been going to this place for 2 years i started with Andie she was great then she have left to Orange county and I was getting service or should I say bad service from Andrea. Instead of one hour refill it would be 30 minutes she was slow and never made my eyes pop the way Andie was. Today I decided enough is enough. And guess what they have no idea what customer service is she wanted to charge full set which I had no problem with but then given me attitude and raise her voice. I bought a full set of lashes and one refill for $99. I called to make an appointment at the Woodland Hills location which is right down the street. Surprisingly, they said they had an opening at 11am. I found a sitter, and called back to book the appointment to find out that it was at the Sherman Oaks location. Since I found a sitter, I figured just to drive out. Currently the Woodland Hills location is not open. I had no problem when I showed up for my appointment, Shawna was ready and quick. I have very short lashes. It took about 45 minutes for my appointment. I've had lashes before, and this was pretty quick, so I was happy. When they were finished, the look was ok. I wanted more of a fuller look, I told her, this ended up being longer and less full. When I got in the car I looked again to notice that there were some gaps and a lot of lashes without extensions. Being positive, I figured that when I went in for a fill that I would be happier and the they were a work in progress. Results...By Sunday, half of my lashes fell out. I tried to take a picture for you, but close ups are harder than they look LOL. I called to get a refund on the fill. I was willing to pay for the full set, after reading the reviews I didn't think I would get one anyways. Unfortunately they do not give any refunds. Now I am going back to the lady that did an awesome job before (it's further from home, I was looking for something closer) So I will have to completely remove what is left and pay for a new set again. My Vote- Pass on Zen Lashes ps. If I would have gotten the simple $25 difference, I wouldn't have written this review. My friend and I got the $70 deal on Groupon for a full set. The receptionist was talking to Shawnna's friend - It took the receptionist minutes to acknowledged us. Angela and Shawnna were doing lashes on other people. Shawnna was done first and my friend was scheduled with her. She didn't get up to greet her. She did not fix the bed. She did not wash her hands. She sounded sick and was touching her face a lot as she was doing the lashes. I had an appointment with Angela. When Angela was done she did the opposite of Shawnna. She was well dressed. She got up and greeted me. She fixed the bed. She put hand sanitizer. She was very friendly and I felt comfortable with her. The receptionist was very unprofessional. She was on her cell phone and she looked like she just got back from the gym. The receptionist and Shawnna were talking about their personal life. Very private things. There was another woman there who I thought was part of the staff.. Turns out she was just a friend of Shawnna's and they were going to a club after they were done. Shawnna, the receptionist and her friend were very unprofessional. They were being very loud and had no consideration for the customers. The bathroom was dirty - if the receptionist has nothing to do she should clean. There's NEVER nothing do to. In the end Angela did a great job. I gave her a good tip.. Unfortunately my friends lashes didn't look as good. When Shawnna was done with her lashes her eyes burned- mine didn't. As a result my friends natural lashes fell off with the fake ones. I bought a $99 deal through Groupon for a full set of faux mink lashes with one fill. Boy was this a rip-off. Shauna assured me that these lashes would give me volume. When she was finished I couldn't even see any difference. She said that's because I don't have many natural lashes and they're very fine. I needed the extra volume lashes that are of course $50 more. I really can't afford that. The way my lashes look now, I will have to use mascara over them or add some false lashes. I don't know if I will even bother going back for the fill in. A total waste of time and $. Also the staff was very unprofessional. The receptionist is covered in tattoos and is talking about how her ex is calling a place where she is interviewing and telling them they should test her for drugs. The other lash technician is saying she's disappointed because she can't use her fake ID to go drinking. I don't really think you should be talking about these things in front of customers. Cute and cozy place in a busy shopping plaza but definitely worth the search. Parking is tricky sometimes so just gotta be careful where to park. Made an appointment with Andrea who did my lashes for the first time and I just got all compliments. Made them look natural and even. I've seen other girls and you just can't stop staring. Not this gal. However, if you are into the full volume look she does that as well. Second time around she did my lashes and a facial. It was so relaxing and my skin looked amazing. Would definitely recommend her. The owner Shawnna was there as well and they're just such a cute pair. They always look cute and make you feel right at home. I have been going here consistently for a good amount of time . Shauna is great, and is super patient with me. I have really sensitive eyes , and a couple of other lash stylists have been annoyed by that, but I've never had an issue here, which is why I dong think I'll ever go elsewhere . Also, she really cares in general , which I appreciate . As for the receptionist "covered" in tattoos , that is a very liberal statement . I vaguely recall noticing she had one at some point , but it's not like the chick has got full sleeves . Overall everyone is friendly , they can be chatty , but it's not obnoxious and I'd rather have that, than a stilted, frigid environment. This business uses bait and switch practices. When a Groupon was purchased they couldn't honor it until after Christmas ( 3 weeks away) but they could fit me in immediately if I wanted to pay cash and they would match the Groupon price and then I could just use the Groupon later. Sounds good right? When I went in they asked me if I wanted a full set which is what I thought my Groupon was for so I said yes. After the service the bill was $20 more than the Groupon price and when asked they said " you agreed to the full set and that's more". When questioned about not being clear and upfront about clarifying the Groupon versus an extra service, they replied " it's not my job to educate you about what kind of Groupon you have and that you may need to pay more". It's not a deal... don't go there! And no effort to try and repair the trust with the customer. read more

Shawna did them, first of all when got there at 10am I was the first costumer! she was on her phone ARGUING and Angela greeted us because we were standing there just watching her on her phone waiting for a response of some sort. Anyway we sit down as she continues her conversation on the phone. she even said "my clients here i'm not going to argue with you it's unprofessional" but continues anyway!! finally she gets up and says ok come on lay down over here. no hello, nice to meet you, is this your first time? nothing. (She didn't even was her hands!) I started telling her this was my first time so I kinda wanted something nice and she just is sort with "okay's" she's chewing her gum all crazy. THEN she would stop w/ putting my lashes TO TEXT!!!!! like if that's not enough someone calls her & she ANSWER ON SPEAKER!!! they're having a whole convo as if I'm not listening lol!! it was just such a mess. Now to talk about the actual "job" she did ..... its WAAACK. she left gaps & kept telling me it's cause you have gaps so I did the best as I could but ya ! like okkk. Also, I took my friend with me and she notice that some of my hair was like falling into the glue for the lashes and when she tried to move it Shawna goes "No just leave it, ill cut it!" I got a Groupon for a full set of lashes. When it was my turn, I had to ask Shawna to put a paper towel down since a customer just left and she didn't put down a fresh cover. The other girl ate her lunch on her client's table and talked to Shawna the entire time. The music was "house" music playing loudly and I asked if if she would please turn it lower - she started to argue with me but then stopped and turned it down. I gave her a good tip in spite of her work. The lashes looked bad and I regret not walking out immediately as was my inclination to do so. Very unprofessional and not very clean. I clearly understand why the 3 stars.... the women who owns this location has horrible customer service skills!!! To start I got a groupon to use and when I came in to my appointment and told them I had purchased a groupon I was made to feel like I should have told them since they only take a few groupons per day and with her hoffing and puffing over me for 5 minutes about the groupon I felt uncomfortable she was taping my eyes shut and applying lashes. I was also over listening to a client who couldn't make it and how she needed to charge her and was talking poorly as I am a new client, not an old friend! It was nothing of a "Zen Experience". I only wanted a half set and explained I didn't want to use mascara and this was my reason for doing lashes. So I don't understand why she made the ends so incredibly long in order to look "normal" I HAD to wear mascara and really build them up to match the long ends she applied. After a few days I had to cut them down to feel "natural" again. After two weeks I booked my fill appointment and misunderstood the receptionist hearing my appointment 11:30 not 11:00. I showed up 12 minutes before my appointment and was told I was 18 minutes late and she was SO BUSY she could not accommodate me for the rest of the day. Mind you that I drove to the valley in the rain and her employee was laying on her cot chatting it up as I walked in the door. They were very unprofessional and extremely unwilling to accommodate my journey to her salon anytime for that day. Not ONLY will I NOT come back for my paid fill but I will pass on to NEVER use the services of this "hole in the wall" salon. I went to this place two times. The first time I asked for natural. I honestly just feel like they only do certain "types" of peoples lashes nice. She took 20 minutes to do my lashes each time. My boss who also has a minimum amount of lashes goes to another lash lady who makes hers so thick. I keep getting the excuse that my lashes aren't super long so it can't be full. When the reason people get lashes is to make it full. It's either laziness, prejudice behavior, or lake of expertise. But I keep seeing all these other women walking out with their lashes so full and nice! Never again will I waste 250 in total again. It took Shawna (owner) 20 minutes total to do full set - she said "I've been doing this for long time (7 years) so I'm fast." My appointment was at 2:00 pm. she started me at 2:05 pm and I was in my car by 2:25 pm!!! The other two people lashes fell off WITHIN 3 DAYS; mine lasted ONE week. RUN, and I mean RUN the other way. I'm not a '"yelper" but signed on so i can spare someone else of spending a penny at this unprofessional, not clean, horrible place. I left TWO messages and asked for a full refund, and no response yet. I will prepare small claims court papers (I'm a paralegal) and have them served. I want a full refund. Reply to Shawanna: Shawanna, you are consistent with your slickness and lies. Your shop, as I told you, smells like Pizza and looks dirty. You are not a truthful person by ANY MEANS. A real LIAR.
