I am visiting my parents in Asheville this week and Janet gave me an amazing reiki treatment! I highly recommend seeing her if you are at all curious. At first I was somewhat skeptical of reiki, but after having two sessions I'm a full convert. In my view, reiki helps clear out negative energies that might be stuck inside your body. These energies can lead to depression, pains in the body, and a general feeling of anxiety. The reiki practioner targets these energies and helps release them. Janet talked with me first about my needs and hopes for the session, and asked me to remain flexible with the outcome--and I'm glad she did because more was released than I ever thought possible. She made me feel very comfortable and cared for during the whole experience. Thank you Janet, from the bottom of my heart, for a truly beautiful, magical, and healing reiki session. read more

This is my first time using the app. I literally downloaded this app so I can tell you about my experience. I'll get straight to the point. The person who was supposed to do our piercing had a stick up their butt. We called three times to make sure we could come in on the same day. Called to let them know we would be late because there was so much traffic and construction. We drove an hour and a half away. Anyway, we called the last time to let them know how far we were. They said to come on in, we asked if we should leave our name and number, they said no it was fine they were expecting us. Okay, so we walked in, we waited, and the piercer told us they would not do the appointment. Okay cool they were closing in 30 minutes. I can understand not wanting to do that anymore but why didn't they call us back and tell us they can't anymore? Everyone's time is valuable so I understand. I offered more money just in case we could. They got upset and had an attitude that I even asked. As if I personally offended them. They made it my problem that they wanted to close early. No means no, I respect that. So why were they speaking rudely. Of course that was annoying. So I asked if there was a place they recommended and I was asking more questions and they talked over me. I was taken aback by this behavior. I only wanted to try and ask. It was my sister's birthday and she wanted something special. The way they were speaking made her cry but she was very kind. Anyways I said for future reference it would be nice for proper communication and a heads-up. I don't know much about business etiquette but I do know that it wasn't nice for them to act the way they did. I in no way feel entitled to anyone's services but a little southern hospitality goes a long way. Anyways I figured I would leave my one and only review for this place. I wonder if things would be different if we were white. We went here because it was woman owned. "How empowering", apparently not. read more

Extremely unfriendly walked in with my service dog and the woman behind the counter. Immediately said "no dogs allowed" unbelievable 9 pound service dog I have PTSD but who cares right-they sure don't.!!!!! Improve? Hire polite and friendly people!!! Under the circumstances you would think that a devastated community would have open arms to business but apparently not!!! read more

Came here with my GF on her birthday today. She wanted to buy some sage and look around at the other art in the store. I feel super bad for the artists that sell at this space. The clerk was one of the rudest I've ever interacted with in my life. I never leave reviews for this sort of thing btw. Otherwise, the store has awesome wares and cool stuff. read more

I took my pre-teen daughter to Kass because she's been begging to get her ears pierced for years. This was post-hurricane Helene and the shop was in perfect order. The reception staff were very friendly and sweet with my daughter (who was very nervous). Kass walked us through the process while completing the sterilization/setup. She patiently answered all of my daughter's questions (before and after piercing). She walked her through breathing and made it clear she could come back another time if she got too nervous. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and knowledge. So glad I found them instead of doing this at the mall. Kass and Zen Ink made this an exceptional experience that neither my daughter or I will forget! Go check them out- THEY ARE OPEN!!! read more

I'll start by saying, I love the piece that I got done. It is what I wanted, maybe not exact, but I'm happy about it. From start to finish - I filled out the questionnaire online and selected my artist 3 weeks prior to my trip. I indicated that I wanted to pay $20 extra for 3 designs to choose from via text or email AHEAD of my appointment time. I was notified via email by the artist that my appointment was selected and that I could now do my deposit. I placed my deposit and set the appointment time (traveling from out of state to visit my sister in Asheville) A week before my appointment I emailed the artist and asked if everything was on track and if I needed to do anything else to help the design along. No response. The day of my appointment I arrive and check in, fill out the waiver and wait. The artist came out approx 20 min later with 1 sketch of my design and was visibly annoyed when I tried to give feedback indicating changes and in accuracies based on my initial request. I had a phrase requested with my design and when I asked for a more scripted girly font was immediately told "I don't do any kind of writing in my work, you won't find a single post on my instagram with words" - I am completely aware each artist has their niche, however when booking the appointment I researched each artist and based on the floral style I had in mind (and response from the artist via email) I assumed that it would be ok prior to putting down my deposit. I should have probably just left at that point, I had a very uneasy feeling. Now, after sorting out the majority of changes needed I got back to the room and the phrase was still wrong on the stencil. Again, I am pleased with the piece I had done. A memorial to a loved one lost (sunflower)with my own personal go-to reminder phrase(Bible verse) but I would have just appreciated a little more communication, especially since that seemed to be expectation from the initial email "I'll be with you every step of the way" It really felt like my piece was designed after I walked in the door at the time of my appointment. I will say, the artist was very kind, sweet and seemed very personable otherwise. She seemed to be interested and listened to my story, but I was only there for a couple hours and I doubt she remembers me or my piece that is so very dear to me after that. Quality tattoo, sub par experience. read more

I was visiting Asheville from Charlotte with some friends and spontaneously decided to get a couple new piercings. Found this place based on reviews and the location. I emailed them to see if I could make an appointment and someone got back to me within the hour. I love when people get straight to the point! So I booked an appointment for a Saturday. The place is small, but the people are really friendly and super helpful with answering questions. They made you feel super welcome, even for my friends that came with me. The piercings (I got a rook and cartilage, see image) went smoothly and they gave me instructions to clean and care for them. I absolutely loved the service and their good vibes! I definitely would recommend this location for anyone wanting a piercing! Also - it is now 6 weeks since my piercing and I can definitely say I had zero issues or swelling. The solution they have worked perfectly! read more

Kass did my conch piercing yesterday and she was absolutely fabulous. I went in wanting my tragus pierced but she explained that it was too small to work well. She is so so so knowledgeable about her art and she spent 45 minutes with me picking out a new piercing plan. She was very patient and helped me pick out what would be best for my specific ears, since they're so small and compact. I went with the conch and she helped me pick out this beautiful piece of jewelry! She was very clean and did a wonderful job with it. 100000/10 recommend Kass for anyone wanting any type of piercing. I have 9 piercings, and this was by far my best experience ever getting one. read more

Stopped in on a whim with my fiancé and best friend from college - my fiancé and I had seen their various artists' work online and hoped to get matching tattoos but failed to plan ahead with an appointment or solidified idea. To our delight they were able and willing to squeeze us into the day and their artist, Charlie, was more than happy to tattoo not only my fiancé but my best friend as well, and even stayed past closing to get us all done. Charlie did a phenomenal job on all our tattoos from conceptualization to execution- his line work was clean and efficient and his attention to detail was appreciated by all. The entire staff was incredible and accommodating - the three of us blabbed and laughed and had a great time catching up as we were tattooed. We did our best to be mindful of not getting too loud or rambunctious and asked several times if we were a nuisance, but were reassured that we were fine. It seemed the staff enjoyed having us there and joined in with our conversations even! The entire experience was phenomenal and I can't recommend this place enough. The shop up front was super rad, the gal at the front who checked us in was incredibly kind and attentive, the waiver process was easy peasy, and the cost was more than fair. While I don't live in Asheville anymore, I can't recommend any other city more for ink! Thank you all! read more

So, this was my first tattoo and I tried to do a lot of research before making my decision of who to entrust it to. I feel like I definitely made the right choice. The appointment process was so easy and communication was always quick. I loved the atmosphere and everyone I encountered seemed so friendly and fun. For my artist, I chose Wyatt. He's so laid back that, after our first meeting, I worried about his professionalism. I shouldn't have. I gave him a lot of creative license and he did not disappoint me. Everyone who has seen it since has had the same reaction, it's bad ass. I will totally recommend this place, and Wyatt in particular, to anyone looking for a tattoo. read more

Got pierced by Alaina today. She did phenomenal and made the process as easy as could be. Would definitely go back. :)

Came here based on glowing reviews across google and Yelp. My friends and I were extremely disappointed. We arrived right after opening and were told we had to make an appointment for later in the afternoon, which we thought was reasonable. We arrived five minutes before our scheduled appointment time and had to wait 30 minutes for our piercer, which we didn't expect, but it wasn't the end of the world, just a bit disappointing. During our wait time, we inquired at the front desk what some of the unlabeled earrings were made of, and we did not get a solid response, (they were maybe made of titanium? But definitely not surgical steel) which is unnerving when you are going to be putting it into your body. In addition, we asked about pricing for getting a double lobe piercing first and the front desk could not give us an answer. The pricing was unavailable anywhere online and was only located at one small sign in the shop, which was unclear and confusing. In addition, there seemed to be a piercing station out in the open, including uncovered isopropyl alcohol (which should never be used on a piercing) and squares of paper towel which were NOT sterile. Also, the shop is full of spiritual items which were heavily overpriced, and lots of the crystals were likely fake, suspicious or dyed. After this, we were wary of the piercings, but waited to talk to the piercer themself. The piercer informed us that the total price for two basic lobe piercings with the cheapest jewelry would be $115 dollars before tax and tip. For those of whose who don't know, this is extremely overpriced (about double) what you can get at other piercing shops. Overall, we were extremely disappointed by this shop and would not recommend the trip. The staff was kind to us, but the products were not to our satisfaction, and we decided not to get the piercings out of an abundance of caution and severity of price. We cannot speak about the tattoos at all however, get your piercings somewhere else. read more

I had a great experience here. I was visiting the area and researched around a bit. I emailed the owner the nite before I was planning to go and she replied very promptly. She was not able to do my tatt herself, but put me in touch with one of the artists that was available. I went in the next day and loved the atmosphere, very clean and tranquil. Each artist has their own private booth area, which is a big plus to me. The artist (Kylie) greeted me and was very sweet throughout the whole session. The entire process was very professional as she started me on time, was polite and patient. She made sure I was content with placement of the tattoo (I brought in a design). The shop minimum is a tad high ($80), but other than that it's a nice spot and I'd definitely visit again/recommend. read more

The business front was busy with restocking, but the employees didn't seem to notice any customers entering and exiting the shop. A like a relaxed setting but not to the point of neglect. So, my piercings were uneven and again too nonchalant to be considered professional. I'm at fault for being too excited about new piercings to leave so heed this warning and shop elsewhere. read more

Honestly the best tattoo experience I've ever had! If I saw my tattoo on anyone else walking down the street, I'd be so jealous but it's mine and I get to carry it around forever! :) Had the honor of being tattooed by Rebecca, so incredibly talented, sweet, and collaborative. Coming from out of state for that hand drawn botanical look I've been dying to achieve, it put me at ease that she worked with me on the design the week leading up to my appointment. Blown away at her willingness to create and get my feedback. Out of all my tattoos I've never been so involved in the design and was never 100% happy because the artist never truly listened. Rebecca 100% listens!! So important! She took an existing tattoo I had, re-worked it as a part of a new piece and weeks later I'm still just as in love and blown away by how beautiful and delicate it is. Exactly what I wanted. I'm sure in the near future her books will be closed and the wait list will be insane. She's that talented. The shop is approachable, relaxed, and welcoming. Not at all pretentious and definitely not that "boys club" I'm used to. It was so refreshing to feel at home and not out of place. Great energy and lots of talent. If your looking for a botanical beauty that's delicate, feminine, and absolutely beautiful in a space that's comfortable - just book your appointment now! zen ink is easily my favorite tattoo parlor. i've gotten my last three tattoos here, two from kelli and one from kristen, and i'm already in the process of booking another appointment with kristen! earlier this month, my partner and one of our best friend's came with me and also got amazing tattoos they love (a kelli/kristen collab on my partner, and a whimsical piece by nic on our bestie). it's always such a lovely experience. the music is low and calming, there's no strong smells, and they even give you stress balls and crystals to borrow during your time getting tattooed. the staff is kind and helpful. seriously obsessed with the artists and energy this shop houses! read more

I had a great experience at Zen Ink. My daughter and I got tattoos in honor of my father. Shauntell was wonderful to work with. She took my idea and made it into a beautiful design. Best "tattoo shop" I've ever been to, if you can even call it that! When you walk in you're greeted with soft music and a quiet atmosphere giving you more of a spa experience than a traditional tattoo shop. My experience was amazing! Mychela was the one who tattooed me and she NAILED it! I let her design me a simple fine line floral design and she captured everything I wanted! I would definitely recommend her for beginners as well because she is very gentle and checked in with me along the way to make sure I was doing ok and didn't need anything. I came in on a whim and left with two new cartilage piercings! My piercer, Glo, was a nurse for 15 years and has been piercing for 13, so I couldn't have trusted her more. Predominantly a female shop, these ladies kick ass! I was in town for my birthday and woke up deciding I wanted a tattoo. Our waitress at brunch recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. It's mostly by appointment only but Sierra was able to fit me in at the end of the day; stayed about an hour after closing. I just wanted a simple monogram but she took the time to design it out and add extra elements to it; block lettering and shading. She did a great job and was thoroughly entertaining the whole time! The shop vibe was super chill and everyone was friendly and upbeat. My wife was impressed by their Henna artist River and ended up booking her for a session. River's work was also excellent.
