I had a really disappointing experience at this location. One of the coworkers was extremely rude and kept making racist comments under her breath while following us. It created such an uncomfortable and unprofessional atmosphere. Management clearly needs to pay more attention to who they hire and how employees treat people. I had a pleasant shopping experience. The customer service was good, I found the items I was looking for.

My buddy and I were shopping for Carhart and Dickies clothes, but didn't want to shop online, because so often stuff doesn't fit and you have to return it, didn't want to pay Lincoln Park prices. Looking for good selection and relaxed shopping environment. I suggested Zemsky's Archer Avenue. I am from the South Side and have known the store since I was a kid. Surprised and happy they are still there. What a weird experience. I was dissappointed that the prices are equivalent to what you can find online and secondly, the sales lady just did not leave me alone, making idle conversation, following me around, but not helping at all. And I needed help. because strangely, they were out of my size. I'm LARGE/XLARGE!! Lots of 2XL 3XL...no L or XL??? I am a 65 yr old man originally from the neighborhood. Why is she shadowing me? On top of that the dressing rooms don't have mirrors, and the few mirrors they do have are just slim junky ones in random locations. Being able to try clothes on is the only real reason to not shop online. Despite the mediocre selection, my buddy and I each bought over $250.00 worth of clothes. However, due to the hovering sales people and inability to see what you look like in the clothes, quite a few of the clothes my friend bought didn't fit. So we schlepped back to Archer Avenue the next day to exchange the sizes. When we tried to exchange the clothes, one 27.00 pair of pants did not match any pant (color?) on the receipt. The salesgirl was very clear that they would..."review the security tape of the purchase" before they would refund. This is $27.00 of over $500.00 of combined sales....Seriously??? My friend had exchanged clothes of about 200.00 and at this point I would have just eaten the $27.00 and got a refund of the entire remaining purchase, but, in principle...yes, go ahead and review the tape because at this point, I am not giving you $27.00!!! Needless to say about :30 later we got our money because the error was theirs. Brick and Mortar stores can beat online shopping if they do things the right way...but at this point, I hope Zemsky's goes belly-up. read more

Let's start with they are prejudice of black people. My teenage daughter work there one week and they told her when blacks come in watch them because they steal. Next I give them the benefit of the doubt and go in with my husband and sin (whom happen to be black) for work uniforms. We are both Registered Respiratory Therapist. They said no mask you can't enter. I explain we are all vaccinated and they said still no mask you can't enter. Of course I left!! I stopped into the Beverly location randomly to window shop. I have 2 kids in school uniforms and really just wanted to check out the offerings/prices. My kids' school already has a uniform program established thru another store. Sooo, 45 mins later I walked out with 4 bottoms for each kid, a lunch pack, some Melissa & Doug learning tools, a new Afro puff hair clamp and a promise to return after the summer. Uniforms can be boring but Zemsky's offered various styles in the pant/skirt color required by our school and the prices were about 50% less than using the school's suggested uniform store. read more

First time here during the back to school rush. A lot of friendly sales people on the floor but the prices were higher than they made it seem... I ended up going to Cititrends same brands but at a much lower price. Although I would still recommend this place because I like the customer service and it's one stop back to school shopping but I got three and those prices add up lol read more

That is the junkiest, most unorganized store with a store policy of using their hand sanitizer. That suggests they have issues with sanitation apparently. I was told I could stand by the entry door and someone could help me the if I didn't use it. I was masked, am a healthcare provider and in while they don't check for COVID vaccine they want you to use their sanitizer. NEVER will I patronize such stupidity! read more

This is a really interesting store on the south siiide. The PussyCart Dolls went there today primarily to buy overalls for our upcoming Chiditarod race. Funny thing is, not only can you buy all kinds of work wear there (nurses, mechanics etc take note) but they also have some other interesting stuff and it's CHEAP!! I ended up buying my Dickies overalls for $29 and then a great coat that is going to be super warm and super stylin' since we all know Chicago isn't done with winter just yet!! The coat was reduced to $35 from $80 - STEAL!! Also picked up some cute gloves and a scarf for under $5. We didn't really have time to browse but this place definately had some interesting finds!! read more

So, my friend Sarah Jayne (below) always has this habit of beating me to the punch and being the "first to review" stuff. Darn her!!! Dirty, dirty .....(beautiful...dirty dirty rich) But....I digress! The only reason the Dolls went to Zemsky's was to pick up coveralls for our upcoming shopping cart race / costume event. -But, it's actually a pretty cool store. Very "Discovery-esque." I got a really cute South Pole T-shirt (which is like the knock off of Baby Phat) with the city skyline on it for $17.98. I also picked up a really chic pair of Isotoner winter boots for $44. My friends were so happy with this purchase, as they were embarrassed by my dirty white 1980's moon boots I had been wearing all day. So I ditched the MTV Moon-man look and rocked my new fashionable boots...oh yeah! This place is worth checking out if you need to get any work clothes or uniforms and are in the mood for a little fashion too! read more

This place will bring you back in time as far as what types of items they carry. They still have house coats and aprons as well as rainhats! They also have the largest supply of school uniforms! They always have the uniforms for my son as well as the work gear for my husband. Let's not forget the prices! You cannot beat this place! I like to support small businesses whenever I can. But I have to admit that Amazon and LL Bean had better prices, customer service and faster shipping. My order arrived 4 days after Christmas with one item cancelled. And their prices were higher. Come on Zemsky's you can do better, give me a reason to want to shop again. read more

My 3 sons needed uniform shirts for school, and the company that the school recommends is really expensive. So I took to the internet and saw that Zemskys beat the price by $5 per shirt. Delighted, I placed an order for 3 shirts. A couple days later, I received a call from a representative stating that I neglected to put part of my address on the order during the checkout process. I apologized, provided the missing info and all seemed to be well. Two days after that, I received a confirmation from Zemskys, with all the appropriate info. Problem was, I got another confirm from USPS saying that my order was shipping to a city with the same name, but in a state in another part of the country. Although it was a Sunday, i called expecting to leave a message - a gentleman answers. I greet, and state my name - he interrupts to tells me my order has shipped. I politely inform him that I am aware that it's shipping, but the USPS address is totally wrong - he interrupts again, to tell ME that I'm incorrect. He then hastily puts me on hold (before he further embarrasses himself), and returns to the phone to dryly and unapologetically tell me that "they will get it corrected." Honest and cost-conscious opinion? Spend a few more dollars with another company that will appreciate and respect your business and your role as a customer. I certainly will in the future. read more
