One Star Isn't Low Enough - A Cautionary Tale for Any REAL Parent Who Cares About Standards…read more Let me start by saying: if I could give ZERO stars to this disgrace of a so-called "Little League organization," I WOULD, and it would still be too generous. I signed my 8-year-old son, Aiden-Jaxson, up for the Spring season of the [Fictional Town] Little League thinking it would be a wholesome, character-building experience. Instead, it turned into an absolute NIGHTMARE that I wouldn't wish upon my WORST ENEMY. First of all, the coaching? Utterly amateur. Coach "Todd" (if that's even his real name) seemed more interested in drinking his off-brand energy drink and flirting with the snack shack lady than actually coaching. I timed it--he spent a full 11 minutes talking to her while our children (our precious angels, mind you) were just standing in the outfield picking dandelions and asking if it was snack time yet. Disgraceful. Is this what we're paying our "registration fee" for? Because I expect at least semi-professional guidance. If I wanted chaos and low standards, I would've let Aiden-Jaxson play backyard Wiffle Ball with the neighbor's weird twins. Let's talk about the games. Or should I say trials by fire. The umpires were clearly biased (I suspect some kind of relationship with Coach Todd, just saying). Every time MY SON stepped up to bat, it was strike this, strike that--while little Brayden got to walk to first base for simply existing. I brought it up to the league manager (who looked like she hasn't smiled since the 90s), and she told me to "let the kids have fun." Excuse me, fun? I didn't spend $175 on fees, $60 on a glove, $35 on a monogrammed bat bag, and THREE Saturday afternoons at Dick's Sporting Goods so Aiden-Jaxson could be dismissed like that. Oh, and don't even get me started on the snacks. I specifically signed up to bring snacks ONCE, and somehow I was "randomly" assigned three times. As if I have time to be baking gluten-free, dye-free, nut-free, sugar-free, soy-free cupcakes for 12 kids I barely know! And yet, when I forgot the organic juice boxes ONE time, I got a passive-aggressive email from "Team Mom" Monica reminding everyone about "commitments." I saw you, Monica, feeding your kid red-dye-filled fruit snacks straight from the vending machine. Don't preach to me about commitments. And the other parents? Don't even get me started. They act like it's some social club. I came here to SUPPORT MY SON'S ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT, not to chit-chat about Pinterest crafts or discuss kombucha brewing methods on the sidelines. I asked a simple question about how many home runs the kids had collectively, and someone LAUGHED. LAUGHED. As if competition isn't the point of sports. Unbelievable. Bottom line: this league is a mess. From the unprofessional coaching, to the clearly rigged umpiring, to the absolute lack of concern for parental burnout (which is VERY REAL), I will not be returning. And neither will Aiden-Jaxson. He's taking tennis lessons now. MUCH more refined sport. DO BETTER. This isn't just "kids being kids"--this is our FUTURE. Shame on you, [Fictional Town] Little League. Shame.
