While my parents introduced me to a family friend who was a real estate agent, I had no idea how to go about finding a loan officer! After digging through Yelp/Google, I stumbled upon Meridox Mortgage that had stellar reviews and took a chance. I called Meridox and was put in touch with Trung Tran. I let him know that I didn't have any knowledge of how the house-buying process works, but he was incredibly supportive and assured me he would walk me through every step. Shortly after we finished talking on the phone, he sent me a list of items to provide for the pre-approval letter. Trung's turnaround was quick. I sent him my information in the evening and got the letter the next morning. My real estate agent used this letter to draft the offer...it was accepted! After my offer was accepted, the rest of the process was somewhat nebulous, but my real estate agent worked closely with Trung to help me through. Trung was with me every step of the way. He patiently explained how my monthly mortgage payment and closing costs were calculated and even helped me negotiate a home insurance offer. He even kept a close eye on the market and advised me when I should lock in the rate. I thought home buying would be more stressful, but it wasn't as bad as I thought because Trung made every step clear and was very on top of deadlines. From pre-approval to loan closing, it took just one month! Thank you Trung for being so diligent and patient in helping me secure my dream home! He is honest, direct, extremely talented with "the numbers," and most importantly, he genuinely wants to help people. As a testament to this, by Tim's own advice, my husband and I ended up getting a loan from an entirely different lender! I was very impressed with Tim's honesty when he identified that a particular bank had access to a rate and rebate package (due to that bank's partnership with the builder) that he simply couldn't offer. Even then, that didn't stop him from giving us great financial advice. There is no question in my mind that we would not have been able to afford our house if it were not for Tim. He spent a great deal of time listening to us and educating us on how if we restructured our borrowing strategy, we could access rates and lower fees that somehow none of the other lenders were telling us about. When you speak with Tim, you can tell his mind is running at maximum strength, coming up with ways to save you money - not just at the closure of Escrow, but months and even years later. It was like watching one of those expert Rubik's cube solvers. Again, we did not ultimately end up getting our loan from Tim and the HLC Team at Cornerstone Home Lending, but the service we received there was just so outstanding and beyond our expectations, we just had to write something.
