Amazing menu selection! These service was incredible and the Ambiance was the perfect mix of peaceful and lively!

This was our third visit because we are excited for this type of space in Johnston and want it to be successful BUT we haven't had a good experience yet. The whole concept is cool - rooftop, outdoor seating, sports bar and Johnston's in need of this, but sadly they still need to work on some things (after 4 months being open). Once on the rooftop we waited 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and there was a sign saying see hostess for seating - no hostess to be seen and the four people (bartender and three servers that we saw) saw us but continued to walk past. It was not busy - maybe four tables of people so that wasn't an excuse, and when someone finally came over they told us to sit wherever.... Problem: very few tables were cleared. We found one against the wall and sat. The server came and asked for our drink orders and we asked for water and menus and time. She brought the menus and after a few minutes came back for our orders. We put in drink orders and asked for nachos (guacamole and pico on the side because of allergies) and cheese curds. She brought the water and drinks and while we waited for the food, the bartender came over and told us he was lowering the shade which would hit our table so we would have to change tables (still no cleared tables mind you) or move our table and chairs in further. He helped us scoot the table and we moved our chairs... I really was regretting giving the place another chance at this point. (Two previous trips we had poor service, cold food and burnt food). We had been the there about 30 minutes and the cheese curds came out - they were perfectly browned and crispy and the chipotle dipping sauce is delicious... but they had been sitting somewhere and were not as hot as fresh cheese curds should be. Still tasted good and we were hungry but disappointing. Plates were brought out about 5 minutes later and we expected the nachos to follow... how long can nachos take? The sever didn't check on us or our food order and about five minutes later as we finished the curds came to remove our plates which were actually clean because we hadn't received our nachos yet and the plates came after we'd already been eating the curds. We told her we needed them for the nachos which hadn't come yet (now 45-50 minutes after we put in our order). She didn't apologize or check on the nachos and went about to other tables. Over an hour after putting in our order a runner came to the table with the trashcan nachos, dumped them in the tray and took off like she couldn't disappear quick enough. The nachos were not very warm (seasoned ground beef, queso... lukewarm warm at best) but we had waited over an hour for nachos and were very disappointed already so we ate and when the server saw we were done, she brought the tab, we paid and left. It was our third disappointing experience and at this point I'm not sure if we'll go back again, it's been four months and we keep hoping things will get better, but you can only give so many "second chances" and we've already given three. For two beer, and two appetizers the bill came to nearly $50 (without the tip) which is quite steep for our experience overall. read more

The patio area is really nice here. It's large, modern and covered. All the food we had was very mediocre. The chips weren't very good, my burger tasted burnt. My husband was also unimpressed with the food and we we decided to go elsewhere for dessert. read more

New restaurant in Johnston. The rooftop was not open yet, but we sat on the patio and the atmosphere was nice. Our waitress was bubbly and nice and she had good banter. Sadly, the food was not great. The spinach and artichoke dip was a weird grainy texture and it was lukewarm. We ordered cheeseburgers and a pizza and none of it had much flavor. The cocktails were delicious though. So I will definitely go back for drinks, just not food. read more

Went to Zeke's after hearing amazing reviews and my family and I had a horrible experience. We went on a Tuesday at 5pm, a total of probably 10 people in the restaurant. I had brought our baby and toddler with me and our server never brought a high chair or a kids menu until I asked. Our server had a blank face and never even introduced herself to us. It wasn't until after we got our appetizers she brought out our appetizer plates. Food was cold and bland. Ended up getting the kids quesadillas with fries(cold), kids Mac and cheese which tasted nothing like cheese, more like milk and butter. The spicy chicken sandwich was dry, and the Zeke's burger was dry and bland. All of our fries or soggy and cold. Our bill was $75 and we will not return again. Most of the servers look to be in their teen/young 20s and lack a lot of of training it seems. read more

I don't usually post on yelp but I feel honor bound. I have eaten here 5 times in the past 2 months. The food and the service has been exceptional. I am extremely happy we have this restaurant in Des Moines. The rooftop is a great place to have a drink. read more

Mediocre beer list, great roof top...seriously no happy hour?? No wonder only 50% full at 5pm on a sunny warm night...

A few kinks need to be worked out. We arrived at 5:40 and we placed on the wait list. 10 minutes later we were seated. We had drinks already from the bar. Between requesting water, ordering apps, entrees and the check for the four of us we finally left at 7:50. I would expect this amount of time at a leisurely, fine dining restaurant. But this is a casual dining restaurant. Our waiter was struggling with checking in on us. Tables around us were being turned over quickly. On a positive note. Terrible prices and small portions. I had lunch today at the upper bar. $10 a piece for two mini 6 oz drinks and $13 for 7 tator tots. Bill was $35. Never again! read more

I'm sitting in Zeke's right now and I have to say, not impressed. First off, we ordered a canadian club to drink, bartender said they were out. We then ordered members mark, to which the response was, "we're out". I finally got up and pointed out the bottle to the bartender and waitress, who was surprised that they had MEMBERS MARK. On the way out, I also found their bottle of Canadian Club, which was sitting by the Members Mark..sigh. Bartender could use some help. Pizza was on point. Unfortunately their mac n cheese was bland, with minimal sauce, like they were rationing. Their burger was over cooked and looked like a premade patty. The best part of the entire night was our waitress who has only been here for 2 days. She was fabulous! Unfortunately, the food and bartending need a little tweaking. Everyone just seemed...lost. They have kids working that were running food and drinks. We had multiple employees come by our table asking if we had ordered the drink or food they had in hand, which we did not. Just seems like minimal oversight taking place. Honestly, the onky thing rhat MIGHT carry this place is the rooftop bar. Best of luck to them! read more
