I work for a non-profit which hired Zebrascapes to perform bi-weekly maintenance on their property. We paid a large sum upfront to have the property cleaned up, so that they could then "maintain" it from there. From the beginning we had issues with the landscapers mowing the dog yards, which were the primary component of our bid and maintenance needs, but the office staff was typically quick to help with resolutions. Three full months (6 maintenance visits) into the year and our dog and agility yards have not been mowed once. We spoke to both the landscapers and office staff in an attempt to have the yards mowed and they refused to do so, stating we would need a new bid. The grass is nearly 2 foot tall in the areas that should be maintained, as outlined in the original maintenance contract. We opted to terminate service and now Zebrascapes has refused to rectify the situation, as they previously stated they would. They had very good communication. They listened to how I wanted the pavers that I had done. In front of my garage and front pillar to the porch. I also had pavers placed next to our patio enclosure in the backyard. They came out prior to start with the job manager to go over what we wanted to ensure everyone was on the same page. DON'T USE ZebraScapes in Prescott, the Quad Areas or anywhere else! My residential water Charge was $1,103.91 for just ONE month after their so-called "service"! The ZebraScapes technician came over in April 2025 to turn on my irrigation system for the summer months, just as I have hired them to do over the past 3 years. I specifically told the technician to only water for one hour at three times per week. He said that he understood. Turns out their "technician" did not activate my irrigation system properly, and he left the water supply valve COMPLETELY open, so that it ran 24/7 all month long. My monthly water bill, which is normally about $200 per month for the summer months (about $90 for the winter months, for reference), was an astounding $1,103.91 dollars for one month of water! I sent ZebraScapes an email notifying them of their technician's error the first week of May (the 8th as I recall). It has been several weeks now since I sent the email, and ZebraScapes has not responded. It is obvious that they ignored my email are simply ghosting me. To their credit, they sent over a different technician the same day that I called them after receiving an emergency email from the water company about the excessive water use. This different technician (Seth) from ZebraScapes, identified the problem in less than 5 minutes. He showed me a video on his cell phone of how the main system valve was fully open, and thus, wasting water 24/7. I expect that ZebraScapes has conveniently lost this video. ZebraScapes is clearly a dis-reputable company that hires UNQUALIFIED technicians who are completely untrained. I highly recommend finding other businesses that are reputable. Note, I don't expect them to reimburse me the $900 for excessive water use caused by their inept technician who activated my irrigation system in April Can any one recommend a reputable lawn care service? My property is small, about 1/6th of an acre, and only has a few plants and is completely xeriscaped. Thanks! read more

I recently had ZebraScapes do a pre and post emergent treatment and we had a bit of an issue with the detailing after the spraying. I was travelling when it was done and it was Saturday when I returned home. I was a bit concerned and send an email to the company which was closed but I received a call back within 30 minutes. I was happily surprised as a technician (Luis who was amazing) showed up in an hour and my yard was beautiful in short order. The owner was great to work with and again, so was Luis who made sure I was happy with the refurbishment. Warning to all who may use Father & Daughter Construction for an AUD or remodel project. I just had an estimator for a remodel/addition job come to my home for an guestimate/estimate (by the way he was late and did not apologize). I literally began to tell this estimator about the job while still outside the home. He stops me and advises me that it will be $6,000.00 (Yes 6K) for permits, plans and drafting before they can give me an ESTIMATE. This estimator said that "this is how all the contractors do it". I had Zebra come out for a tree removal due to heavy winds a few weeks ago that split a locust tree down the middle. I contacted 4 landscapers and Zebra was by far the most prompt and professional. They were actually able to service me earlier than originally planned and were done very quickly. They were thorough but careful - the tree was surrounded by three large bushes which they were able to avoid. They took out the tree, ground the stump and cleaned the area thoroughly. Sprayed front yard and within days lots of weeds began to grow. It seems like they water down the chemical treatment and it encourages growth - So my wife and pulled weeds out by hand - guess what? With Ralphael we experienced excellent follow up and communication throughout the project, and what I found to be a competitive price. A tech, Rodney, came out to give me an estimate and I revealed that I knew nothing about landscaping but thought that $40.000. was high. He then proceeded to insult me by telling me that I think landscapers are just a bunch of "scum bags" and that he wasn't even going to stop at my house because I thought a previous bid was too high. He then asked how much I paid for my RV and said that if I bought a high priced home then what the hell is $40,000. He was the most rude person I have ever had at my home. If you deal with the public you need to make sure to keep your rude ass comments to yourself and be professional. I really am flabbergasted at how awful this man was. I hired ZebraScapes to trim 2 trees. A large locust and a small pear tree. To make a long story short, we were not satisfied with the work as it was not complete. Water sprouts were missed on both trees. Several larger branches that were headed towards neighboring properties were not trimmed at all, which was the primary reason for trimming the locust tree. It seemed as if the crew was not properly informed about the details of this job. I sent multiple emails to have my concerns addressed which were completely ignored. I withheld final payment hoping that this would spur a response, even if the response was, we did job, pay the bill, lady. Instead, I received complete silence. I did pay the bill and still, days later, no follow up. Sadly, I will not be a repeat customer nor can I recommend Zebrascapes. read more

Great work, Zebrascapes. We have worked with Zebrascapes 3 times this past year. First we had our aspen trees sprayed; then we had a dead 40 foot ponderosa pine tree removed and lastly we had them finish a small area of riprap which was high on a steep slope in our back yard. Each time they were very professional, from the bidding and follow-up, to the scheduling and the work itself. Each time, they left the yard just as clean as before they started. After a home inspection showed some moisture underneath our house the inspector advised french drains would be the best way to correct the problem. We contacted Zebrascapes and Rich Killeen came out to look over the area and took pictures of it. After a consult in his office the project was started on time and completed in one day. The men who worked were polite. No loud hollering, no bad language. It was a super hot day but they only took a few breaks. we could see them from our windows and my husband went out a couple of times to check on them. When they were finished you could not tell where the drains had been installed because they layered our landscaping colored rock back where it had been. Don't bother calling and setting up an appointment for them to come out, they won't show up. I called them and made an appointment for their arborist to come out and assess my trees and give me a price to perform the work required to maintain their health or correct their health problems. The appointment was for between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, by 11:55 AM no one had shown up or called so I called them to find out what was up, I was unable to talk to anybody so I left a voice mail for them to call me back. We have been good, patient customers for a few years now but we are done now, and this is why. A few years back, our neighbor recommended Zebrascapes to us as we wanted to have some paver steps installed in our backyard. We thought the cost was a bit high but decided to go with them anyway. After the steps were installed we were pleased at first and asked them to come in and do a yard clean up and then get onto a monthly maintenance program. Again, the initial clean up was a bit pricey and this time we felt that we didn't get exactly what we paid for so I called and asked if the crew could come out and finish up. A few weeks later, a crew did show up and did just ok. Next, we set up our monthly maintenance and this is where things got sideways. Those paver steps that were installed began to fail because there wasn't any compaction. I had asked the maintenance crew to try and fix them and they did the best they could but were unsuccessful so I called the office. Some supervisor came out and fed us a line of crap about how they were going to need to pull most of them up and re set them but because we were out of our warranty it was going to cost around $1500.00. Wait? What!!! We ended up having a more reputable company come out to fix them and that only cost us $250.00. No more problems. Each time the maintenance crew would come out, it would be different and my wife and I would need to walk the property with them and explain to them how to do their job. I would call the office and a "Supervisor" would come out and give us lip service and things would be ok for a bit. This last spring, Zebrascapes sent out their pre emergent truck to come out and spray but the problem this time was there was 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and the tech only spent 15 minutes on our property. When we called and said something that time, we were told that the snow would help activate the chemical and the reason the tech was there for the short amount of time was because he had run out of chemical and would be back to finish up. After waiting another several weeks, he never did so my wife sent an email canceling service. We received a call from yet another person claiming to be the new maintenance supervisor and he asked us how he could help us. At that point, we were done. An hour later there's a knock on our door and it's this new supervisor. He apologized for just stopping by but he said that he just wanted to hear our concern. We explained to him our rocky relationship with Zebrascapes from the paver steps to the rotating crews to the shoddy maintenance work and now our yard that has been overrun with weeds because the tech sprayed in the snow and ran out of chemical. Oh, we also mentioned that he was now the third or fourth, we stopped counting, supervisor we've had to deal with. He was very apologetic and understanding and asked if we could give him a chance to make things right. Reluctantly, we agreed. The first thing that happened was he sent a crew out to get rid of all the weeds on our property. Next, he sent out the spray tech to re spray our yard that took about an hour and a half. We weren't charged for this extra work. When the crew would come out, he would show up to make sure the work we were paying for was getting done. All was great and we were happy customers, Up until recently. We have had different crews again and have noticed the quality has reverted back to the way it was. We tried calling the supervisor and have talked with someone who doesn't seem to know much. My wife called the office only to not have our phone calls returned. When the crew came out last week, I went out to talk to them before they attempted to drive off only to be told that they were out of time, they were only there 15 minutes, and if I had wanted to purchase more time, to call the office and ask for Tom. I asked where the supervisor was and he said that he didn't work there anymore and that there was a new guy but he didn't know too much and the owner was trying to train him. So, we are done! The continuing revolving door should have been our first clue about this fly by night company. Doesn't say much for a business if they can't retain good employees. If you like crap work at an high price and zero communication along with new people to deal with every month, Zebrascapes is for you!! Trust me, there are far better landscape companies out there. Our HOA retained the Zebras to perform monthly landscape maintenance of the common areas and front yards of the 59 properties in our community. Not only was their bid amazingly competitive, their work far exceeds that of any other landscape contractor we have used over many years' time. (I am on the board of the HOA.) Recently their specialized firewise cleaning crew cleared a 1.5 acre of vacant "wildland". Three men worked their tails off for 3-4 days, all day long. And at quitting time they were still smiling, polite and pleasant to the neighbors. And, they went above and beyond by clearing more area than required by our contract. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. In fact, I just entered into a personal contract with Zebrascapes to landscape my own backyard. The estimator offered up some design ideas that I loved and accepted, and the price is fair and reasonable. If waffling between proposals or trying to decide if you should hire a certain landscape contractor, hesitate no more. These guys are the best in the area, by far! read more

Here we are in April and my Christmas lights still are not done. The office staff at this juncture has to be thoroughly embarrassed that nobody is finishing the job despite being paid. Had to call an electrician to see why my lights were shorting out only to find out they threw the lights in the gutter and they were shorting out due to moisture. I give up, do not pay this company if the job is not done. Paid $3,500 and making sure they complied was like pulling teeth. The drainage ditch in front of our guest house was to be cleared. When questioned they told me it was done but it is obviously not. Could not check in light of my having two knees replaced along with a hip and was laid up in recovery. Expected gravel to be added to my RV overflow drive way. In the past I was always willing to pay more money for Zebrascapes because I assumed I was never going to have to worry about the quality of their work; I was mistaken. I recently asked them for a bid on adding additional artificial turf in the back yard. Zebrascapes came in at 2.5 x's a competitor's bid, so this time I went with the lesser priced contractor. In the process of adding the new grass, the new contractor unearthed the "drainage system" Zebrascapes installed (photograph attached...this is exactly as they found it). I called Zebrascapes to ask what they were thinking. They stated this system supposedly works where the water saturates my backyard, eventually the water backs up so high that it makes it over the top of the grate, and then from the box it supposedly flows upstream through corrugated pipe (as can be seen in the photo) and then theoretically off the property. The only answer Zebrascapes had as to why they opted for their non-functional, upstream contraption was, "It had to be done that way because your driveway is too high". Zebrascapes actually charged me above the agreed upon price for this. Zebrascapes denied any responsibility, and stated it was just another contractor "badmouthing them". In fact, this contractor said nothing negative about Zebrascapes, they simply pointed out the obvious; it would have been unethical for them to do otherwise. The new contractor removed what Zebrascapes had done and installed a proper drainage system. When all was said and done, the new contractor installed the additional artificial turf, redid my entire drainage system, and added a decorative paver border all for 35% less than Zebrascapes quoted me just to install the artificial turf. read more

Overall, I am happy with the work provided on our backyard project. The project quote and estimate was done by a young man that clearly needs more supervision and/or work. We had to negotiate and he went with our counter proposal after several back and forths. Part of the initial walk through was a request for a 1 ton delivery of stone to fill in empty spots in the front AND backyard- this never happened and was a missed opportunity on their part. The 2 men who showed up to do the digging phase for our paver work were good workers-no complaints. The sub-contractor that did the paver insatlation were outstanding!!! 3 men did the work of 5!!! I couldn't give them enough praise. There was terrific talent in the cutting of pavers to fit tight spots and was done with a large powered hand saw!!! The clean up the next day was done by the original 2 men and they did a fine job. The forman showed up once to survey the project before it started and painted lines and directions on the ground. Other than that, he was a no show. I would have thought he would have showed up at the end to ask if anything needed improvement, comments, questions, follow up? NOTHING!!! read more

As part of a larger project on our property (to me it is large and expensive - $30k and $7k went towards a fence. The fence is only 44" tall and covers a side yard. Work on the fence alone took 3 weeks. I'm not exaggerating. I understand Zebrascapes had a tough time finding workers during COVID and I was very patient; as long as the work was done properly. Four months and one monsoon later the fence fell apart. Not nearly slats falling off, although there was plenty of that, ENTIRE SECTIONS. Called the company, sent video to the foreman. The foreman came right out and said it would be fixed. Another week went by without contact then my dogs got out of the yard. I called the office and the foreman, again, providing pictures of the damage. Zebrascapes sent two guys (well, today it's only one) and they've been working steadily rebuilding the entire fence. However, the slats are being reused and some are split. The fence post is cracked and split. The poor worker bee apologized, but no one from the company, I mean no one has ever called or emailed. I was very impressed on the professionalism I received from my initial call, to when Rodney came out to go over our project. Rodney was great to communicate with every step of the way. We decided to go with Zebrascapes over two other companies due to their more reasonable costs and estimated start time, the project was done in only two weeks. Rodney even dealt with the HOA on approvals for our project. Jessie was our project foreman. He was good to work with and understood what we wanted done. Their work crews for the most part are solid and strive to appease the property owner. Once the project was finished I met with Rodney for the once over. I have about 1/2 acre of land that needed to be cleared of scrub oak and a lot of tall grass that needed to be cut, and then spray the entire area to kill the grass. I got two estimates from different companies. ZebraScapes said they could do the job in two days with three guys for $1500. Instead of using a chipper to reduce the brush to manageable size, they hauled out the brush nearly intact - and it took several trips in a small truck. Very inconvenient for the workers and a time waster. ZebraScapes told me that they don't have a chipper, but use a smokeless burner for larger jobs. The workers put in a full first day and quit after only six hours on the second day. They cleaned up after themselves very nice. What didn't get done: several scrub oaks and several very dead Junipers were still standing. The grass that needed to be cut was merely trimmed and not all of it was cut. I had left specific instructions to NOT cut anything that wasn't scrub oak, and one large tree was cut down. After paying the $1500, I was hit with another bill for, get this, Dumb and Labor expenses. I'm sure they meant Dump and not Dumb. However, I also told them that I would NOT pay more than the $1500 before the job was finished and that I expected to get what was talked about. I was then told that the $1500 was an estimate, not a quote. It is my fault for not getting a quote instead of an estimate, and I should have gotten everything in writing up front. I would NOT use ZebraScapes again, nor would I recommend them. If you do want to use ZebraScapes, get a firm quote in writing up front with a detailed work order that clearly spells out what to do and when to get it done by. read more

Sold a wood chipper to this company that was rebuilt, and have documentation of receipts, and affidavit from diesel mechanic who did the work. Despite this, the chipper was sold, as is, in running condition. Within a few hours of use the employees mistakenly left the cold start system on, and overheated the engine, caused major internal damage, and wasted all the effort and money that was put into the machine in order to make it run like it did. They immediately turned and blamed me, called me liar many times over, and wrote vicious lies about me, and the equipment on multiple reviews for my tree company Google and Yelp. They even enlisted the help of their secretary to lie and say she bought a chipper from me and it was bad as well. Check it out on Google, A-Alpha Tree Company. The wife wrote two reviews, and the secretary did one as well. All in the underhanded, childish, idea of using the review system as leverage for smearing my name because of their own inadequacies at training their employees to properly use equipment they purchased. I am now in contact with an attorney's office currently in order to sue for Defamation as a result of this. We are a Christian Based Business, and to have these people perpetrate lies and untruths about our honesty and integrity will not be tolerated, and is not acceptable. I am sure they will respond here with more lies and deceit, and that is fine. It will all come out in the end, and the retainer for the attorney is a drop in the bucket once a court of law hears this case. If these people, during an issue, no matter what it is, treat others the way they have treated me. Then they do not deserve anyone's business, and buyer beware.
