Truly a wonderful weekend with luxury lodging and shopping to experience. Our normal vacation would be skiing out West (U.S. - I'm an American), so this company-purpose visit was unusual for us. It's also very unusual for me to shop in a store where a coat runs $5,000, yet there I was. I was drawn to the store by a dress displayed in our hotel lobby, and spent far more time browsing the racks than I'd imagined, given the exclusive nature of the store. I was dressed semi-dressy - with white capris and a colorful tunic - so I wasn't in T-shirt and jeans. Had I been, I imagine my comfort level would have been lower however I don't believe the salesladies would have been any less helpful and inviting. I drew in an audible breath when I saw the $5,000 coat (actually $4,500 but when you throw in all the Canadian taxes it may as well be $5,000). I didn't gasp because of the price, but because of the beauty of the cashmere and artistic yet classic neckline. Had it not been 4 sizes too small for me I'm certain the saleslady would have helped me try it on. About 1/2 of the store was on sale - and there were significant discounts, although I can't quote a specific percentage as there were no signs shouting "40% off!!!" -- but I'd estimate that was close. Because of the welcoming atmosphere I was able to examine cuts and fabrics - and now know that Max Mara = quality classics that are fashionable. I may not be able to shop retail/current season - but I will not hesitate to seek this brand through other ways (e.g. Online sales.)

We visit it quite often not only here in Toronto but I have to say that by far the best shopping experience was in Max Mara Toronto in bloor street. Our consultant was called Maria. She was so helpful, warm and kind. She had great taste and was always on the lookout for something that would suit us. We ended up buying 5 items that we absolutely loved. The staff there generally was very welcoming and supportive. They were all there to give their opinion on the clothes we were trying on and were honest about them. We left feeling very satisfied. The quality and style of the items were unmatchable and we were very pleased. I would recommend this store to anyone who isn't on a budget as MaxMara is more on the pricy side. But I will surely go back again. Simply amazing

Located in Yorkville (across from Anthropologie which I think is owned by the same company…read moreanyways), this store has a downstairs (separate entrance) where the lingerie, shapers and some pjs are kept. I did love some of the bras - they were just unique and sexy and just beautiful. And expensive....one bra I really loved was $88. I just couldn't justify it. I didn't see one bra that had any padding - mostly all sheer which is unfortunate because if you aren't blessed in the chest department I don't think they would look as well as compared to someone who could fill it out. Go outside and then upstairs is where the clothing is. Located on 2 levels it of course has the feel of Anthropologie and similar pricing. This week they have 30% off their sale items. Some jewelry, shoes but mostly clothes I wasn't that impressed by the clothing. I more so loved the lingerie. If you have any sexy time coming up (Valentines Day??!) and just want something that makes you feel lovely then definitely check out their bras.

*** PLEASE READ IN FULL - WARNING TO CONSIGNORS ***…read more If you are considering consigning items, just be mindful to exercise due diligence, especially with Eva, the owner. I do not want others to experience what happened to me. Back in January 2016, I brought in a Furla bag, some Coach bags, a lot of pairs of designer jeans (many were brand new with tags), a new pair of Brian Atwood boots and a gorgeous, new Laundry by Shelli Segal black leather motorcycle jacket that was buttery soft. The bags sold quickly but the other items lingered around for a while. Eva told me just to keep everything there because they were high-end items and would eventually sell. Some of the jeans were listed on average $85.00 a pair but, contrary to the agreement, my cut ended up only being about $12.00 a pair. When I inquired, I was told that the jeans in question were put on clearance. Regardless, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and continued to leave my items there. In early October, I emailed Eva to advise that I no longer wanted my boots and leather jacket available for sale; however, there was no response. Three days later, I received notification that she sold my boots for $18.00. Again, I gave her the benefit of the doubt but decided to send her another email requesting again that she refrain from selling my leather jacket - no answer. Then I called and Eva's daughter answered but could not get me off the phone fast enough as she claimed the store was so busy. I told her I was on my way to pick up my leather jacket but she reluctantly agreed, saying that it normally takes 48 hour for her to pull it. Anyway, my two friends and I went straight over and we noticed Eva's daughter could not make eye contact with me. Instead, she went down to the basement for about three minutes and then advised that, because the jacket had been there since January, they donated it to charity and, apparently, that was part of the "agreement." I was upset but I figured if I did not thoroughly read the agreement then I was obviously at fault. My friends and I continued to look around the store and noticed almost all my jeans were still upstairs. When we went to the basement, we noticed a few more pairs and then became suspicious. Why would my leather jacket be donated to charity and not the jeans? I called Eva a few days later expressing my concerns. She too could not get me off the phone fast enough. Later that night, she called me back to advise that the jacket was stolen and, because she (not me) was at a loss, would only reimburse me $33.00; albeit, the jacket was listed for $298.00. She said she put the jacket down in the basement in clearance for 75% off and still took a cut for my item being stolen. In addition, I have never seen any new with tags leather jackets down in the basement! A few days later, I was notified that I only got $4.00 for a pair of my brand new with tags 7 for All Mankind jeans. I immediately called to have the account closed and arranged to pick up my stuff. When I arrived, one of the sales women (who was quite genuine) could not find it. I called Eva a few days later and, rather than take responsibility for everything that went wrong, she put blame on her staff. Nice. What upsets me the most is that I referred friends to Eva and initially spoke very highly of her. The fact that she chose greed over maintaining a good relationship is disgusting. The bottom line is that although I have no proof that she was involved in the theft of my jacket and was selling items under the guise of them being discounted to rock-bottom prices, isn't the writing on the wall? I would not be surprised if her store was eventually featured on Pat Foran's segment on CTV News.

It's a nice little space, tastefully decorated with a well-edited selection. The store skews towards women, but they're an exclusive carrier of terrific Le Labo bath products, which was my sole reason for visiting. I've patronized my share of high-end shops, but this place seems to subscribe to the outdated notion that stuck-up somehow equates with exclusivity. I was the only customer in the tiny shop but still felt unwelcome and neglected by the Millennial staffer (I sincerely hope she wasn't the owner). She sized me up about my knowledge of Le Labo, did nothing to assess my needs and seemed utterly bored to know that I was making my purchase as an anniversary gift. The whole experience was just so awkward. Zero engagement, zero warmth. The kicker was when she started texting while ringing up my purchase. Management may want to invest in staff training. Was expecting much more.

I would like to, for the record, clarify, that I have never in my life left a review on Yelp…read morebefore. That being said, I felt it important to document the experience I had at 6 by Gee Beauty. I had never been in this shop before, but, as an avid fan of Le Labo products, wanted to drop-in and take a look. My first impression was that it is well organized. Since I was the only customer present, it was very calm (I assumed only one customer would be allowed in at a time due to the store being so small). The sole millennial blonde working there was texting on her phone as I entered and as I said hello she said "hi" in return. Her demeanour was palpably disinterested. It was clear she would really rather not be there. She was lackadaisical, generally, with a flat affect that seemed to suggest she felt she was above working in this position and would, frankly, prefer if customers would not show up so she could proceed with sitting down and doing whatever it was she was doing on her cell phone . I proceeded to tell her the exact product I was looking for. She found it and asked if it was a gift. I said it wasn't and she looked genuinely relieved to not have to gift wrap it. I then asked her about a series of products that I hadn't tried before as I was curious about their scent. She then proceeded to spray a number of these scents onto pieces of paper and then handed them to me. She didn't write down what any of them were, however, and, honestly, by the time I walked home and took them out of my bag, they all smelled the same. I had no way of knowing what was what. At a certain point I noticed someone standing in the doorway of the shop. Wondering if I was taking too long and holding up other customers I said "I'm sorry, I should hurry up here." To which she rolled her eyes and said "It's fine - it's just the cleaner". It's difficult to encapsulate the disdain with which she said this and it made me feel very uneasy. It was at this point I decided I would not be returning to this store. It was then I said I would like to take my product, pay, and be on my way - and THIS is the best part: She replies: "Fine, I can ring you up over here - for your ONE product - after ALL those testers." You know what, young lady? You have deplorable customer service. And worse than that, you are genuinely unkind. I spent $150 on a balm for myself, as a treat, because I am going through a really hard time at the moment. You made me feel small. You made me feel bad for the cleaner who you dismissed with such disdain as he stood in the cold. You made me feel bad for the business owner(s) of this establishment, who probably worked really hard to get this business up and running. I am certain this is not the kind of experience they envisioned for any of their customers. I sincerely hope you take some time to self-reflect and reconsider your behaviour moving forward. The way you conduct yourself is a disservice to the business and it is a disservice to yourself.
