Let me start by saying he is a knowledgable, true professional when it comes to martial arts. He has brought his training and practice to the next level in his women's kickboxing classes. The classes are small so it's more like personal training. Raanan works with every student to modify instruction where needed but also to make it challenging. He has helped me to not only reach my fitness goals, but exceed them. You will learn proper form, endurance, strength, and self defense training through his classes. Each class is different so it never gets boring but the one thing that never changes is that you'll always leave Zarko drenched in sweat! I have seen some wonderful results training at Zarko. I've noticed toned muscle groups I didn't even know existed, my flexibility and stamina dramatically increased, weight loss, and a stronger mind due to the challenges I've faced and conquered through training with Ranaan. I have been going to Zarko Academy for 4 years now and I don't regret joining. I had memberships at Crunch, New York Sports Club, Bally's and even my company's gym. After some months, I'd get bored then cancel the membership. I have not gotten bored yet working out at Zarko. The classes are always challenging and fun. Shihaan Ranaan is very qualified and has quite the personality. He can be strict but he wants his students to get the best workout possible. He is also funny and has a story about most things under the sun. LOL! The routines are rarely if ever identical. Sometimes missing a class means missing a routine that may not be repeated for months. Everyone works out at their individual levels and the students are great. Classes are generally small so no one gets left behind. The women's kickbox class is a total body workout...it doesn't forget any muscles. After 4 years, I have to say at the end of some classes, I feel like I just started taking the classes! Zarko Academy is a great place to workout. I started working out at Zarko Academy after the birth of my fourth child in 1998. I had a C-section and Shihan Raanan Zarko was very cautious of how hard to push and challenge me. My body got right back into shape, if not better than ever. I had run into a health obstacle five years later and it was due to the condition of my body that I bounced back so quickly. I owe that all to Zarko Academy. I love the fact that it is very challenging like boot camp classes, but it is fun as well. Shihan Raanan has a great personality and is very funny. All four of my sons attended his karate classes and learned about being focused and disciplined. This carries on through their lives today! My son has been going to zarko academy for a while already and has earned himself a red belt! He loves going to the karate classes and loves learning all the different defense moves. Shihan Raanan Zarko is an excellent teacher and is very good at what he does. He not only teaches the kids how to defend themselves, but also to be respectful to their elders and care for one another. He is strict and firm with everything that he teaches the kids, but also very caring and understanding to their individual needs. He encourages the kids to keep practicing the moves outside karate class and is always making sure everyone knows what's going on in the class. I am very happy and pleased with the work that my son has accomplished at this karate school. My son has been attending Zarko Academy for a little over a year. I enrolled him, because he was shy and I was worried that he would be a prime target for bullies. My fears went away, when I went to Zarko on a Friday and met Sempie Devon. He is patient, but firm with the kids. He takes the time to ensure that the kids are using proper form, even if this means he has to become a practice dummy and be on the receiving end of kicks and hits by the students. He gives real life examples of why martial arts are important and how it has changed him for the better. He always has the time to talk with any student who may be misbehaving at home or school. I've been working out regularly for over 20 years, and I've never had a better workout than I do at Zarko Academy. The women's cardio kickboxing is extremely challenging, but the instructors work with each student to modify based on their level of fitness and experience. The facility and classes are small, so it feels very personalized. Speaking as a 19 year old looking to get in shape while also learning self-defense, I found the right place for me. So I started here with Ranaan back in 2000 yes 18 years ago! I moved away to Florida in 07 and have just come back. One of the only things I looked forward to coming back was to workout here again. My transformation in 2000 was amazing! I never was able to replicate what I had here while I lived out of state. There is no other workout out there like this in my honest opinion. for the longest time I"ve been meaning to send my girls for self defence classes, I turned the world upside down looking for a good teacher, lo and behold he was right under my nose!
