Popcorn ceiling removal service was what I have received from Zarazua painting company and they did an excellent job for my place (1000sf-ish). I had total of 5 quotes from different places and I was the most impressed with Zarazua from the get go because they had the most comparable price with very clear service proposal in writing, thank you Erick! (not everyone had clear proposal nor clear price quotes in writing either). Not only that, they were the one who was the most sensitive with my tight schedule, adjusted their workload for me, I really appreciate that as well. I have so much great things to say about Zarazua's service: Alexander, the manager was beyond professional; he even mentioned the area we missed to address to work on (who does that?). We needed some interior paint and drywall work due to water damage and for a general refresh so we got estimates from a few local businesses. Zarazua wasn't the cheapest nor most expensive. Tips for working with them: - Communicate regularly and often. Prior to painting, I took the time to send my mocked-up photo visualizations, creating a computer-generated image based on the original (as-is) to illustrate exactly how I wanted the home to look. - This helped them to suggest paint colors and stains which aligned with my vision. - Along the way, there were indeed tweaks and modifications (i.e. changing the exterior trim color from Magic Black to Tricorn Black, showing the Garage painted Urban Bronze vs. Dovetail, etc) but showing exactly what was changed to the new result and confirming it verbally meant that our home turned out precisely how I had envisioned, even if there were minor changes along the way - As I made changes, I communicated them immediately, first to Erick, my sales contact, via cell or email, then to Mariam, Zarazua's incredible office coordinator, and additionally, to Jullian, the project supervisor - Particularly during the summer months, but at other times especially, OFFER THEM WATER! Of course, they would bring their own, but I felt as though it was the least I could do while they focused on painting over 2700 square feet of home. - They are more than just painters. When I mentioned the changing of nine light fixtures around the house, they booked an electrician, specialized and trained to change out the lights. rather than relying on me and a YouTube video. - Our renovation also included the removal of some overhanging cabinets, which opened up the room. The carpenter and I offered a few outcomes of how it would or could look, recommending not removing what he pointed out was a structural support beam in the process (thank goodness!) - This team is meticulous, but they are also willing to return and fix anything they may have missed after completing the job. This goes above and beyond customer service, in my opinion. - As a caution, remember that every job has its hiccups and original timelines can come with unexpected delays. I would recommend that if you are against a deadline, plan for a buffer time of 2-3 days just in case the job takes longer than expected. They are not the type of contractor to promise the work completed in a week and for it to take 3 weeks. However, depending on the level of color matching and touch-ups, the time it takes to do tasks outside of cleaning, etc, you may find that the timeline can stretch, which isn't that surprising. For example, my crew successfully and graciously removed all the contents of my garage, including shelves lined with bottles and cans of my own paint, to the center of the garage, simply because I ran out of time to do so. - I couldn't recommend this team and the experience working with them enough. I'm so glad that I picked Juan Zarazua and his crew to paint my house. It was a huge job (big house, lead abatement, lots of carpentry repair) and he produced fantastic results. When you live in an old house and you start one project, it has a crazy domino effect and other projects start to become necessary. I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with this family-owned company. The entire experience was flawless from beginning to end. The quote was simple- snap a few photos of your rooms, and the estimate is sent via email. They set a date, and arrived promptly at 8am to get started. Alexander and his team were terrific. Alexander helped me decide on the type of paint and sheen based on our needs. He told me how he has taken classes, and received certifications over the years to understand painting - from technique, to the anatomy of the paintbrush to the chemistry of the paint- and passed this knowledge to their staff. We had a big job and Yosgar, Lucy, Roxana, Miguel, Charlie, and Antonio all worked daily from 8-6pm to get this done for us by Friday. I was impressed by how careful they were to remove nail pops, smooth blemishes, and prepare the walls. They all were meticulous about keeping the house clean- and I love that they remove everything for you and put it back exactly as it was prior. It was as if they weren't ever there- except I have fresh paint on the walls! They even vacuumed on their way out. I chose Zarazua based on the plentiful positive reviews online, so I thought I'd share my recent experience. I scheduled an estimate a month before my hopeful date for the job - painting my entire downstairs, the stairway, and master bedroom. The painter from Zarazua arrived an hour and a half late. He was very nice and more than cordial, but only took a few pictures and indicated the job wouldn't be too costly or difficult. I received the estimate over a week later (seems like a long time when compared to others). Note that they missed at least 5 of my calls to them asking about the estimate, and eventually only responded by email, which is where I received my quote and gave them paint colors. All was finalized 3 weeks in advance of the date of my job. I was told they typically arrive by 8:45, so I was prepared to receive them around 8. Come 10:00, still no one had showed. After several calls to the office (which doesn't answer calls on the weekend) and several emails, I received an email stating that all of the painters had been given the weekend off and basically, it had been a mistake to schedule me that day and they had forgotten about it. So, they'd come next week. On the rescheduled day of the job, I received a call that they couldn't find 2 of my paint colors. They arrived at 9 AM without the colors so they could begin and one of the team of 4 went out to find the other two. The painters actual work was great - their prep was ideal, they worked efficiently, and the walls look fantastic. However, upon inspection of one room while they were working on another, they painted a room the completely wrong color (not even the same shade), so they had to leave to find the correct color again. Additionally, they did not initially complete every wall that was included in the estimate, so towards the end I had to specifically ask that this be done. Despite the troubles we had throughout the process, no concession in price was offered, nor did I even have the opportunity to discuss this. In summary, it was pretty tiring working with Zarazua painting. It's difficult to obtain communication by phone, and they really weren't all that reliable regarding when they arrive or returning calls. However, as other reviews have mentioned, once you finally get them into your home and working, they do a good job. Just be prepared that they're "very busy" as I was often reminded, and make sure you both confirm your appointment with them well in advance and review your colors with them well ahead of time, confirming that they've been able to find the correct colors before the date of your job. read more

I met with Richard from Zarazua Paining back in March, to discuss some painting needs in our house before our scheduled move in late May. Richard diligently took notes and prepared an estimate for the work within a few days. The work was put on the schedule more quickly than I'd anticipated, work was begun on the exact date it was scheduled, and the crew did a fabulous job. The job originally included four bedrooms (including a large master bedroom with vaulted ceilings), large master bathroom, large master closet, and half bathroom (which required the removal of wallpaper and chair rail before painting). I ended up adding on another full bathroom and five additional closets (in preparation for the installation of closet systems). The crew was very flexible, taking the additional work in stride. I can't say enough about what a positive experience it was to work with Zarazua Painting. We are planning to use them (again and again!) until there's nothing left to paint. read more

A relative referred Zarzua painting to us as we have a rental house we are rehabbing. They agreed to paint ceilings, walls and baseboards. They were supposed to begin Monday morning- no show, no advance notice. They came Tuesday, painted ceilings okay. Walls were another matter - paint drips everywhere and paint drips on window and door frames as well as crown moldings. Furthermore, they only painted one room's baseboard, badly at that. They were happy to tell us that they had painted everything and took their money (had to pay them in cash). Now we're trying to get them to come back and do what they originally said they would do. They didn't show today, so who knows. I guess we're supposed to sit at the house and wait until they see fit to do what they said they would do. DON'T BOTHER WITH THESE GUYS. Juan Zarazua and his employees are superb. He painted the outside of our home this past summer and the inside this fall. Zarazua painting came highly recommended to us by a neighbor. Juan has redefined painting. It is so much more than simply putting paint on the walls. They sand and prep the walls before they begin painting. The paint job is excellent. The paint is even and smooth and the lines where the woodwork and the walls meet are perfectly straight. Both the inside and outside of our house look better than new.
