Zaman's should be on your list to visit when in Scottsdale over any other shop! John, the owner will sincerely take excellent care of you to more than meet your expectations In jewelry and collectibles. Nice to experience real service and customer concern with quality products... a dead feature in most if today's retail world. Now we know why John has remained in business for many decades... Hopefully, Zaman!s will continue for many more.... read more

Horrible customer service, bought a bracelet here said he made it himself wore it 2 hours then it broke. I called to let him know as soon as it happened said he would take care of when I came back just now he got in my face, yelled & was rude because I wanted a refund. Said I was accusing him when I said his work breaks. I would not buy from him, just know if something happens with the jewelry he will not refund your money! EDIT: I'm not a kid I'm a grown woman, I didn't second guess my purchase because of the money spent I second guessed my purchase because it broke after TWO HOURS! I have had several pieces made in solid gold and have never had any of them break! Make sure you include how hostile you came at me, and how you were a grown man getting in a woman's face like you were ready to come at me. To add on, he stated the bracelet was 18K gold. We had it checked and it indeed is plated! Take this as a warning he is not a honest man and I would not trust him! read more

He told my wife he had a special Judy Repke sterling piece. Said normally it's $1,100 but it's his slow season, my wife can have it for $300. My wife looked it up online- same piece going for $98. read more

As we were making this process difficult, he made several suggestions which were brilliant & beyond beautiful And simple. John is honest & easy to work with. You will not be disappointed. Tons of merchandise and great prices! read more

I am a repeat customer of Zaman's and I recently purchased a necklace from John at Zaman's. I wanted some changes to it but I was not going to be in the area long enough to pick it up after the changes were complete so we agreed he would mail it to me. When I received it at home I was not completely satisfied with it. John went above and beyond to make sure I was a happy customer. We texted back and forth. He never ignored one of my texts and he always answered promptly, I felt that he truly cared about making sure I was satisfied. Ultimately I was very happy with the end result. I have a lovely necklace that I will enjoy wearing for a long time (and I still get compliments on the first one I bought from him every time I wear it!). You can trust him to do what he says! I will visit him again the next time I am in Scottsdale. read more

He has a great collection of jewelry to select from & lots of it he made at great prices. What was really amazing is.. I have a inlaid opel & turquoise cuff bracelet that a couple pieces came out. I couldn't find anyone to fix it & John said he could. I mailed it, he repaired it & mailed it back quickly. It looks awesome. I go to his shop every year when I go out to Cave Creek. read more

John was very helpful and accommodating. We bought a ring several years back at another Jeweler in Prescott. A couple of coral pieces had fallen out and we needed it sized and fixed. John was not only able to size, but was able to replace the intricate pieces of coral that needed replacing! Please, visit his shop in Old Town Scottsdale if you're in town and tell him CHI-Town sent you! read more

Was in Arizona for a friend's bachelor's party and wanted to buy a mother's day gift since AZ was known for gemstones and handcrafted jewelry. Was told a pendant necklace was filled gold and real jade and topaz. Sold to me for about $100 and told me it was originally $230. I was told it was an antique. After flying back home to California, I examined it and found that it was worn in some areas and the jade looked fake. After a quick google search, I found the same exact pendant on Alibaba for $5 and that he simply swapped out the chain. The gold filled, was gold plated, the topaz was zircon. I could dwell on the shame of being scammed, but what stays with me more is the deep disappointment that someone would exploit me in my attempt to show gratitude to my mother. Edit: I wanted this experience to be over when I made my original post, but this had been dredged into my day again before Mother's Day. It is despicable that this man is doubling down on his deceit and claims I did not purchase this from his store. I do not have the receipt, but I have posted a section of my bank statement for the public to prove I made a purchase at his store that aligns with the price I stated I paid. I desire no further contact from this evil man. Yelp has also stated I violated posting guidelines for posting a picture of the same pendant I found on Alibaba. But you can simply google "jade butterfly gold pendant" and find links for this product on Alibaba, Amazon, Etsy, and Ebay for a far cheaper price than what I paid for. read more

We recently visited Scottsdale and decided to explore the Old Town shops. John's shop stood apart from the rest in terms of both interesting variety and John's impressive knowledge of virtually every piece in his store. John is a very friendly and outgoing kind of guy. My very first impression of him was simply that he was talkative, but as I have gotten to know him since that first visit I have come to understand that what is really happening is John is passionate about art, and he surrounds himself with items that ignite that spark within him. On our initial visit a large format copper flat art piece caught my attention. It turned out to be the most interesting item I saw in all of Old Town. Of course, John was able to share with me every detail about the artist, their processes, the materials, the context. He even went so far as to compare and contrast it with other similar works he had in his store. We had not gone to Old Town with the intention of purchasing a large artwork so we eventually moved on, but that piece of art made an impression on us and we found we were talking about it that evening and the next morning. It really resonated with both of us. Long story short, I made a couple of emails and then a few phone calls to John over the next few days. I asked all sorts of questions, including some relatively technical, and John took all the time needed to address my every concern and curiosity. If he didn't know the answer in the moment, he would plainly say so, and he would find the answer and get back to me. Negotiating a price could not have been easier, or fairer. In fact, I think John gave us a little too good of a deal, but he should consider it a long term investment because we will absolutely be visiting his store whenever in Scottsdale. It'll be our first stop. John handled the oversized shipping expertly. As a former preparator and installer of museum-grade fine art, I can tell you this man knows what he is doing and I would trust him without hesitation to ship anything. In fact I will go so far as to say I just trust him, period. John strikes me as a good man who is passionate about his products and customers. I sincerely look forward to not only our next visit to Scottsdale, but to developing a lasting relationship. We feel like we have our own personal inside art connection in Scottsdale with John. read more

I just happened to go into this shop, looking to replace a cross that I had lost, and I found this piece that he had custom made. Additionally, I had a mother's necklace that I wanted to change up and he customized it exactly as I described. I asked to have everything shipped to my home in Boston and it arrived very quickly. Customer service was out of sight and I have not taken off my necklaces since I received them - highly recommend Zaman's Collections! read more

I love this Moonstone ring purchased from John at Zaman's Collection in Scottsdale. I don't normally leave reviews, but was so pleased with this that I literally had to set up an account just so I could leave a review. The photo doesn't do it justice as the colors sparkle all through the stone and the silver is really high quality. John was great to work with. Gave me a fair price for a beautiful custom-made ring. It reminds me of a mood ring. Visited from Spokane, WA. read more

Great service, incredible variety for all. Thoroughly enjoyed John, his attention to detail and knowledge.

I keep returning to Zaman's because of the amazing pieces there, the best prices in town and because John is such a good person.

My wife and I have been to this shop twice when we vacation in the area. Both times we have bought rings for her. John is a terrific, friendly and charismatic guy. He has gone out of his way for us and we enjoy visiting him. We look forward to going back the next time we're in town. read more

Took us for a ride Interesting how you start in a random store and all the rest you go to the same item is half as much. An item was listed at $595 but it was 70% off, so we thought we got it for a steal. It was exactly what we were looking for, we were happy with the purchase, and went on our way. We would have rated the experience higher, if at the next store (and all proceeding) the same item was listed at $125 with 50% sales. Same quality, but different colors. Now we feel duped. The salesman was passionate, albeit quite aggressive and pushy. His story on some of his pieces changed as the conversation went on. He wanted to make the sale so he "could go home." After reading others' reviews after posting my comment, I've noticed he's been "closing up shop" since 2012. I'll make sure to never recommend this place to others. Update: The business owner has reached out to me three times now and is argumentative and appears very angry. I'd like to lower my review to a one-star because I'm getting sick and tired on his excuses but I can't blame him for wanting money or appearing disparate after reopening after the pandemic, so that extra star is a sympathy star . If you don't want bad reviews, treat people better. It's not difficult. read more

Got a beautiful pendant and a choker. The price is reasonable. The owner is very friendly. I will definitely go back with my husband.

BUYER BEWARE! Wish I had read the reviews here first. Saw a cute little silver necklace of a cactus and thought "What a great reminder of my trip to Phoenix". Now it is a reminder of how I got RIPPED OFF in Phoenix. I fell for "I made it, it's sterling silver with a white gold on top so it will never tarnish. The tiny stones are emeralds very hard to place individually. I'll discount it to $80 ($117 CAN) and I'll eat the tax." ...It's a knock off Pandora charm from Amazon.com that sells for $15.99. FML Such a disappointment. It must be so tiring to be that deceitful all day long. Shame on you John. read more

From $899 to $400, how lucky could I be to get a "sale" on an estate .925 sterling silver ring? How foolish do you think I am? Scummy sales practices trying to pull a quick one on the customer that usually will be a traveler. When you express you aren't interested in purchasing an item the owner takes that very personally. After showing me a bracelet I didn't even ask to have pulled out, I considered it, but mentioned it wasn't my style. Instantly snatched the bracelet off and said "I don't need your money anyways, let me pay attention to this other customer who will actually spend in here." What a child, maybe if he learned to grow up and not get so sensitive I would have purchased the product I had been considering earlier. No clue how he has been in business for so long, I'd advise avoiding this spot. The comments on here that are all positive seem very robotic, whereas the comments that are negative are very detailed. read more

This shop is terrible, the owner is a crook. He is mean, rude and insulting! He is an obnoxious over bearing and pushy sales man. He sold my mom a ring that he said he made, told her it was silver. After she showed it to me and we overlooked it, it is clearly not silver. It was not stamped. We took it back the next day to exchange it. After being insulted several times by the owner and witnessing him insult other customers. We worked a deal for 2 other pieces of jewelry and then told him we were exchanging the ring from the day before he lost his mind. Yelling and screaming and cussing at us. He told us the next customer that walked in his store was going to f@#ked! This was unbelievable, a bit entertaining but super bad for business! I would not send my worst enemy into this store. Beware! read more

He is a crook! My mom went in and said he was very pushy. She ended up buying "Navajo" pearls from him and other things. She went to another jeweler afterwards and showed them the pearls and they asked if she paid a lot because they were not real nor worth $600. She was surprised he sold her those for so much. We went back to get the money back because he was a fraud and thankfully he gave us most of it back. He made my mom keep one other item, but proceeded to be extremely rude and cussed us out. Hopefully no one else gets swindled by him. Don't do business here. read more

Would like to give a Zero. I gave John a chance for one week calling daily. No chance to put a message for John. Bought a ring on our trip to Scottsdale. John was very nice, new how to make a conversation but suupper pushy. I liked a pendant and he offered to convert the pendent to a ring with very poor craftmanship AND sold it 3x as expensive as his neighbor jewlers. That left a very bad taste. I felt so cheated when I saw his neighbor jewlers having jewlery at a third of his prices. I wore the ring 2 days and the stone is now loose!! I can't wear it ! I have called him from morning to night on a daily basis and have had my husband do the same. No voicemail. That store was not busy and my gut feeling says he cheats on all the customers, hence he DOES NOT PICK UP THE PHONE. I should have read the reviews, should have stepped out and think it over and not be pushed to by this poor quality ring that is already broken. I can't wear it. read more

John was courteous, cooperative and very kind, and followed up frequently until my replacement gift finally arrived.
