I was very surprised to find a 2.5 average for Zahara. Though less surprised to find that the issues were unrelated to the food and drink quality. During our short stint in Barcelona, my family visited Zahara and absolutely loved it.
Granted, we are tourists, and, yes, the place is small and cramped (elbow to elbow at that) and, as you can tell from the photos, there is a good chance you will sit outside. BUT we relished every bite of our food. We ordered a pitcher of sangria to start and my dad ordered a Coronita (we were tickled to find, according to our waitress, that they couldn't call it "Corona" in Spain because of the king and queen). Then we ordered the veal burger and chicken fajita and both dishes were DELICIOSOS. The burger had really succulent meat - arguably one of the best burgers I have ever had in my life - smothered in a caramelized apple and fig spread, carrots, greens, tomatoes, and cucumbers...just heavenly. The chicken fajita dish came as a wrap and had a delicious avocado, tomato, and chicken meld.
My one gripe was that the kitchen closed rather early. It was about 7:30 that night when we thought about ordering something to go as well, but couldn't. Other than this, however, Zahara provided us with one of our best meals in Barca. read more
