Wasted 2 hours waiting around, I was coming off of a 12 hour shift at the hospital, and my dad had to take off work for a whole week for this appointment since he's a truck driver. Also wasted $15 to park our cars in the plaza. The doctor had an emergency, OK no problem - things happen, we completely understand, but it should not have taken 2 hours of us waiting and calling around to notify us. Was told a manager will reach out to us to make it right - crickets. Spoke to Deanna from the call center and she had the stinkiest, snobbiest attitude arguing back at us, cut us off mid-sentence and was extremely rude. I also work in health care and have never displayed such unprofessional mannerism with my patients. She completely soured our experience single-handedly. Perhaps Deanna would benefit from some more professional training. The staff from the office was otherwise pleasant.

I was inspired to write a review today, just to warn people that suddenly, due to management changes in the building, the Center is no longer able to validate parking in the adjacent structure--so take my advice and park at Old World Village! Spend the $5 on a pleasant beverage at A Coffee Tale instead of on parking. Pro Tip: that cafe is a nice place to wait for your eyes to un-dilate before attempting to drive.

I spoke to a woman named Angie in the billing department who told me that she no longer has access to billing information. I can't even get an itemized bill. I have insurance which doesn't appear to have been billed. This is so pathetic. Why do so-called professionals have such unprofessional, incompetent people on their staffs? Do they not understand how bad it makes them look? I will ask my eye doctor to refer me to another retina specialist. They certainly can't be any worse than this office.

I spoke with Brittany at the OC Retina Center, and she said that I was in a kind of bind, as I'd not been given a referral from my primary care provider, yet couldn't come in and pay out of pocket because the clinic did take my insurance. I drove around trying to speak with someone in my provider network when Brittany called me back and said she'd get me in with some pending approval status. She had done everything she could to get me to see a doctor in a clinic fairly close to my home. And she gave me an appointment with an excellent specialist, Dr. Esther Kim. I was able to see Dr. Esther Kim on that Tuesday and she identified that I'd lost pressure in my cornea and would need sutures to stem the damage. She scheduled me for surgery for the next day, completed the surgery herself, and it all went very well. She also noted that I'd had some retina fluid build-up following the blow and that I'd also need an injection to clear that up. I told her that we'd had a family trip to Kauai planned and she gave me the injection in time for me to travel with my family.  During my trip, I was frightened by some symptoms and was again able to speak with Brittany, who knew my case and was willing to receive images of the symptoms. She assured me that, while frightening, the symptoms were fairly normal. She then spoke with the doctor and was remarkably matter-of-fact and reassuring in that moment of crisis. They called in some drops that would help with my eye sensitivity and I was able to enjoy the trip. The sutures have been removed and the other concerning symptoms seem to be resolving. I'm feeling quite grateful to Dr. Kim, to Brittany, and to the other staffers. I may have some issues that need tending in the future, which is concerning, but I have confidence in the OC Retina Center and trust that they'll do their best to attend to any forthcoming issues.

I came back for a second treatment for a retinal detachment. Its very important to take care of that issue before i become fully blind with that eye. I have to trust the person who is doing the lasering, and the Doctor here was great. It took about 15 minutes of lasering, and it stung a little everytime they lasered. The scariest part was taking two needle shots right into the eye. I actually cried a little and a few minutes later i was getting two needles right into the eye to numb the eye before lasering. Overall they were very professional, i just came back last week from a check up and everything checked out right. I trusted this place with my only good eye and they did a great job. I will continue to come here for any eye exams, trusted and recommended retina place.

I've shown her a few highly edited photos of myself with my desired results. I originally chose Dr. Erb because her before / after results were the best I've seen. And after meeting with her via Zoom, I knew I'd found my Oculoplastic surgeon. She was extremely thorough during the interview, answering questions I've not even asked yet, and knew what I was going for. She went through the procedure with a fine-toothed comb, ensuring that I understood fully what to expect. Every question was answered, absolutely NOTHING was rushed. I felt extremely comfortable knowing I was in good hands. And Dr. Erb was so personable; I felt like I was the only patient in the world! On the day of surgery, I met with her staff, who were very accommodating, friendly and comforting (Gina is a riot!). They made me feel at ease before and after the surgery. Dr. Erb gave me some medication to induce sleep, and before I knew it, I was out. The procedure itself was pain-free. I was pretty groggy after surgery, and I can't remember too much. My healing from Day 0 was uneventful: no problems and no complications, just normal bruising and swelling, typical for someone my age. I'm pretty much a slow healer; I iced for the first week and a half to two weeks until I returned to Irvine for suture removal. The stitches were removed without a hitch (and felt amazing!), and now let the true healing begin! I'm now at one month+, and the results are incredible. The results look EXACTLY like my projected photos. I have zero complaints! I understand its only been a month, and my lids will continue to heal and de-swell. But if these results are any indication of what the final results will be, man oh man, I will re-name my first-born "Melanie"! Dr. Erb is extremely skilled in what she does, and she has great bedside manners. She truly listens to your wants and needs, and will do her best to keep you happy. Choosing Dr. Erb was a life-changing decision --- I can't recommend her enough!! I was always self-conscious of my eyes, and now I've never been happier. My only regret is that I wish I've gotten this done in my younger years. That, and I wish I had more eyes so she can do those, too! Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Einstein, Dr. Melanie Ho Erb -- wow!

From the moment I called to make the appointment, her and her staff was always very attentive and kind. The only time I was nervous during this process was that generally you're told you're supposed to get at least 3 consults before making a decision and I didn't; but I already knew it was going to be a waste of time if I went for other consults. As many reviews have pointed out, Dr Erb is double board certified in Oculoplastics surgery and ophthalmology. I knew I was in good hands and I'm so glad I was right! From the very beginning to even now, Dr Erb and her staff Gina and Annika were always there. Dr Erb was so fun to work with and so caring, attentive, very detailed, and really listened to my concerns. Their pre and post op instructions are really helpful and informative. I always felt prepared and all questions answered. I followed their instructions meticulously and my recovery could not have been easier. I'm 8 months post op, and Dr Erb is still making sure that I'm happy with my results. And I am!
