My stylist did a great job on the top of my long hair, and I didn't notice till I got home (lots of glare in the salon) that the bottom front areas had no highlights. I'd spent nearly $200 and got less than expected, so I called to see if the stylist could just put two more highlights in. Was told that bc I couldn't come in right away, since I was going out of town for 10 days, there would be a charge for a "redo." Corporate policy. I explained that I was traveling and couldn't come in for almost two weeks, and didn't need a redo anyway, just two highlights, one on each side. It didn't matter. This was not Hanes Mill Rd as given in the pulldown, but another in Winston-Salem, and I assume all salons would be as rigid.

I will be going back for a hair colour soon, as I am happy with this salon and the way in which they conduct themselves. The price is as advertised, and no working out on a calculator additional tax charges or in your face requesting tips (unlike other hair salons!) So professional. I will be a regular customer. I called just for a haircut and they gave me an appointment for a little bit later the same day which surprised me but I was pleased. They said the price was $45 which is much cheaper than what I pay where I live. The issue is that the girl that cut my hair is just learning ( therefore the price I assume) I could have someone at home do my haircut. I don't mind someone learning but another senior person at the salon should have come to review and show this girl how to do it better, so right now I'm still in need of a good haircut and out of $55 with the tip. I love her work as well as her in general! She is very good about walking me through pros and cons of certain cuts, discussing the next steps for my hair as it grows, suggesting styles, reminding me to use certain products, etc. Let's be real, I don't always take her advice because I prefer function over form, *but* I have started styling my hair more often since I've been seeing her, which is a near-miracle. As for Salons by JC overall: The actual salon space is small but cozy and I don't miss the atmosphere of a large salon; there's music, it smells good, and I have my stylist! The first visit can be a little confusing but I like the Salons by JC vibe overall and can find my way easily now. Parking is plentiful and the common waiting room and bathrooms are on par with most salons. I think it as a big artists' studio group. Looking forward to continuing my visits and meeting other salon owners in the space!
