Nice experience with the super friendly staff. They bleached and toned my hair and it still looked heathy. Did I wonderful hair cut for me and my boyfriend. Ask for Deanna she will do anything you want! Nail tech is very sweet and talented. Also a good experience with the eyebrow waxing, very clean. They have free wifi, coffee, and wine. Also a good selection of products that are vegan friendly. Over all great experience will be coming back. read more

Steve does an AMAZING job all around (highlights, haircuts, color customer service etc.) ..when I first moved here, from Queens, NY I was STUMPED! I had been going to the same stylist (in New York) for over 15 years. So needless to say I was VERY worried about having ANYONE touch my hair...I could honestly say...Steve is just as good if not BETTER than the hair stylist I had back at home in New York! Thank you Steve for all your services you have provided and for all your future services...keeping my "grays" hidden and my hair looking healthy and beautiful! your awesome! read more

My first time at Strands Salon was amazing so of course I was returning. The gentleman that did my hair last time wasn't available and with some important events coming up in my life my grays needed a cover, refresh on my highlights and my clean Bob needed about an inch cut off, so I went ahead with a different stylist. Well I walked out with the worst butchered haircut I think I've ever had in my life. My pretty blonde highlights I had are now a bright gold orange and the stylist called it like a baylage which isn't what I asked for. I've cried and cried and with butchered so short ( about 3 inches off back look like I took scissors myself to it and played chopping game) and brassy hair I'll have to find a place to fix because I will never be returning to Strands. It can't really be fixed because my hair is literally so short I can't even use my round brush on it. I walked out of the salon and felt like a complete disaster. Hair is so important to me and I will pay whatever the amount to have healthy looking beautiful hair. I'm writing this just warning anyone going there to stop your stylist if you are worried. I should've spoke up when she was chopping away because I had a feeling it was going to be awful. I've never cried over my hair before but I guess first time for everything. I gave three stars because people are nice, it's clean and I did get a awesome cut by a previous stylist there and the stylist that did my hair was nice but maybe didn't understand my interpretation of a clean bob. read more

Had waxing done here, the person doing the waxing has to be the funniest, most creative and interesting person I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She LOVES her job. While I am not thinking about getting anything else waxed (Ears only thus far), she would make me reconsider! Greta service, amazing personality, if you have waxing in your future, go here.. read more

Im not sure where to start..... My first phone call to the salon, I was greeted by Robin. Immediately she felt warm and caring as I was in "melt down mode" over a few bad cuts and color (from previous salons). I was desperate to find someone that would actually listen to me and cared. Robin listened to me ramble and said she had just the person to book an appointment with. I went to my appointment, which was with Deanna. She took her time with me, wanted to know my concerns and my likes regarding style etc. I had several photos of similar cuts that I liked and we chose to go with a "mix" of two cuts. I couldnt be happier with my hair and am scheduled to go in a few weeks, for highlights. The salon is clean and tastefully decorated. ALL staff I encountered were very friendly. I love all the services offered and will DEF be returning for more pampering. Highly recommend! A huge thank you!! read more

I see Nathan and he does absolutely WONDERS with my hair! Always exactly what I want and I feel like a new person everytime I leave! Nathan is very personable and sweet and me and both my kids absolutely adore him! Since coming here the 1st time, I will go to no one else! read more

My favorite Hairstylist ever is Lisa. She had been coloring/cutting my hair for close to 15 years and now that my mom lives here in Winston Salem she also is a client of Lisa. My mom & I have totally different hair texture etc. but Lisa know just how to take care of both of our needs and we always leave feeling happy, and thrilled with the results! I would definitely recommend Lisa to anyone looking for an excellent stylist and colorist. read more

Kristin is the girl to go to for ANY hair request! Each time I leave from an appointment with Kristin, several people have stopped to ask me who does my hair or commented on the beauty and healthy shine. I have people at work who have switched to Strands Salon to get booked with Kristin but now it's hard to get a slot open with her . Kari does as much as an awesome job also. None of the employees try to do hard sales or push ideas /products on you which is nice and each client is even offered wine to relax. Oh and the Chemistry Shot treatment offered here has rescued my hair multiple times, thanks you guys! read more

I love Strands and the owner himself took care of me after a first haircut didn't turn out so well, from another , who said she could cut my hair but I can say the second did and he was so nice and accommodating I left very satisfied and got compliments from strangers about my hair style because I went to Strands a second time! Thank you for your time and expertise! read more

I initially came here with a monthly local flyer coupon and recommendation from a friend. Boy was I happy to find this place, and I have been coming here for haircuts ever since. I get my hair cut by Steve and he does an awesome job. My hair can be trouble sometimes for hairstylist because my hair is fine/mid-coarseness but dense, but Steve manages it well. He patiently listens to what I want and provides advice when solicited. My husband is Asian, so his hair also brings a new challenge and Steve does a great job with that too. The shop is modern and clean. They have a lot of other services (manicures and pedicures), but I have yet to take them up on any of those. A great feature of this shop is that you can schedule, cancel, and change your appointments online. For pricing, compared to other places this place is a little more costly, hence four stars rather than five stars. Still, they do a great job and I will certainly become a regular. read more

See all

I've been going to see Kristen for over a year now and it's been the best decision I've ever made as far as my hair goes! She was recommended to me by a co-worker and she has yet to disappoint me! I've also never gotten so many compliments on my hair since I've started to see her. Hands down the best and I will never go see anyone else. If your looking for someone I couldn't recommend her more to you!!!!! Also as far as the salon it self goes you will love the decor, feel, and the service--trust me! read more

Kristin is amazing. My hair is far from easy to handle it's very thick and long!! And Kristin knows exactly what to do to make it look amazing. I always get compliments on how healthy and shiny it looks. I highly recommend her. read more

I got a coupon deal for here and have just kept going back. I see Jandelyn every month for my color. I keep going back because she listens to exactly what I want and never pushes. She is really easy to talk to and my hair always looks great. The salon itself is not bad, but really needs some improvements. I feel sometimes like it is a giant space and it is lacking in several ways. It would be nice to have some music and a little bit more of a welcome. There is never anyone up front at the desk that I usually just walk back and sit on the couch. There needs to be more people there working because it is usually hectic The rewards program needs some work. Despite me going once a month it will take me around 2 years I guess to earn a bottle of shampoo. I have participated in much better rewards programs so for me that is a downside. I would love to see them add in some discounts for regular appointments. I have a monthly appointment for a color touchup and possibly a trim if needed. I would love it once in a while to include a free manicure or something as a little extra for being a monthly client. Update: No longer go here. Do not want to go into details. read more

Strands Salon And Spa - Newest style for me from Kristin - Day Spas Near Me - Winston Salem, North Carolina

This is an extremely posh upscale salon for this area. Steve, the owner gets my hair exactly how I want it. I have never had a stylist as good!!!ever!! He makes sure the other stylist do your hair just as well or he will fix it. All of this at very reasonable prices. 5 stars is not enough..I have been to 5 different stylist over the last 20 yesrs and they all were highly recommended, but Strandz tops them all. You just can't go wrong. My daughter has started going too and her stylist is a female who like Steve, got the exact look she wanted!!! read more

When I moved here ove three years ago, I was introduced to Kristin. I have followed since, and I will say this is an awesome place where she landed. From the moment you walk in, it is very open and inviting. The decor is soothing and your stresses go away. Top notch from me! I highly recommend this place! Be sure to ask for Kristin G! read more

Wonderful salon! Like another reviewer, I used a coupon and got a fantastic deal for a cut & color. Professional and comfortable, would definitely recommend to others. read more

I got a coupon to come for a new mama cut and color. While I appreciate the deal ($39.99 for both) in the end I got what I paid for. The stylist was very young and kept pulling my hair while combing it, brushing it, and washing it and I even felt some pull out. The color she chose was wrong--as when I got home and washed it, I ended up with hair in three different colors! Lighter on top, dark in the middle, and red on the ends. She also did a sloppy job with it and I found a lot of grey hairs not covered or only partially covered. They had some kind of machine that supposedly cut the process time in half, but it obviously did not work. Also, where I showed pictures of rather layered cuts, once I washed my hair, it really turned out to be cut into nothing other than a long bob. read more

I'm new to the area and found an unbelievable deal/ coupon for hair cut, style, hair conditioning treatment and FULL highlights for an AMAZING $39 in a local mag. I was in desparite need of highlights for my roots and well.... A cut loooong overdue!! I called, made an appointment with Steve and well.... I will be going back!!! He is a wonderful stylist and did a beautiful job with the highlights and nailed the cut I wanted!! I have a ton of hair, thick and naturally wavy... Im a hard to please client because its hard to get a stylist that listens to what I wanted. He listened and I am so pleased!!!! LOVE my hair!! Thanks Steve, I will be seeing you in 4-6 weeks for a trim and to get my roots done!! See, the coupon works! I will be coming back for sure!! Also, the salon is beautiful!!
