The atmosphere is very nouveau-riche, with iPads to browse the menu, but not to order, and one per table, which seems kind of pointlessly pretentious, but the service is outstanding - courteous, competent, and fast. We ordered the fancy house-special sashimi plate and asked for Nigori sake. Although the serving of Sake for two is generous, it's a low-quality clear sake. Despite assurances from our order-taker that it was white and cloudy, they have no news of unfiltered sake in this place, and Chileans are notoriously good at ignoring what they don't already know, so we let that slide. The sashimi plate came quickly and was also very generously sized, with four cuts each of 5 different fish: salmon that was very nice, passable tuna, slightly tough octopus, and two whitefish that were really not of sashimi quality & freshness. The slices were ridiculously big, and seemed like they were prepped earlier in the day - the cuts did not seem just-sliced. In Japan, San Francisco, L.A. or Vancouver I think people would make the servers aware that it's bad form and inconvenient to serve 1/4lb fish-slices, but as I mentioned earlier, there's little point bringing it up in the local culture. There are some very stylish nigiri sushi on offer, as well as the very curious local maki, which have all the finesse of barbecue ribs. However, the rest of the menu looks intriguing. $25 for a bowl of unagi udon seems stupidly expensive, but the prepared foods we saw at the tables around us looked pretty good. We'll definitely go back & check out the rest of the menu as soon as we feel like spending over $50 for two rice-bowls again! ;)

Sorry Chile, you are adorable but when it comes to Japanese you're just not quite in the big leagues yet.

Twice we drove by Nueva China, and on the second occasion, we ate dinner there…read more The exterior of the restaurant is attention-grabbing. Dare I say it even looks fancy? Not to mention it has ample parking in the front. That's not exactly something prominent in those parts. Anyhow, the first day we couldn't find it again, so we didn't go, but the second day we stopped by and it was empty. No worries though - by the time we were leaving, it was packed like a can of sardines much like the first day when we drove by it. A note - this was probably the best meal I had on vacation. No lie. This is a Chinese restaurant, but they also have sushi. They do a little bit of everything. This wound up being our nice night out and we loved every second of it. Staff was kind, portions were generous, and the food was spectacular. My companion and I shared some vegetable spring rolls to start, then he had the Mongolian beef and I had the shrimp lo mein. I sampled a bit of his beef and it was better than average. The vegetable spring rolls, too, were plentiful (we had half a dozen total) and just made. As for the shrimp lo mein, so much shrimp and so hearty and tasty. My only regret is our hotel didn't have a microwave. They also serve beer and wine. Not sure about liquor. My companion had beer and I had ginger ale. Can't complain. The Chinese food at Nueva China rivals my favorite Chinese joint back home except it may actually be healthier. I wish I could take this restaurant with me. I find myself still craving their shrimp weeks later.

We had always walked past this Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant so it was about time we came in - and it was definitely worth it! We started with a perfectly made roll as an appetizer, it had exactly the right cream cheese-rice-fish ratio. Now, here is where we went wrong. I love kimchi and more importantly spice...but both my partner and I over estimated our spice tolerance. We are used to asking for the highest spice level and always being underwhelemed, so here, no different we said we wanted the strongest spice they had--and they held nothing back! My partner, according to the waitress, had ordered the spiciest dish on the menu, the Mun- o dop bap: a delcious rice dish of octopus (unfortunately, it was a bit overcooked), sauteed veggies and a spicy sauce (where on top of the spicy sauce you can choose to add spice) I chose the Kimchi dop bap, traditional korean kimchi (it was delicous I definitely recommend it) rice dish with veggies sauteed in sesame oil. It comes spicy (I asked for extra spice-wrong move). The service was great - our waitress was extremely friendly and the food came out quickly. The ambiance was perfect for a romantic date (although somewhat quiet). Overall, this would have been an exceptional dinner if we hadn't gone over board with the spice. However, we definitely warmed ourselves up on this cold evening. Tip: Pay in cash and get a 30% discount on sushi. Sit on the second floor -- you will have a great view of the city. If you end up making the mistake of ordering your dish too spicy, ask them for "salsa de unagi" a sweet sauce that can help cover the spice. They will give you as much as you need - free!

Not used to the chives or the heart of palm in my cali roll either, that was very different. This is day two and I am homesick for Michigan, because at least I have a ton of great sushi and Korean options. My veggie bibimbap was less than stellar and besides the carrots and the bean sprout it had way too many weird veggies that don't belong in a bibimbap, ever, broccoli, zucchini and red pepper to name a few. It tasted more like a stir fry than a bibimbap.

Their sushi bar is really small so I've never actually tried it, but I'd be willing to give it a shot. I enjoy their wonton soup, chow mein, and pineapple chicken. They also serve beer, wine by the glass, and the usual bar drinks such as pisco sour, piscola and mojitos.
