Well, we're less impressed, now. While our first experience with the company was textbook-perfect, a couple of weeks later, we discovered a puddle down back above the drain field. We don't blame the company for doing something wrong, at all. In hindsight, WE were doing a lot of things wrong for good septic system maintenance. We called their office and left a message with the receptionist; no reply. Over the next couple of weeks, we called several more times. The last time, we did get a call back, saying that they'd try to come out in the afternoon to check it out. They never came by and never called again.
In the long run, maybe they did us a favor. In the weeks since, we've been doing a lot of research and have discovered a few things we can try as "home remedies" before spending thousands to have the drain field dug up. No more than three loads of laundry per day, fewer flushes, switching soaps and detergents to more septic-friendly products, dryer sheets instead of liquid softeners, and "shocking" the system with extra Rid-X treatments. It all seems to be working; the puddle is much smaller and some days there's no puddle visible.
Obviously, drain field work is a LOT more work than draining a septic tank. Maybe they just prefer to not deal with them, but we do wish they could have said so instead of stringing us along. Honesty up front wouldn't have cost them two stars in my review. read more
