Not sure who's managing this place now but it has gone down... There's no nice warm welcome at the door at all. The showers have been out of services for more than 6 months now. This morning I had signed up for a Hot Yoga class at 8:30 am. The doors were locked till 8:20. We were all waiting outside in the rain and cold. Once the doors opened, only 1 employee was checking people in. As we rushed to get our favorite spot in the room only to find out they had forgotten to turn up the heat on that morning. The heat never came back on and I did not break a sweat in the entire hour. So much for Hot Yoga.....When I brought these things to the front desk no one seemed to care. Very disappointed. This is a fabulous studio...I've been doing yoga for 15 years and I've had the best exprience at Yyoga Kitsalano. I am visiting from out of town and the 2 times I've been to this studio the instructors were top notch and the entire studio was very clean. But there's more...the check-in process is quick; the staff are kind, friendly and very helpful. The tea here is great too. I come to Vancouver often and will be back at this studio. Yyoga's website offer a lot of different class types in the city know as the yoga capital of Canada. Using up my holiday promo pass, before it expires then I will be going back to my regular practice at Modo & Hot Box. -Yyoga Kits is the Mickey D's of yoga, busy packed studio's, a tell-tale sign they overbook students when you can barely place a yoga block on the left, right, front, and back of your mat. You have your chatty folks here, as well as the instructors just doing their shift. This reminds me of the atmosphere at the city community centers, where folks are catching up on in-studio chit-chat regardless that it's a "yoga studio." Save the chat to the lounge? The regulars don't follow etiquette guidelines noted on the website, don't care, or just ignorant? Same goes for Richmond. Yaletown is somewhat better for its boutique feel. Can't wait to get back to my go-to studios as noted. read more

Clean facility, modern decor, happy instructors and lots of classes :) I'm currently doing the 30 days for $40 including mat and towel use. Don't I wish it was always this cheap ! So far I've been to Pilates, Hot Yoga, Power, Hatha. I really enjoy the variety of classes and teachers. Every class is slightly different so you don't get bored of the same routine but you still get your core moves in so that you can see your improvement. Coco and Ryan have wicked pilates classes at 8am. Shivani has a challenging and fun power class. It was my first time doing power and we did a lot of wall work. Awesome work out and very inspiring too! Really want to be able to do the handstands with as much control as she does...while talking ! Anila had the craziest hot yoga I've ever done but that was her last day at Kits and we all voted to through the normal sequences out the window. So glad she'll be teaching in Richmond (finally open today), which is much closer for me than Kits. I signed up for a 10 class package in the summer but the staff don't tell you explicitly those classes expire after 3 months while a 10 class package bought in the winter will last for 6 months. It's sneaky stuff like that that puts me off from an otherwise professionally run and respectable establishment. Will be yoga' ing elsewhere from now on! The interior and facility is very very nice, and the service was OKAY. It was my first time coming to Yyoga and I was super excited. My favorite was the fact the class was a lot smaller so it's relaxing. However, when I was finished I didn't realize that the "return mat and towel" was inside the room, when I went to ask the front desk girl where I can return it, she was very rude and didn't even bother to look at me. And when I was in the changing room, there was a bag beside the bench (note: beside) and my bag was next to it (note: NEXT TO IT) and this lady gave me a lot of attitude telling me to move my bag and get out of her space. Um if you want a lot of space maybe you shouldn't come to a small facility. If I left my house just to deal with snotty people, I might as well just work out at home. read more

I bought a bike and do Yoga. Guess I'm one of them now. I've been to their Highgate Village location before but I'm pretty sure this one is their flagship. It has a pretty awesome patio overlooking W 4th and a great view of downtown as you walk to the studios. Too bad they don't serve booze. Staff are friendly, facilities are always clean. Can't really rate the instructors as it varies every day. I do wish they had the studios facing downtown instead of W 4th. Kind of wasting the view. read more

I've been to several classes here, and it has quickly become my favourite place for yoga. I like YYoga in general, because they provide Yin yoga classes every day, (which is a rare treat around here) but this one is my fave because the vibe feels right to me: spacious but not empty-feeling studios, a little bamboo to screen the urban view outside, tastefully-designed & -decorated lobby area and lounge, fabulous infrared sauna and sleek, peaceful change room areas. Although it's the furthest Yyoga studio from my home and office, I love coming here for some good yoga practice and me-time. I so wish it wasn't this far from where my life happens, as this is my favourite Yyoga studio: spacious, very bright, always super clean, and quiet. Being in Kitsilano, it doesn't have the hustle and bustle of the downtown or Yaletown ones. Every once in a while I come here for a 5.45pm class, which in other studios get pretty busy and you may find yourself... having less of a yoga approach to securing a locker or a spot for your bag on the racks. Never a disappointment with the instructors, they're always great and going the extra mile to ensure a safe and beneficial practice. Highly recommended! read more

My favorite yyoga location for several reasons: large and spacious, outdoor patio, snack and drink bar, studios are huge - no worries about contact with your classmate, free parking a block away, lots of lockers, generally space is kept clean, close to restaurants for a bite after practice. Only con is I do not live close enough to call this my preferred location so I only come when I'm in the neighbourhood visiting family or shopping. read more

I was a long time customer since 2008 I think, I came to many different studios. Last 3 years I had a car accident thus I couldn't go as much. I'm suffering from fybromyalgia: chronic pain and experiencing brain fog and forgetfulness. I go to Kitsilano studio lots before and it today was not a good day for me, I am in pain every day all the time and I was hoping to get some relief from taking yyoga hot class again for first time at : 10 am and to realized that I got the wrong wallet m didn't have my credit card with me. I told the reception that please let me come in the class n we can sort out payment later. I will in to give new credit card because the card on file is no longer working, I'm willing to leave my belongings and will pick up later too when I get home to get a new credit card, I plan to pay for drop in and get monthly membership or 10 day pass, continue to be a loyal customer but the reception lady who I believe is the manager said no, I have to have credit card and payment in order to get in, it is the policy. She doesn't understand that I m going to through lots of pain and drove 20 min to get to the class one way. It is not like I'm going to walk away after my class, I explained to her but she isn't understand my situation at all and have more compassion about it. Absolutely fabulous. If you want to yoga, this is where you do it. What others said before me is true: showers and changing room are humongous and beautiful and have every little thing you need, including spray on deodorant and NICE hair dryers. I don't meet those little cheap white plasticky things, I mean actually nice hair dryers. Classes are spacious, and perhaps I should not post this review lest I attract more people to the studio... There are a variety of classes at various times, so most times you can find what you need any time of day. And it's not all hot yoga. You have a choice. I like that. Downward dog at 40 degrees Celsius is not my idea of fun. Another couple of notes about studio: it's above ground, has a lot of light, and the floor looks and feels very nice - I think it's laminate. You might think it strange that I go into details about the floor and the spray on deodorant, but what I'm trying to say is, it's not just a studio. This is a place of indulgence, and every little detail makes you feel like you are in a spa or a fancy yoga retreat somewhere. There's also the infrared sauna. Now, the bad news is this place is freaking expensive. Last time I checked, it was something like $22-$25 per session. Now, that said, they usually have some sort of a deal going on, like a 10 session pass or a monthly pass that lets you cut it down to circa $10-15/session, so if you are really digging this place and can't quite afford it, you might be able to with a pass. Unfortunately I contracted a bad case of athletes foot here, so beware. Then when I did not want to go because I wanted it to go away first, my 10 class pass expired. The 3 month time limit is extremely stringent for those who have a job and a life, c'mon have another option... I filled out surveys stating that I think it should have at least a 6 month expiry, (as it once did years ago) but I guess they like me to waste my time doing surveys and then don't consider the suggestion because my time is not as valuable as their profits. I guess they make more money this way? Nonetheless I stupidly bought another 10 class pass without having used the other 10 I purchased, I did that 3 times. My experience(s) are proof that their options of classes with such quick expiry dates just leave patrons frustrated and feeling ripped off. Parking is a pain, and there have been times that when I finally find a spot, pay a lot to park there, I end up being a minute late and they won't let me into the class, so I pretty much wasted all my time, money and effort to feel frustrated. Not worth it. This is enhanced by a pretty inconvenient schedule to catch any decent time for a class (either too early and can't get there from work on time, or too late I don't want to wait around and want to eat dinner) -unless you don't work -I guess. Then when there is a relatively decent time for a class, it is absolutely packed. If you go the route of asking for a push in the expiry date, they give you a week. For someone who bough a 10 class pass for 3 months, a one-week extension is barely an effort to create a sense of customer satisfaction. I've learned my lesson.... probably won't be returning until they reconsider the expiry dates. read more

I've mostly been to the YYoga Downtown and have been to the Kitsilano location only a few times. Compared to a lot of yoga studios I've been trying out recently, YYoga is on the average side for me. They have splendid facilities compared to a lot of places but what really makes a great yoga place for me are the teachers and the staff. YYoga: You lost me as a customer yesterday. For the most part your staff and teachers are great. There have been times in the past where I've met front desk staff that could have been a tad bit more hospitable but it's been okay. Yesterday, however, one of your TEACHERS was blatantly rude and disrespectful. Towards the class as a whole, the instructor was great. Not the case towards me as an individual. I was recently in a minor car accident and so have some stiffness in my legs. Yoga teachers generally notice and ask me if I'm feeling alright in a manner that is professional and kind. This particular instructor came up to me and asked almost angrily, "ARE YOU OKAY?!?!" I said that I was fine, I just had some stiffness in my legs. She slammed two blocks beside me. I was surprised by the negativity. I figured it was an accident and wanted to end the class on a friendly note so I asked her after class, "I have some stiffness in my legs, do you know of any stretches I could do outside of class that could help?" I explained that I work at a job where I stand quite a bit so were there any stretches I could do while standing. The yoga instructor was VERY COLD and looked and talked to me as if I were a disgusting slug. She stated that yoga was about helping with stiffness so she didn't know what I was talking about. She then turned extremely passive aggressive and asked: "Did you not like the class?" As she was saying these things she smiled and waved at students leaving and turned back to me stony-faced. It was shocking to hear someone preach about love and relaxation and then turn around and act like a high school bully. Everyone who practices yoga is at a different place based on experiences and where their body is for the day. I attended the 9:00-10:00pm time slot and was exhausted from my day. It is any yoga student's right to opt out of some poses if his/her body is feeling pained without the teacher acting insulted. I've attended other yoga studios where I always leave feeling elated, happy and relaxed - body and mind feel simply wonderful! I left the class feeling as if I was the worst yoga student in the world and that she wanted me to know it. Sorry YYoga, but once my one-year membership is done I'll be leaving. Beautiful facilities do not make up for ugly on the inside. read more

The lockers at the kits location are TINY (too small for a laptop), and some of the staff have attitude and will not let you store your bag behind the counter. As a result my clothing was stolen from the locker room here. So disappointing and there is nothing the company will do. Clearly they need better security, bigger lockers, or allow patrons the opportunity to store things behind the counter like the do in the downtown location. I will not be returning. read more

I cannot recommend this yoga studio, particularly given their COVID response. I went to a class in early summer 2020, and they had crammed approximately 20 people into a room. Needless to say, we were not socially distanced - and even worse, they cranked the heat up, so everyone was sweating and breathing heavily. I didn't feel comfortable going back after that, and let them know, and then they informed me that my class pack had expired. I asked for it to be extended because of the pandemic, but they did not extend it enough for me to use all of the classes, so I lost several of the very expensive classes on my 10-class pack. Trying to be understanding, I bought another 10-class pack recently. Today I signed up for a 12:30 class, arrived at 12:30, and was told that the door was already locked and I couldn't enter - even though I had arrived on time. Given how expensive Y Yoga is, this is completely unacceptable. I will not be spending any more money on this yoga studio. read more

Facility is spacious and great, and each instructor holds very unique ways of teaching their practice, and I certainly value instructors that show passion in teaching yoga. Couple things I noticed while I attending this facility: - Security. I feel my stuff held in the changeroom is never safe, even the lockers are unable to secure most stuff I bring to yyoga. Kits yyoga needs to reconsider some security measures here. - Poor Customer Service. If you work at the front desk, please do us customers a favour and be professional with your work. I do not appreciate being negatively drawn into poor attitudes who don't serve any purpose in working for a yoga facility. If you don't like your job, do something about it. I do not want to waste any of time dealing with people who can't commit their time to not doing their job professionally. Also, treat your damn volunteers like they're part of the team because they volunteered their extra time to come help and clean the mats for you. While these people are working hard in making the facility clean, I have seen a few of you just leaning on the front desk and talk about how another man broke your heart. Jesus. And that is all. I hope whoever the manager of this facility actually has a brain and plenty of experience of turning all this around. read more

I am a fan of this yoga studio! I love their infrared sauna and their classes. With many different styles of yoga and fitness and a large inventory of times available, this yoga studio has something for everyone. Their staff is very friendly and the facilities are clean. This studio makes it convenient and fun to get to yoga classes and seems like a great community. Beautiful and clean yoga studio located in the W. 4th shopping district. The design and the facilities of the studio are like a spa. There are complimentary lockers (with locks) to store your valuables while you're in class. The women's change room also had a vanity area containing hair dryers and styling products. There are two yoga rooms offering a variety of yoga classes all throughout the day. The studio also has a nice lounge area and an outdoor patio with complimentary tea for you to enjoy to extend your post-yoga zen! read more

On my BD, I got an offer to bring a friend for one free class and I went there to try the new studio. In a cool summer morning, I had a great flow class, then got a cup of tea, standing on the sunny porch, with amazing view and the breeze in my hair ... Love this place! I have been happy with every class I've taken here. It was even great when I was pregnant and postpartum, the teacher are very helpful. It feels like going to the spa, and the price is competitive with other yoga places such as Semperviva who offer less of an experience. Totally worth the $. Would go everyday if I could. read more

They will charge your credit card over and over until they get their money and you won't be able to practice. They prey on those who cannot easily afford their studio. I have been charged $80 by them for may and towel when I can't afford a pass. Their teachers are ok and front staff are rude. If you want a corporate soulless yoga experience go here. read more
