Lovely photo opportunity outside of Atherton Hall.

I just celebrated my destination wedding in Oahu. Since I was unable to visit before the wedding, I had to do everything online - a daunting task. But everything worked out wonderfully. Not wanting a hotel reception and hoping to just have fun in a beautiful location, I held my wedding reception in Atherton Hall at the YWCA Camp Kokokahi. Everything was amazing!! The site is right off of Kaneohe Bay providing a beautiful backdrop of water, lights and boats, there is a large grassy area behind the hall for pictures, volleyball, etc, and the staff were incredible. They really went out of their way to accommodate our group; even letting us borrow a volleyball net and ball for the reception! Communication was easy (Casey was very attentive), check in and out were a breeze and we were able to choose our own caterer, bartender, and other vendors. It was exactly what I was looking for. We had a party with 60 people so we rented both the hall and attached kitchen. We had enough space for tables, people, iPod DJ, a photo booth and bar setup. I would probably not recommend it for groups larger than 75 people or so if you want room for things like a dance floor but it was perfect for our needs. And the hall is so pretty that we really didn't need to do much decorating. With a few paper lanterns and some table decoration, everything was simple and beautiful. I would definitely recommend hosting an event at Atherton Hall. THANK YOU to everyone from the YWCA that helped make our day so special! NOTE - the building is not air conditioned so it does get a little warm, but we all had a great time.

Tracy with Arcadia ISR came highly recommended to me by several moms at the gym... I was debating…read moreputting my son in regular swim lessons, but ended up going this route and never looked back. When I researched the ISR method, I learned that drowning is the number one cause of accidental death for children under the age of four in Arizona. And while I know there is no substitute for constant supervision, ISR Self-Rescue lessons provide an extra layer of protection. My son loves the water... whenever he sees it, he wants to go in. It's beyond scary to think about if he somehow were to fall into a pool and an adult wasn't around to save him. If you really want the chills and reassurance that ISR works, check out the testimonial page here: http://www.arcadiaisr.com/testimonials.html The testimonials do not lie. Tracy is fabulous. While it's an investment of both time and money, it's so worth it. Just a few weeks in and my 22 month old son can float and swim to the side of the pool - it's pretty amazing! When Yelp allows us to post videos, I'll do so here... In the meantime, if you are looking at swim lessons / survival class for a child 6 months to 6 years old, I highly recommend ISR!

It's a waste of money and torture for your child. First they charge you a "Registration Fee"…read moreof over $ 100,- What service do they provide for that money ??? Total Nonsense and a ripoff. Then it's $ 80 a week for 10 minute classes. (cash. credit cards are only accepted for the registration fee) All what your child learns is to roll onto the back and float for a few seconds. After that it will drown if nobody comes to help. We have not seen one single child who enjoyed the classes, they all started to cry as soon as they saw the pool. Of course, their video only shows amazing pictures of babies under the water. The main purpose of these courses is to create revenue, the child will not learn to swim or to survive if it falls into an unattended pool. Even worse: It creates a false idea that the baby is safe around water. Take your child to real swimming lessons at the age of 4 years, that is the age recommended by pediatrics. The ISR course won't help your child to learn to swim faster - save your money.

He catered his lesson to their own individual skill and comfort level in the water so they didn't feel scared or intimidated at all. We will absolutely book more lessons with him when we are back on the island! I highly recommend him for any swim lessons your family may need!

He has coached both of our daughters -- now 4 and 7 -- and the transformation has been remarkable. Both girls started with a real fear of the water, and Brandon had such a natural, thoughtful way of gently pushing them forward at just the right pace. He always seemed to know exactly what each of them needed to build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. Thanks to Brandon, both girls are now water safe, have learned to swim, and continue to improve their strokes every year. But what really sets him apart is that he makes every single lesson genuinely fun. These are kids on vacation -- there are a million other things competing for their attention -- and yet they look forward to their lessons with him every time. That truly says it all. If you are looking for a swim instructor who is skilled, patient, creative, and just wonderful with kids, Brandon is your person. We feel so lucky to have found him and cannot imagine our trips to Hawaii without him!
