Lots of different types of classes available. Sauna areas included. Great class trainers. Bleachers area for people who can come to watch. Place is clean. Front lockers specifically for valuables. The bad: Pool water can be colder than we think it might be. Class trainers are overworking (barely have a break between classes). If one pool has an issue, reorganizing space between other pools is an hassle. Lots of stupid parents not watching their kids. Changing rooms can be crowded by families. Changing rooms can be slippery. Aside from people being around and in your way (see the bad section), the place itself is a very nice one.

We checked in at the main hotel lobby but were staying in the Lofts. An attendant helped us to the room on the second floor with no elevator and then parked the car for a daily fee. The room with a kitchen a living room area was very nice. We stayed three nights. I would only recommend a towel bar or hooks in the bathroom, change the battery in the clock, and larger mug cups in the kitchen. We enjoyed one of the three restaurants. I had a lobster roll dinner at the seafood one. The hotel is in the heart of old town and walking distance to restaurants, shops and the St. Lawrence River.

The lobby isn't lavish, but it is very nice with comfy seating areas. The rooms are quaint and cozy with stone walls and wood floors. We had a white wrought iron bed, a bistro table with 2 chairs, a desk with a chair, and a living room type chair. The bathroom is spacious with a brick wall and a large shower. There are two restaurants on site. We did not try the lobster restaurant but enjoyed our meals at Gaspar.

Location is about a 10 minute walk to old city or Basilica Notre Dame. A little farther to port/waterfront. Same 10 minutes to Saint Catherine street. Pretty far to Mount Royal park and St Viator bagels though-we did 13 miles of walking that day-yikes. Maybe burned off the bagel calories;) There is a market across the street that had prepared deli sandwiches as well as groceries and wine. Very convenient. Hotel is near Convention Center which seemed very busy. My only minor complaint is noise but can't really be helped because city. For the price and location, would recommend. Hubby reserved directly with L'ITHQ- instead of booking through Orbitz, Priceline, Travelocity, yada, yada, yada. And because of that, L'ITHQ gave us one complimentary Breakfast and Mimosa each. L'ITHQ is different from any boutique or contemporary hotel we've stayed in during past Montréal trips. In that, L'ITHQ covers a wide range of programs for students then set them for careers (in Hotel Management or Tourism) later on in their specific field. L'ITHQ's front desk staff was very welcoming. Our room was basic- yet comfortable and our bath was clean. Also worth noting (because it's important to me)- there weren't any lingering smells of any kind- either waking in to L'ITHQ's Lobby or in our room. There's no Valet but self-parking downstairs for $19,00 (CAD$) a day- which we thought was a steal. This place is definitely off the beaten path and we don't have to stay here every time. But price was very affordable- especially when hubby did the conversion from CAD$ to US$. They strive to provide comfort (and satisfaction)- and comfortable I was- for our short stay.

It came with a nice sized washroom and a kitchenette with a full sink, hot plate, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and decent mini fridge. The room itself was a little tight but the bed was very comfortable. The courtyard is really a little stairwell area enclosed by the building, technically outside and one could sit out there. Someone did, as there was a strong odour of cannabis several times a day. That would be my only negative comment - avoid courtyard facing rooms in case of second-hand smoke. Otherwise it's a great place to stay, absolutely spotless. We had daily room tidying service, they even washed the few cups and such we used. To be honest the daily garbage removal is a good idea for kitchenettes. The breakfast is included and there was a good selection, including the freshest, softest croissants I've had in Quebec. It was so nice to be able to sit down to a proper continental breakfast in a dining room again. Located one block from Sherbrooke metro station (orange line), and right on Rue St-Denis, there's no limit to the fun one can get up to on foot from the auberge. The neighbourhood is great, so many excellent dining options and things to do.
