On vacation we always decide to workout. What an amazing workout after all the food!! It was circuit training involving weights and cardio. The music during the workout was awesome. Our instructor Eric was very motivating . We took two classes with him two days in a row. One was challenge involving cardio and legs and the other one was more upper body. We enjoyed both classes!

They offer a variety of classes which I have not tried but I am pretty sure they are extremely legit! They have a fabulous steam room and sauna and beautiful showers. As soon as you enter you can see that alot of time and effort went into planning not just the layout and decor but also the quality and functionality of the equipment. It's all brand new.....a completely renovated space with roughly 20,000 sq/ft of facilities including a big and well equipped weight and cardio room as well as boxing, yoga, pilates, spin, crossfit, etc.....everything you need to get fit. Then go relax in the well decorated locker rooms for men and women with showers, steam, sauna, sitting room w/tv, or get a massage. On the way out, grab a smoothie or one of the prepared meals on offer to take home so you don't order Domino's or stop by McDonald's on the way home and then completely negate the intense workout you just had. There are trainers on staff at all times to ensure everyone is getting the proper workout and you always have the option of taking individual or group classes. All the gym equipment was carefully researched and chosen from an Italian company called Technogym. I've been working out there for 3 weeks now and my workouts are better then they've ever been. The machines are very well made and have better range of motion and support for areas like your back then other machines I've used. Also, in our high tech world, the cardio machines (elliptical, bikes, treadmills, etc.) allow you to access the Technogym app to track your workout and accomplishments but also integrate with your Netflix account so you can binge watch all your favorite shows while sweating like an animal. The location is great as well and there is alot of parking all around. It's right behind the Home Depot on St-Jacques, which is great because you can go get your lumber and soil right after your workout.......as one does :) Over he course of many years, I've worked out at the Sanctuaire, Victoria Park, Mansfield Club, and others. B52 got it right, a nice place to workout that has everything you need and most of what you want.......I say most because there is no pool, tennis or squash. If you're looking for a new gym, this is the place.

Every time I took a friend from the US visiting - it was always stated once we left "can we come back tomorrow?". With the old location sold / demolished - it was a hard feat for the owners to find a location that could match its size/ atmosphere. It goes beyond training - it is an experience. Well, they managed to move. With trepidation the first time - could the formulae be repeated. It is a true lifters gym. You will find equipment there that is rare to find. The Legs section - come on - find me another place that has the amount of equipment / machines. Come on - 6 + different squat machines! Gym Size : I have been to gyms for NFLD to BC and many in between - nothing matches this place for size / space / equipment. It is now stretched out over two levels of intelligent use of space. Added feature : Meditation Room | Barber | Food Services with good seating (+access to microwaves if you brought something) | Supplements Shop | Kick Boxing Area + | Dentist Office | Tanning Beds | Private Closed Door Area for Women's Only Gym | Tons of Free Parking When it moved and was too far for me the time to get to - I tried EVERY other gym in DT Montreal and areas near - Sweet Dear God - throw head on table - Not The Same Thing! Pricing : Not only one of the best price in Montreal for all this equipment - but in Canada. In DT Vancouver it was $100 a month - similar hight prices in other cities with less equipment. Progym offers specials as low as $320 a year if you hit right! Hours : 24hrs /5 days- except Sat/Sun / closing at 9:00 pm + slew of Accredited Trainers (M/F) if required. Crowd : For most part - heads down - there to train and leave. From dedicated lifters to novices. Decent crowd for most parts. Go check it out. Easy sign-up, no crazy overaggressive sales tactics (like American gyms), key fob can be reactivated when you revisit or if you work remotely. Top 5 Reasons to join this gym: 1. Motivation. Everyone here is there to get fit, stay fit, and they respect the place and the equipment. 2. True training. A gym that's not just for getting in shape (e.g. gym muscles). This is a legit training facility. I haven't seen much of this in commercial gyms (only at say, college athletics training facilities). 3. Respect. No sales tactics. 4. No waiting. Multiple identical workout stations (if there's a unique machine or rack or board or bar you love and rarely shows up at commercial gyms, or if they have it, they have one. ProGym will have 4 of them) 5. Old school and latest tech. Missing an old school rack or tired of lugging your own TRX to the gym, they'll have it.

The trainers are friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable. They charge $25/hour, and if you have exceeded 30 training sessions, then it becomes $20/hour. The space is not the largest, but good enough, providing all the weight training and cardio equipment you may need. To be exact, 10,000 square feet of training space, with 75 up-to-date cardio machines, and 75 strength stations. It is not constantly jam-packed, but does have its peak hours. They also provide a towel service, and have made the vicinity wheelchair accessible. The gym is in the perfect location for those who live and/or work downtown, study and/or teach at Concordia, and use the Guy-Concordia metro often. It is also in the ideal location to find a quick bite before or after your workout. There are a variety of classes offered too, ranging from yoga to pilates, martial arts to kick-boxing, and many, many others. They last for about a month and a half at a time, and incur a separate charge. To me, this is one of LeGym's downfalls, as I wish it provided full access to classes, as well as the gym's facilities. Despite this, however, you still get great quality for what you're paying. I'm a regular and I love it here.

There is also a lot of squat racks, machines, pull up bars, a nice dumbbell area, and for people who enjoy indoor cardio there are plenty of cardio machines. But there is only two benches for bench press. The fact that it's so awesome and so well located is also the cause of it's worst inconvenience: past 3-4 pm (and even as early as 7am) the weight section will be crowded, all of the squat racks and the bench press stations will be used. So you have no choice to work in with someone else, which is inconvenient as you are usually using a different poundage, or a different exercise. In those cases you have to strip and put back the weights on non-stop. So there you go; if you enjoy all the perks (and the low price I didn't mention earlier), and you don't mind sharing a bar with one or two other lifter, this is a good place to build an impressive physique or reach a new strength level.

An extra bonus that they have a "plus" change-room and I had access to that as well since that was part of my membership which they also honoured. There's certainly bigger Y's than this one - including the one in my suburban community. But bearing in mind that they're in the heart of downtown Montreal, it's still a pretty good size with a bunch of amenities. The gym area is on the top (3rd or 4th) floor, so I caught the pool, a couple studios, gymnasium and others on the way up. The gym was fairly well supplied and should have most of what you're looking for. I mostly just use free weights and a running track anyway which they had available. The plus change-room was really nice! Funny enough it was quite a bit bigger than my local one, though the rest of the facility is smaller. The provide towel service, carpeted areas by the lockers, a large and well-functioning steam room and a large whirlpool. Just note that you'll need to have your own lock. My Y has a system where you can leave your card in the locker in order to bring a key with you, but this one you need your own lock. I'm not sure how it works for the other change-room. Glad I made my visit here to get energized and make a small dent in burning the excessive calories I took in on my trip to Montreal. Staff were really nice and helpful too.

Recently they changed their pay structure to be biweekly. If you're regular price individual, it comes out to a little over $30 for two weeks, around $60 a month. The facilities are decently taken care of. Nothing is too messy and they frequently have cleaners going in and out of the change rooms. The studios are pretty clean and spacious (though some classes are PACKED, even if it's inside the gym.) the change rooms are okay, I've never had issues getting a locker before. There are a variety of classes you can take and all of them are fun! I've tried quite a few of them and I don't remember any being bad at all. The teachers are great and are bilingual. Because classes are often busy, they can't really focus too much attention to you during classes. However, they are always open to speaking with you after classes. With the Y membership, you also get 10 friend passes to use and 2 fitness instructor training sessions. You have to renew your membership yearly (no, it doesn't just roll over). Staff are extremely kind and helpful in the front desk as well.

It has gone through numerous ownership…read moreand administration changes, however the current owners are the worst this gym has ever had the misfortune of having. These owners are the same owners of the gym that used to be near Place des Arts, on the other side of the Musique Plus building. If you are familiar with what that used to be, then you know the condition of this gym. What's wrong with it? Everything. They vandalized their own elevator. You get onto the main floor and the younger looking gym flunky is the rudest and most moronic person there. It takes a lot of explanation before he finally seems to understand your statement. Then flat out lies to you. I asked if the gym opens at 6 AM, as is indicated on their Facebook page and their schedule from the last time I was there. They told me the staffer who opens it that early is on vacation. It'll open at 6 in two weeks. Two weeks later, still not open at 6. I ask why, they tell me that the city won't let them open. Wait another two weeks. Come back and still not open at 6 in the morning. Still no refund. A far cry from when this used be open 24 hours every weekday. Windows are nailed shut because "the owner told him to." Sure. The locker rooms are horrendous and filthy. Some faucets don't work. Those that do, have hardly any water pressure. Also, faucets are not secured to the counter. One easily falls over when turning on the tap. Showers are filthy. Toilet smells and looks filthy. Urinal doesn't flush properly and has a constant urine smell emanating from it that you can smell from a few meters away. The locker area itself is filthy and is mopped with a filthy grey mop. You actually see it spreading more filth across the floor than actually cleaning. The equipment is falling apart. A barbell is missing a screw at the end that secures the end to the bar. Meaning, regardless of whether there is weight on it or not, IT WILL FALL RIGHT OFF, weight, clip and all. Safety bars are bent out of shape. Miscellaneous equipment has literally been cut to pieces for no apparent reason. When asked what happened, the staff have no idea and don't care to have it replaced. Nobody bothers to put the weights in the proper places. You can easily spend half your workout hunting for plates and arranging them in the proper order. The one guy they had whose job was to arrange the plates, didn't even weigh more than the barbell and couldn't lift a plate to arrange it properly. Benches and anything with padding are mostly ripped and/or broken. They removed a power rack for no reason. A dip apparatus was removed for no reason. The plates for the barbells do not match. When the new owners took over this gym, they brought their old and broken plates with them, which was unnecessary since there was an abundance of iron plates and no broken rubberized plates. Their kettle bells are plastic and have been broken. I hope nobody was hurt. Holes in the walls that take months to have repaired. Same with the cracked windows. They no longer allow people to open the windows on hot days, so the poor air conditioning is all you have to rely on. The top floor is poorly organized. There is a hardwood floor next to the heavy lifting area that used to be for stretching, calisthenics and other things that required free space. Now it is used for cardio classes with loud shitty music and screaming participants that make it hard to focus on your lift. Back in the day, there was a wall between the two areas. It was broken down when they decided to stop classes. Now that these owners have revived cardio classes, they still have no idea how useful a wall would be. The cardio machines have been downgraded. Before the current management, there were at least two treadmills and numerous other machines that had heart rate sensors. These have been removed in favour of cheaper machines that sometimes do not work. Various water fountains do not work properly, blaming it on "the city". The workout areas are nearly as filthy as the locker areas. Overall, avoid this gym. There are better ways to spend your money. When even most of the staff dislike the new owners, you know there's a problem. If I could give this a zero or a negative number, I would.
